Completely Gratuitous Outfit Post

{images via the iMac photo booth cam}

What I'm Wearing
cut-out skirt: Farmer's Market
Pink deep v sweater: Forever 21
White long tank: Rubbish {Nordstrom.com}
Boots: BCBG
Sunnies: Tom Ford

I'm clearly wishing it were spring today ...and judging by the weather here in LA, it feels like it's just about here, so I'm going with it. That said, I really wasn't too creative this morning and this was all I could come up with. Anything I added just felt wrong ...I tried a belt, a scarf ...nothing worked.

Last night my husband and I got into a discussion about fashion which was eye-opening to say the least. I love hearing a man's view because it's often the complete opposite of a woman's.

We scrolled through my outfit posts on the old blog all the way back to the beginning so I could get some visual examples of what exactly he doesn't like. Every outfit that he pointed out as "good" was one that I thought was totally boring and unfinished ...much like today, something is just missing in my opinion. Maybe a necklace would have helped ...maybe a huge pair of earrings ...I dunno but I bet I'd know it if I saw it.

He used a food analogy: "It's like you have this really great cupcake and all it needs is a little icing but then you add a candy bar and some m&m's and more icing and then it just ruins the cupcake."

He complains that I cover up all the goods and basically wishes that I wore a body conscious, cleavage enhancing, leg revealing dress with no sleeves all the time. I said "What about during winter? ...when it's um, cold?" ...he just giggled.

This morning as I was leaving he told me I looked really pretty ...I told him I felt hideous. ...and there you have it.

I like this outfit! It has a country feel (not hick country, but laid-back, romantic country) which I think is best done simply because country livin' is simple.

And there's a take from someone who knows nothing about fashion, but wishes she did! Lol.

yes maybe a big necklace that hangs like the v in the vneck...maybe the same color as the buckle in your boot....or the rim around your glasses....you still look fab!!

I like the outfit, but I like all your clothing options! LOL. Also, very accurate and funny depiction of how guy's views of fashion are... /sigh

That is the EXACT argument I have with my husband. I could wear something that I don't like that much but he'll comment that I look great. Then when I think I'm wearing something fab, he'll be all, um, well, I'd rather see a plunging neckline. My complaint? I'm not dressing like that to go to work. His response? WHY NOT? LOL. Can't win!

i'm wishing it was getting warmer here.

HA. this sounds exactly my husband. Suffice to say, my fashion sense isn't up his alley--but fitted skirt/top/etc totally is. Love that skirt, by the way :-) very pretty!

I've had this convo too...It's amazing as to what a guys point of view really is. They prefer to see curves and cleavage! The jewelry & make-up side really doesn't matter. What's with them?

I'm loving this look on you!

Men don't care about fashion. All they care about is if they can see the goods (boobs, ass, legs). If they can, then they like it, if they can't then they don't. Simple. :)

You always look beautiful but this is not my favourite outfit for you, I suppose I am just a girl with a taste for icing.

So very pretty!
Isn't it interesting what they find pretty, sexy, interesting, too much, etc. Always so enlightening talking to the hubs about fashion. Had fun reading about your conversation.

All of my guys friends have continued to say the same all the way down to when I am bare faced, have my hair up and am just plain. They like that better. So basically I have come to the realization that we girls only dress for one another ..lol

Lady! You don't know what 'hideous' is. I'm wishing that I had boots like yours. Now I really want them.

Your skirt is lovely! Perfect for spring...

Men have very weird and very basic ideas about fashion (John Galliano & Elie Saab aside)- Mr B is exactly the same.

For what it's worth, I like this outfit. It's very Little Miss Cowgirl, which I mean in a good way.

I think (hetero) guys like girls in girlie clothes, but generally don't like "fashion". They just want you to look pretty, they're not too concerned with who or what you're trying to channel (or maybe those are just the heteros in my life!)

I can't wait for spring to get to Canada, although even when it finally comes I'll be shocked if I wear anything that's not black. I think I have a grey dress and a grey shirt, otherwise it's all black.

How very "tortured art student", haha.

And I am off to get a pair of those boots RIGHT NOW...

Never ask a straight guy. He would be happy if all you had were a mink thong, stripper tassles, and a flat hat for him to put his sandwich on.

I think this outfit is fab! I love the boots with the white skirt (and the pink sweater finishes it off perfectly!) I can completely relate to the feeling like an outfit is boring and just needs "something," but I think this one looks great.

I like your outfit...it reminds me of springtime and it's very feminine and pretty! It was funny to read about your husband's reaction to your outfits... I feel like guys have SUCH a completely different view of what they like to see on a woman and it's confirmed yet again by you! :)

can I come live in your closet for a few days?! wow! EVERYTHING YOU HAVE IS AMAZING! (maybe its just that YOU make everything look SO perfect!)
