Completely Gratuitous Outfit Post

{photos via iMach photo booth cam}

What I'm Wearing

Skirt: Lamb
Deep V sweater: Forever 21
Lace cami ...unknown
Leather belt with gold clasp: Vintage {ebay}
Tights: ancient ...probably from high school and I am old people
Patent Wedges: Steven ...Steve Madden ...also ancient.
Brass Hoops
Sunnies: Tom Ford
Hair: eh ...not great today. I brushed it out too much ...oh well.

I've had this skirt forever now but haven't worn it until today ...and here's why:

1. It's too big and I couldn't figure out how to make it work but didn't want to send it back because I love it and it was on sale and this was the only size left. So, I rolled it up {as I used to roll up my school skirt} and pulled the sweater over it instead of under it as was my first thought. It adds a couple inches to my waist but oh well.

2. I hate tights. I wear more dresses in the summer because I don't have to wear tights. They are TIGHT ...and I hate that. But the ones I'm wearing today I randomly found in a drawer and again, they must be ancient because they are kind of loose ...but I'm starting to feel them sag at the crotch and it's already annoying the fuck out of me.

3. I knew I'd have to wear a belt around my waist and that bugs me as well. It makes me feel like I can't breathe and I'm going to pass out ...especially when driving. {even though I wear it loose around my waist} And I think by the end of the day I end up bloated from it.

4. My shoes slip off when I wear tights with them.

Damn I'm a fussy betch! While I love all the elements and I love the outfit ...I prefer comfort, and that's a rather newish development which I'm guessing has to do with age.

I am so sleepy tired today I could nap right here at my desk. It's been a long and busy week for us and on top of it our little Pug, Bebop was very very sick last night. He is on his way to the vet now and I'm hoping he's okay.

So happy to say that it's Friday ...I just want to curl up on the couch with the husband and doggies and watch movies all night long. ...hope you all have a fabulous one!

{one last thing ...yesterday I hopped over to K-line's place just to say hi and found that she posted the nicest little post anyone could ever post ...about me. I was blushing and smiling ...to say the least. Thank you, again :) ...check her out!

hott!! youve got great fashion sense my dear!!

Hope your puppy will be well again soon. I've now got that stomach flu Scott and M bandied around for 2 weeks and I feel like death. It's so gross. So I'm especially compassionate for all the sick beings in the world.

That skirt is amazing. What an elegant look. I would suggest that you take it to a seamstress and have her nip the waist or take in the seams (if you think the drape can stand it). Because nothing will make you dread a gorgeous skirt like feeling like it's bulky and adding bulk.

Thanks for mentioning my post / blog. I enjoy reading here every day and I want to make sure that any of my readers (who doesn't already know you) has a chance to share the great experience :-)

I just got a text from my husband at the vet ...the doc said that Bebop needs back surgery asap but he'll need to go to the specialist next week to make sure and most likely it will cost 5-6K. *sigh

...love Maegan said...

Just found out that Bebop now has to be hospitalized over night for a horrible bladder infection which may be causing his back to go out....which means maybe he doesn't need the surgery. hopefully. My husband is a wreck.... I hope he's going to be okay.

I mean, if we're this upset over our dogs, how hard must it be when children get sick?
...and can we handle it? I dunno.

love the belt! the v-neck is great too - forever21 is the best.

despite all the problems you seem to have with this outfit, it is one of my favorites i've seen so far - refined but sexy and overall amazingness

I love this outfit. I spent the frist 21 years of my life living in England so tights were my friend back then. SInce moving to the sunny shores of Ca. I have thrown them away!

Love your blog. I will follow if you follow me!

I just left a comment but I don't think it worked. So leaving it again. Sorry if its a repeat.

Love that belt! You get to dress so cute at work -lucky! I have to dress more professional. Wish I could have more style at work. Unfortunately Express and the Limited are my best friends for work. Snore ;)

amazingly gorgeous as ever.
I hear you, firday is always a bitch to me, do tired.
and i'm also so glad you fixed that follower widgets, cuz it was FUGLY.
what was blogger thinking eh?

maeghan said...

Oh, god... I wore a similar outfit last week (in that it involved tights, a slightly too-large skirt [that I felt looked better shorter with the outfit], and a belt [to fix the skirt issue]), and I faced the same issues that bugged you in your outfit today.

If you think it's age, well... I'm 22, so I really have NO excuse.

You look fabulous as usual.
Love the skirt.
Have a great wkend

Ohhh I am so in love with that skirt, I reckon you should send it my way, I'm sure it'd fit me better haha.

I can't believe you hate tights *faints*. I'm the total opposite, I feel lost if I'm not wearing them...
dude, I think I'm an oddball.

Have a great weekend

I love the honesty. I have a hard time with tights too.

tanya said...

I never wear a belt over my shirt for that reason too--it always feels confining, BUT I think it looks great on you and I am in love with this belt... so much in fact, that I'm willing to give this look another try :-) Pretty outfit!

K.Line said...

Hey M - Still giving you positive puppy vibes. That's all very stressful, I know...

I have something for you in my blog. Please check it.

Great job on creating an outfit around that skirt!

I really hate that saggy crouch tight problem. If I have a pair that starts doing that I have to take them off - drives me crazy.

I hope Bebop is doing ok!

What a great outfit! I love your style! And its so great to know that you didn't have to spend a lot of money to look great!

Hope your little guy gets better! He's adorable :)

i think i'd be fussy to if i was in your shoes. comfort is key for me. anyway the skirt looks great on you. love the ombre.

TLT said...

Oh, I think you look great in that whole outfit actually! I cannot tell at ALL that the skirt adds inches to your waist. I can see why you didn't want to send it back either...it's gorgeous! The whole thing works--belt, tights, flat shoes, skirt and sweater. You totally pulled it off and I can't even tell that you felt any discomfort whatsoever :)

coco+kelley said...

LOVE the skirt m'dear!!

Kellie said...

I love the skirt! And I'm in total agreement of #2. I HATE tights. They do always feel like they are sagging in the crotch. What is up w/ that? And what a pain when you have to use the restroom!

Nil said...

You look so beautiful I love that top! And the doggy is amazingly adorable :)

Manja said...

Your outfit looks amazing! I would have kept that skirt, too! I have a skirt that is slightly too big for me (okay, way too big) and I always have to use safety pins to take in the sides.
Your little pug is so cute!

Cyrielle said...

Your style is amazing! I love LAMB but in my country there is no place where you can buy it :'(
Super Nice Blog!!

ok...here is my amazing tip for long legged people wearing tights when the croch falls down and your thighs rub together...maybe that's just me. put panties OVER your tights! it really really works
