Throughout my life, I have had the pleasure of owning 8 different dogs, including my two present lovelies; Bebop the Pug and LeRoy the French Bulldog.

LeRoy is the first dog who was a puppy when I got him. He was just eight weeks old and he was the cutest thing I had ever seen and has turned into the best dog I have ever had {as far as how well he listens to me} and I can only guess it's because I had him from the beginning.

To give you an idea of his size ...Bebop was 3 years old here and full grown and LeRoy must have been at least three months old here because he was wearing his first collar that was so big at first, I used a ribbon instead.

Brothers ...love each other {they're the same size now}

Just one of the toys.

Unfortunately, LeRoy was bittersweet. He was a replacement for my Boston Terrier who had been hit by a car and died 7 days prior, on my 28th birthday. He was only two years old. When I look at these puppy pictures of LeRoy, emotions that I did not know were still floating around surface and turn into tears. It marks such a difficult time in my life.

LeRoy is super sensitive to my emotional state. He gets very worried if I am upset. I just had a realization recently that this could possibly result from my massive crying spells due to the loss of the other dog. LeRoy would just lie on my chest while I sobbed and petted him. It was quite apparent that I was already in love with the new puppy but still a wreck over the loss of Billy.

It's not something I really think about or correlate with LeRoy until I look at LeRoy's puppy pictures. And then it all just comes back up. I wonder how long it will take me to get over that ...or if I ever will. Are there just some events in your life that will remain sensitive until we are well into our nineties? Will I still tear up remembering this particular and tragic time in my life? I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Oh, what a sweet little baby! Losing a pet is absolutely devastating. I'm so happy you were able to pick your head up and get a new little pup. It's important to grieve, but think how much happier your life is with this little guy in it:) Sorry it is still hard for you. x
Aw, soo cute!
Adorable!
he is so freakin' cute. But I do feel the sadness in these pics of you and Pep with LeRoy. I thought before I got to your comments about the mixed feelings that - this time was very emotional.
Aww - little.
THey are ADORBALE!
Thank you for stopping by... Debbie's Dirty Dancing VIRTUAL trip is in the works.
You have an idea... I'd love to hear it.
Enjoy your day!

I support gratuitous puppy posts.
Awww... cute puppy pics! And is that you with the uber-blonde hair?
aww so freaking cute.
dogs are amazing
Aww I love puppies, and SO FREAKING ADORABLE. Wow these pictures made me want a new one..
Losing a pet is devastating.
Your new little guy and your pug are both adorable :)
how adorable! i lost mine, and never have the guts to have another, its just too painful :(
i.want.him.
seriously... cutest little muffin ever!
I just wanna smooch his face off. :)
He is adorable! I can't imagine the pain of losing a pet. You are justified in however you feel because they are your feelings. Hey, I cry when I even think of something happening to my chis.
Thank you, Maegan, for posting all those adorable pictures. OMG!! He is such a cutey.
I am so sorry you lost your old friend, but LeRoy is quite a pal to get you through those hard times. He clearly loves you so and it is obvious that the feeling is mutual.
ohhh! what a beautiful little thing! lovely!
SWEET beyond sweet... I'm getting a toothache hee! Wish all puppies would not grow up... ;)
~Lovely week to you beautiful!
OMG I cannot get enough of the pics!
Cute pics! Those eyes just melt your heart.
And Billy...I know how you feel. Our Boston Terrier got hit by a car last year...Rascal...sad sad time. And then came Brutus...helps with the mourning process but you still miss them sooo much!
Such cute puppies!!
Losing a pet always hurts immensely. I still get upset when I think about my little dog who died almost three years ago. It still hurts and probably always will. It's wonderful that you have LeRoy there to help cheer you up, though. He seems like such a sweet little one!
We just lost our dog Zach, a 10 yr old lab, in February. And we still can't bring ourselves to get another doggie. It still hurts like fire in your throat. I love Leroy's baby pictures.
Cuteee pictures! I am sorry about what happened..dogs are family, and when you lose one--you never really get over it. On a happier note, I love your hair in that picture..I totally want to dye mine bleach blonde..I am just waiting until it grows out more!
I had to put down my Bailey (who was 13) in March, I waited until June to get a new puppy but your right, they can just make you so happy no matter what mood your in!
Hey Maegan,
Losing your puppy only to be replaced with LeRoy who is not the same but totally adorable is just the the definition of "bittersweet". It will get easier but he won't be forgotten. I think tears are cleansing.

