It's finally October! ...and to kick off the festivities, I'm posting the first of my top ten Halloween costumes.
I totally rocked 80's Madonna and luckily, my friend Erik Hyler {who just so happens to be a freaking amazing photographer} was there to snap some radical shots. {I only wish I had more!}

I am not embarrassed to say that I did not need to buy a single item for this costume.. yep, I had it all ..even down to that lace glove, which I kept from the 80's {and still have!}. I only wish I had a full-length shot because I was wearing an awesome mini crinoline, ripped stockings, ruffle socks and ankle boots.

I've always been a fan of dressing up and creating my own costumes instead of buying them. It started with my mom who would hand make them all for me as a kid. Throughout the month of October, I'll be posting the rest of my top 10 {from various ages} for your viewing pleasure. ...not that they are super original or anything, but if you get some ideas over here, please be kind and mention me as your inspiration ~ :)

wow that is freakin awesome! spot on :-)
I was around then but I don't remember this kick ass costume! I remember you dressing as Madonna but I don't remember how AWESOME it was!
BTW - I LOVE MY BLOG LAYOUT! YOU ROCK!
That is incredible. You NAILED the look!
Best Madonna costume ever. You look fantastic. You are like the Cindy Sherman of Halloween!
I thought it was Madonna! You did it better than her.
You look so awesome, I love Madonna, and Halloween is definitely my favorite holiday. Just fun with no expectations that the other holidays hold. I cannot wait. :))
Wow! I have been various incarnations of Madonna several times, but none this good!
OMG those are AMAZING!!!
Holy smokes...AMAZING is all I can say!
Wow girly you look smokin HOT! Better than Madonna in the 80s'.
thanks for the well wishes...they mean a lot!
I LOVE that you didn't need to buy anything for that costume. I especially like the gloves. I was going to a dance a few years ago and I really wanted lace gloves like that and I couldn't find them anywhere. And a few weeks ago I saw some in "Hot Topic". My oh my how the 80s are back.
my mom always made costumes too. something about that, i absolutely cannot buy a costume now. plus all the store costumes are a slutty this or a slutty that. so uncreative!
thanks for stopping by my blog!!
I seriously thought that was Madonna in the first photo! DAMN you look hot! :) I loved the 80s Madonna. yep, had to be my favorite.
Holy shizzz woman you totally recreated her look! This is an amazing costume!!!
Wow - you look rockin'! That is great!
Wow! You gave me an 80s flashback!
seriously!?!! you make a freakin awesome madonna!! like perfect costume! love it.
Great costume, Maegan! But most of all, I love your Mary Oliver quote at the bottom of your blog! Amazing! I am a huge fan of hers and love to see other people recognize her talent.
you rock girl!!!
Ok, now THAT is a great costume. You look fab! I can't wait to see your other ones!!
That totally rocks- I will come backto see the rest! glad I stopped by....
it's freaky how you nailed every single detail of that costume. You look great! Can't wait to see the rest of the top 10!
Hey there. I came over from She's Lump. We're different but that's what I like :) I'll keep checking back in. And I REALLY thought that was Madonna until I started reading!! Outrageous!!!!
Omg, I am so totally impressed. The costume is perfect and it's definitely my favorite Madonna era.

Just wanted to let you know...I almost didn't finish my costume, because I found yours on a Google search and then got addicted to your blog, which I have yet to put a serious dent in. Anyway, I was preparing for an 80's costume contest at Hollywood Slots and Casino, in Bangor, ME, last week, New Year's Eve. Well, I was one of the five winners! We had a lot of fun, and my husband was so proud, and I think a little turned on, ha ha! So, today, I was looking for leather bracelet ideas on Google image, and there you are again, or at least your hand! Long story short, I love your style, your story, and your attitude. Keep it up! You light up my life! PS you can check out my costume on fb, if you like. I too didn't get a full body shot. You can't see my (repurposed sweater sleeve)leg warmers and canvas sneakers.
