Just so ya know ...and you may already

This painting by David Hockney which has been in a private collection from its conception sold at Christie's auction house last Wednesday for $7.9 million USD.

The woman in the painting is Betty Freeman {who was the owner as well}. It's titled "Beverly Hills Housewife" and is part of the "California Dreaming" series Hockney created in Los Angeles in the late 60's.

I was lucky enough to view this {in digital photo form} in it's original hanging place along with the rest of the private collection. And let me tell you, the house was off the hook cool. Untouched decor since the 1960's. I wish I could post the photos here.

{source of this amazing photo has escaped me. apologies. but I love it}

It is so 1970's cool. He really captures the facades of L.A. life and the light that only exists here.

I LOVE Hockney!! I went to his hometown in Yorkshire where there's an exhibition of his theatre sets as well as a few of his photo collages... so inspiring.
