Happy Halloween!

Suffice to say I only posted about 5 of my top Halloween costumes instead of the ten I originally promised, but I think you saw the best of the best. So, this Halloween post will be more about other spooky and arty things.

I've found that I tend to have a liking of moderately dark art. Or, art that looks relatively cute from far away and the closer you get the clearer the truth of the work becomes {à la Mark Ryden}. That said, I found these photographs from artist Eduardo Diaz in February and have been in love ever since. However, I can no longer find his web site to link to but Halloween seems an appropriate day to show them.

I'm also quite fond of the following two works by artist Michael Hussar ...and mostly only the two below ...not so much all of what's on his site.

Tonight, my husband and I are going to stay in with our friends Alison and Chad and scare ourselves silly watching Ghost Hunters where the TAPS team does a live investigation of Fort Delaware ...for 7 hours straight! I'm really excited to just relax this evening with some possible substance {ab}use :) and hang with the husband and our friends.

I hope you all have a super fun and safe Halloween with your kids and/or friends and I can't wait to see and hear all about it on Monday!

Oh, and HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

The Sounds & MeMe!

My husband has been infatuated with The Sounds lately and now I can't get this song {below} out of my head. I know NONE of the lyrics but every time I hum it I think of the Geico commercial with the cavemen on the motorcycles... {which I have now included on my lower right sidebar} I heart Cavemen!

The awesomeness that is Liv, The Girl With The Big Brown Eyes tagged me with a Me Me.

Here are the rules:
1. Link to the person that tagged you (check)
2. Post the rules on your blog (check)
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself (see below : check)
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website

1. I'm jealous of girls with pretty long eyelashes because mine are short, blonde, and stick straight out. Heating up my eyelash curler with the hair dryer works but is dangerous. I've burnt my eyelid before.

2. I used to collect ceramic masks with ribbons down the sides when I was pre-teen and into my teen years. I bet I still have {in a box somewhere} the ones that didn't break in the 1994 earthquake.

3. No matter how hard I try, I have a serious case of ROAD RAGE when I drive in this city ...mostly on the way to work. Who am I kidding? Driving anywhere.

4. When I was in the fourth grade, I broke my left pinky and ring finger. I was walking. And I tripped. And I landed on my hand.

5. I make fun of people with lisps. It's not right. I am sorry. I {single-handedly *winkWink*} cured my brother of his when he was a wee boy. "It's SSSSScott....not STHcott" I would repeat over and over ...You're welcome brother.

6. I was so angry on Tuesday morning that I kicked the cupboard with my foot and thought I broke it. ...my foot, that is. It's feeling better now so I'm pretty sure I'm not going to learn my lesson.

Tagging: Well, anyone who wants to play along!!! Then, come back here and tell ME you've MeMe'd yourself and I'll go check you out :) Cuz I make the rules!

{I've just polished off a king size bag of peanut m&m's which consequently grows me a pair of balls -shaved please-}

Happy "tomorrow's Friday" Day!

Completely Gratuitous

O.M.G. My day was so busy that I didn't get a chance to play in blog land and I am so missing you guys! One day?!?!?! Okay, it's settled, I am completely addicted to you all!

I did, however, find the time to snap a few shots at work before the boss came in {like QUICK} but had to wait until now to post. I found that it worked in my favor because I am loving the artsy patio shots in the afternoon sun. I hate posting outfit posts when I'm wearing something else...I dunno why. {I feel like a liar, that's why :}

I also have to finish the Happy Birthday Mom post but I'm finding it not an easy task ...and well, THIS is much more in my emotional grasp right now. {sorry mom, I love you :}

I am wishing our art handler would change the painting behind me. lol. I need a new background! {oh, and if it looks like I am touching the art, I am not :}

Sunglasses: Gucci
Short chain with round pendant: Gucci
Long chain: Vintage ~ Grandma's, wrapped twice
Earrings: Hoops, white gold
Makeup: Bare minerals {the best and easiest makeup in the world}
Eyeshadow: Stilla
Hair: a mess :)

Dress: {dark grey with hot pink bike}AA Vital Industries on Etsy L.O.V.E. THIS DRESS. I can also bunch it up and wear it as a t-shirt with jeans. They didn't have a medium so I got the large because I was just too in love with it to pass it up and am SO happy I did because the medium would have been too form fitting for me.
Leggings: {black} AA
Blazer: {black} Vintage. I have had this blazer for ages but It was too long to fit any styles for a while ...but you gotta save classic design. It's really comfy and fully lined and has the smoothest material and the arms are narrow ...it's just overall a perfect fit.
Boots: {grey suede} Steve Madden {last year}...Thanks Sis!

Happy Birthday Mom!

maegan-mom-birthday-1978

This is one of my favorite photos of my mom. I'm not sure if it's just old or it was always sort-of brownish, but it just reminds me of fall. It was taken in my grandparents back yard and it was 1978 or 1979. By looking at our attire, and the fact that it was at "Nana's", I am quite positive it was a holiday, and I'm going to guess Thanksgiving because of the colors. {Although, it could have been for her birthday!}

I guess I could just call and ask her but I don't want to disturb her. She's celebrating her 5th 55th birthday with her husband at Disneyland. I think they go every year now ...something about wearing a big pin that says "It's My Birthday" and all the Disney staff wish her a big Disney Happy Birthday when she passes. I'm sure her grin is ear to ear right about now ...at least I hope it is.

Breasts, Boobs, Boobies, Titties & Ta Tas

I couldn't not mention Breast Cancer Awareness this month, now could I?

Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer after lung cancer and the fifth most common cause of cancer death ...in both women AND men. {Wiki} This is a scary statistic!

