It's friday

and I'm feeling, well, better. :) However, I may have to hire a chauffeur to drive me to work in the mornings to prevent tears and anxiety

...but maybe not if I can drive in an awesome robot car like this one. I want this car! The Nissan Pivo 2, concept car, and probably only available in Japan ...but it's awesome!

The Stepdog

This is Bebop Pugman.
He was my husband's dog and now he is ours.

I must confess that I do not shower this little man with enough attention. He is a very very very good dog but has no idea that when I was about 10, I made up my mind that I did not like Pugs. My little [boy] friend next door, with whom I used to shoot bb's at empty lined up soda cans, pick up frogs forcing them pee, form exclusive clubs that other kids on the block were not allowed to join, also used to get puppies that his parents would never let him keep. There was a really cute and tiny fluffy white one, an adorable beagle, and the cutest pug puppy ever. I fell in love with the puggy and if I recall, his name was Brownie. One day, in the short amount of time the pug was around, I caught it eating it's own poop. That was the end of my love affair with pugs.

note* as far as pugs go, Bebop is the cutest I've EVER seen.

Random Thoughts

like ... Michael Jackson is rad and Thriller is one of my top 5 favorite all-time albums - which is still amazing to listen to today - Off The Wall must be mentioned as well, but come on! The man . . . er, person, molests little boys. And everyone always seems to forget that. weird.

Meat: I'm over it. Again.

Linda McCartney once said, “If slaughter houses had glass walls, we’d all be vegetarians.”

The easiest way to eat meat is not to think about it. It sits on your plate as a fillet or burger, a breast or wing, a glazed ham or tasty bacon. It has no face, no eyes, no fur, no pain - or does it?

"Eating meat can be as bad for our bodies as it for the environment. Meat contains 14 times more pesticides than plant food. The dairy business has led us to believe we need milk for strong bones, when in fact, a Harvard study found that women who consumed the most calcium from dairy foods broke more bones than those who rarely drank milk. Heart conditions, cancer, strokes, and other diseases have been linked to dairy and meat consumption."

"You have a choice. When you eat meat from factory farms you are eating pain, suffering, and torture. As Gandhi once said, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated . . . the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man." Choose not to eat meat from factory farms, because this is violence you can stop." full story

A Woman for President

I am 31 years old and I have never voted. A history teacher in high school told us that our vote does not count. I had heard my mother say the same thing before so all I needed was this second source to make it a truth. I was young. I believed these two women and never pursued the knowledge to back up my new opinion. I never paid much attention to politics. I didn't grow up in a political household so it was easy not to care. However, when asked why I didn't vote, I would always answer "When a woman runs for president, I'll vote!"

The past three years or so, and mostly due to my husband, I have paid more attention to politics. I don't know why but I've always had a sense that it was just all bullshit.

In April 2007, I started an environmental business. Because of this, I was sort-of forced to pay even more attention to politics. Once again, the conspiracy theories were always more appealing. I found zeitguist.com and numerous other truth movement writings and documentaries. I was obsessed with learning everything and anything I could and I became depressed about it for months afterwards. For me, it was even more proof that not only do our votes not matter but we don't either. And while that is a severely depressing thing to accept, if you think about it like a game, it makes me almost want to be a part of it. Like being the most popular girl in school. That kind of game can be won :)

Let it be known that the fact that she is a woman is not the sole reason Hillary gets my vote. I must confess, however, that I get very emotional watching her thinking we are about to make history and it's so exciting and she's a WOMAN! But because it doesn't matter anyway, and because I think whomever is going to be our next president already knows it, my vote is for HC.

Saturday nights

Yet another super-fabulous Saturday evening consisting of a little BLokus, some good old fashion Scrabble, delicious Nestle's chocolate chip cookie making - apron and all, and of course, my friend Alison - which was a much welcomed distraction to the ping pong match going on in my head since returning from a high pressure trip to the mall.

The old fortune cookie, ...er, fortune, that I found while transferring objects from old to new - states: Better caution at first than tears afterwards. 1, 3, 20, 43, 45, 27. It was right. A point I would have received had I done what the salesman prodded me to do and empty my contents into it. It may have swayed my decision and saved me the tears. Ahh, what's done is done ...and, *sigh* it's fabulous!

I will do as my husband says and call it a "learning experience" or return it next week when the ridiculousness truly sets in.
