So I was just over at fashion ivy eyeing the new Elie Saab Couture collection {fab} when I realized there was a really awesome song playing in the background.
{You can scroll down and click play whenever you like if you so choose to listen to the song - and I think you should so choose :}
I usually am a bit annoyed when music just starts blaring at me immediately after a page loads {I like the option of clicking "play" myself instead of scrambling to find the "stop playing NOW" button} because I am old and because I don't like being told what to do.
Because of this, I end up missing the song.
But not this time. This time I was in love with what I was hearing. I originally thought it was a new Rihanna song I hadn't heard but something didn't sound quite right. So I searched the sidebar of fashion ivy and there was a cute little player with this song {Official Girl by Karina Pasian} streaming.
I raced over to itunes {with my mouse} and found only one song so far called "16 At War" ...good, but not what I was looking for. So of course I googled her and found her super-cute myspace page and read that she was 16 years old -which she makes clear in her song ..."16 at War" {stay with me}.
16 years old!?. Her lyrics are fairly mature and her voice is smooth but even if she's 18 or 20 for that matter, I wonder ...am I too old?
Is there a point when you are just too old to listen to what the "kids" are listening to? I can't even believe I am saying "kids" in that reference! Wait, I'm not THAT old. But seriously, I don't listen to Those Jonas Bros or that Miley Cyclopse because, hey, they're not singin' about anything I want to hear {and they suck :}
But really, I think if the music has a great beat, makes me want to dance, makes me want to sing, makes me feel sexy, makes me emotional, or just plain makes me smile, it doesn't matter what age they are. They are getting the point across and that's all that matters.
So I've answered my own question and decided that I can listen to whatever I want to {and if I want todaily occasionally sing and dance around my house to the latest teenager Pop/R&B/Soul star - I will. WHATEVA! I DO WHAT I WANT - and I'm a totally good dancer. {for an old lady}
*now scroll back up and press play and listen to that song ...it's good, I swear.
Karina's album "First Love" in stores {hopefully itunes} 8/19
..oh, and...stop the player or it will loop continuously.