While I don't have any family history with this type of cancer, it is not something that I do not worry about. I mean, I am a woman and I do have breasts but in addition to that, my mom was adopted and we have no knowledge of illness or medical history from her side. Oh, AND I smoked for about 12 years.

I have had a love/hate relationship with my own set of twins since they made their first appearance on my chest at about age 13.

After getting teased by boys about being flat chested {who isn't at 11?} I used to pray at night for them to grow and found myself trying to mimic what other girls who had nice big boobs did ...thinking that's how it worked.

And when they did finally morph, I realized that my prayers lacked specifics.

For I simply prayed for my boobs to grow but didn't specify "pretty" "even" "round" or "full". So, as far as looks go, I have always hated them and in the back of my mind {as crazy as it sounds} I fear my hatred will somehow lead to the dreaded breast cancer.

I think we've all heard of Save the Ta Tas which gives 100% of every sale to breast cancer research.

...but this one is new to me {and quite cute!}

go to Save 2nd Base to read their story.

...and of course, there's always the Free Click Breast Cancer site. Every click of the button helps fund free mammograms for women in need.

To all the women who were brave enough this month to go and get a mammogram, congrats and I hope your results are, well, let's just say CANCER FREE!

Boobie kisses all around!

Happy Friday!
{but actually, this was yesterday}

at work, ibooth ~ thanks imac!

"Sunnies" {I DIE} Tom Ford

jewel toned dress ~ vintage

belt ~ vintage: green leather/gold chain buckle

manicure ~ OPI "Have you seen my limo"
chipped ~ KLASSY

This dress has not a single tag. It's thick~ish material is most likely a polyester blend and it's about two sizes too big. When I found it, I had high hopes in changing it into a mod mini and adding something spectacular to the neckline.

...sometimes procrastination is rewarding because when I tried it on with the belt {about a year later}, I fell in love. I just pull all the extra material from the sides to the back and it works.

Cousin It

This is what my hair looks like when I do not blow it dry. I try to scrunch it but it's really straight so basically, I just don't brush it after washing it. I call it my "beachy" look. It's really just barely passable. But I don't like drying my hair unless I have to.

There is really no better way {at work} to show you my shoes when wearing a dress but it looks like I'm doing the freaking Can Can.

earrings ~ gold leaf {gift}

I added a gold collar necklace but it seemed like too much with the belt. I hate wearing bracelets to work because they clackCLACKclack on my desk when I type ...ugh. kill.

bag ~ marc by Marc Jacobs 2008
shoes ~ marc by Marc Jacobs 2006 {wedding shoes}
manicure ~ OPI "Siberian Nights" ...{I bring my own so I can do touch-ups at home} clearly, I'm not keeping up with my mani

Dear World's Best Boss,

If you ever happen to come across this blog and see any of my outfit posts, I just want to say that I am truly sorry for using work time ...but, I'm very quick ~ like warp speed!

Also, I apologize for being late this week, but you've been in Europe and the traffic has been unbearable.

Sincerely,
Maegan

p.s. Don't forget to leave a comment to enter the tote bag giveaway ...ends tomorrow!

The Best Blow Jay Everrrrr

I love my husband so much.

When we moved in together in 2004, we purposely bought an L shaped couch so that we could lay on it together and our heads would be close while watching movies or tv late night. He lays on his back in the L and I lay on my side with my head near his chest ...and for at least two hours every night ~ he plays with my hair.

Can I tell you that as soon as his hand touches my head ~ I relax. As soon as I feel his fingers running through my hair, touching my scalp, back and forth, up and down, round and round ...I am in an entirely different state of mind. In fact, just thinking about it, typing it ~ is relaxing me. ...and it's not just anyone's hand that can arouse this reaction, there is just something about my husband's touch.

And he does it ... All. Night. Long. ...or, until we fall asleep.
...and so what if I wake up with a knotted, matted dread lock on one side of my head because seriously

It feels so insanely good, it's almost orgasmic.

...and in return, I give him The Best Blow Jay Everrrrr

The other day, as I was about to "make my husband happy", I thought of the term Blow Jay that "Becca" used from the movie Superbad. Of course, I started laughing hysterically ...which technically, is not an optimal time for laughter, but I think my husband is quite used to me by now and just, sort of, waits for me quietly ...smiling. I mean, I did have his manhood in my hand so really, where was he gonna go?

So Superbad got me thinking {manhood still in hand} about the actual term blow job and I wondered if anyone ever in history had ever been confused by it?

Blow Job. I mean, you don't actually blow air on it or around it, and you certainly do not blow air in it. So where, oh where did the blow come from?

Of course, this entire convo was taking place while my husband was waiting there, watching me literally demonstrate blowing air on it and laughing. ...and then laughing some more

...I'm guessing it was worth the wait ...but I still don't have an answer to my question.

Gilt Group & Twenty8Twelve

I heart Gilt Group ...but every time I finally make it to their site, either the sale is over or anything that I would buy is already sold out. Needless to say, I kind of gave up.

But about 10 minutes ago, I just happened to be trolling all your bloggies I follow in my blogger dashboard and found the post titled Twenty8Twelve over @ Jessica Sutton's blog {who I am in love with right now}. So, I went over to Gilt.com and found this blazer. and I fell in love.

...and they still had my size!!! ...so I splurged. {it was originally 600$} And now I am so excited!

I was planning on going to a vintage shop to find a new black blazer but this is just so perfect it had my name written all over it.

If you want to join gilt, give me your email and I'll send you an invite :)

...and go check out Jessica Sutton's blog just because she is awesome!