Yes agree bittersweet and soo adorable.. The love for animals is something else, they love us so unconditionally which makes it so hard when they go.
So cute. I love the little little. We just lost our little toy poodle a month ago. The ache is still there so deeply. I don't think it will ever go all away.
He is such a cute little bugger! I think losing a pet will always be sad to think back on. Unfortunately it's just something we have to deal w/ if we want to have little fur balls in our lives. It's hard, but I think it's so worth it to be able to share and better your life.
I can not handle how F-ing cute they are. My favorite is them cuddled together on the green puppy bed. SO CUTE.
afreakindorable maegan. What cute ears!!! I love both of them.
I would love to have a puppy in the house in like 16 years ;)
Adorable. I want one! What cute puppy pics.
He's adorable!
I know what you mean though about losing a dog. We lost our family Chihuahua about a year before I got my current Min-Pin, Boomer.
When I picked him out at the shelter there was a dog there that looked exactly like our Chihuahua and I cried all the way home because I felt guilty I hadn't picked out that dog.
Now I realize how hard it would have been to have a daily reminder of a pet I had lost.
oh so so so sweet.
Your doge are SO ADORABLE!! I love the pictures of them palling around together!
To bad you can't post one of his farts.
ahahahhahahahaha. the stinkiest farts ever.
He is so adorable! I totally feel you on this issue. I lost my Ricky 5 days after my birthday. I'd had him since he was a baby and he was like my child. I really think some things are just harder to get over than others. I get so sad just thinking about him. He will always have a special place in your heart, which is wonderful :)
Such a cute little puppy! The pics with both dogs are especially cute.
I read the Billy post earlier. It made my cry. Your nuggets of love are very cute!
leroy is the sweetest thing i have ever seen! i'm sorry about your other doggie... i know what it's like to lose your pet who you consider one of your family.
at least you had this little guy to cheer you up!!
Agreed - he DOES have the stinkiest farts EVER!
These are absolutely adorable pix. He looks like a real sweetheart. And I don't know how long it takes to get over this stuff. I still get weepy when I think of my dog, Duke, who died back in '97. He was probably one of the best dogs I've ever had, and my family members would probably all agree. He died too young and too tragically (pancreatic cancer), and it was very, very hard. We treated him like one of us, and it was like losing a family member. It was especially hard for me, because he was "my dog" and he slept in my room/on my bed, and went on adventures with me in the car all the time.
So yeah, it's hard, and I'm not sure if it ever goes away. But then there's all the good memories, which come to the surface more than the sadness (I hope).
Oh my goodness I WANT one I NEED one.
I'm sorry about your other dog. I love how no matter how bad my day is, coming through the front door and seeing the little thing bounding toward you with so much love just makes anyones day.
Ha! Those ears!!
Those pictures are a little little too cute! I don't think you'll ever get over it. I just wish for you less grief and more happy memories as time goes on. Sweet post.
i think my heart just melted.
Oh my god they are so cute. Now I want a dog.
that is so cute it hurts my face!!!
ahhhh too cute to deal. i've got a puggie too and i'm starting to think he needs a little frenchie friend!
We have an Old English/English Bull Dog. She is just like her breed. Bull headed, but we love her.One day we will have a Fenchie.
We just recently lost our Border Collie. It is so hard not to think of her every day! She too was a wonderful dog.
this is one of the cutest puppies i've ever seen!
PS - thanks for the funny comments about the lighting posted on my blog! they do look like weapons!
He's so adorable! So sad about your other dog.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
I totally know what its like to lose a pet....this little LEROY is such a cutie! I have 2 boxers and if I got a 3rd one...it would be a frenchie. : )

WOW! He truly is ADORABLE! I am really sorry for your loss though, loosing a pet is horrible, my little Maltese is 17 now, and things aren't going too well right now. :( I know its a matter of time now and I just dont think life will ever be the same again after she is gone. My lab was with me 18 years and I will never forget him. I really am sorry. Doggies are truly amazing parts of the family! :)
(wow! your hair was really different then!) :) always so beautiful though!
hey girls so beautiful post about When the Frenchie was a Puppy it's so beautiful and excellent picture I want a puppy
I so love the pug. My wife and I are fond of having different breeds of dog. We do have a pug and we love it.
