My First Turkey

I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for the first time in 2005 and fed about 30 people at my father-in-law's house. I did have a few little helpers though; that's my mom in the background stirring stuffing and Shanon helped quite a bit as well. It was a casual event, as you can see.

I had just pulled the turkey out of the oven and was photographing it {because it was my 1st!} when my husband walked into the kitchen. Those sweet turkey smells must have found a direct pathway to his nostrils forcing him to stop playing Guitar Hero and find the source of goodness and wonder. I'm not sure he was aware I was even standing there let alone capturing his reaction to that turkey ...and I'm glad because this is one of my all-time favorite photos.



Tomorrow we are having Thanksgiving at my FIL's again but alas, I am not cooking. The lovely Shanon is but I will be making delicious oatmeal cookies and peanut butter cups tonight and we're bringing hors d'œuvres. The same 30 people will most likely be there tomorrow as in 2005 but possibly a little less casual. It's going to be a fun day!

I will save all my "Happy Thanksgiving" wishes until tomorrow when hopefully I will get ready in time to give you yet another completely gratuitous outfit post. {I know, I know, you all can barely handle to suspense ;0)} ...but my dress is quite boobacious, boobtastic, if you will, so it might be a little much for a family gathering. Then again, you don't know my family. ;) wink
