Since I seem to be in the midst of my own personal "fashion week" due to my changing work schedule and my DIY Petal Louboutins, I thought I'd just succumb to it and continue to ride the fashion wave.
That said .. .
I have been on the hunt for the perfect electric/royal blue pump for a while now but really, I just don't want to fork over the big bucks for a shoe that's not a classic and the less expensive versions look cheap and tacky to me. A shoe that may not last as many seasons as I'd like it to is not worth my hard earned cash ...and then I remembered that I ALREADY HAD a pair of blue heels that I have never worn and instead have been collecting dust in the back of my closet! ...but really, I don't love them ...which is why I never wore them.
But you know what that means?!??! ANOTHER DIY PROJECT!!
So {shoe in hand} I stopped by Jo-Ann's fabric on the way home to pick up some supplies, because unlike my last DIY, I didn't have everything I needed for this one. I originally thought feathers! ...and I did grab some peacocks but there wasn't really the right blue for the entire look. Then I thought ribbon! ...and found a close match but it still seamed a bit tacky. So I wandered over to the fabrics and low and behold I ran right into the absolute perfect match in a crepe satin and bought about a yard of it.
...and I'm thinking something similar to these {below}
...but this may call for a sewing machine stitch and that just feels like too much work.
I could just do the exact same thing as I did with the previous DIYs but that would be boring really and I think with this fabric I'd have to be more precise about cutting the leaves out. I definitely want whatever I make to be removable but that makes it a bit more challenging. hmmm ...really, I'd like to do them tonight and wear them tomorrow but it's already almost 9pm ...what to do? ...what to do?

What about loops of ribbon that are attached to another piece of ribbon? Your fabric might work if it doesn't fray. That's almost what it looks like to me.
You could start with a piece as long as your shoe then burn the ends so it won't fray, then make 4 loops, each a little larger than the next and attach them to the base ribbon.
Just use "stich witchery" or some other no sew glue - even a glue gun if you're hard up for supplies.
When you finish attaching the ribbons you could hot glue the ends of the base ribbon around the ankle strap and the toe strap to anchor it in place. The hot glue should peel off if you don't want your shoes like that all the time.
Just a thought. Good luck!
great idea. i think you can def do this without a sewing machine. you are def giving me ideas to turn some of my old shoes into something new! can't wait to see the results of this diy!
I have Charles David "Pompadour" pumps in royal blue and they are fantastic and ultra sexy. only negative is that they are suede...hard to wear in the summer months. But they were $125 which is much more reasonable than my man CL.
I really LOVE how you get so creative with your DIY projects, i think it's because i love doing DIY anything. I am a shoe freak, but i haven't been able to buy any in years, and i have two pairs that don't fit me quite so well anymore, because for some reason my feet decided to get skinnier, so now the shoes are too big on my feet. So i decided i would re-con them, and i got this great idea from looking at some shoes the other day that are handmade, they're "Mohop" shoes, and you can make them into whatever style of shoe you want, such a great idea. Check them out if you like, they are not exactly the same style at all you posted in the picture above that SJP is wearing - BUT they could spark up some ideas for you :)

You're so funny. I am no DIY princess, but really admire your hard work and determination...I know you twittered that "blogspot" blogs aren't showing up in Google Reader...I'm having some technical difficulties with my blog...do you know what's up with that??
What did you do? I must see them!
I have to admit, I only wear heels to weddings. I'm tall at about 5'9" and have this extreme hatred of wearing anything uncomfortable. So I'm living vicariously through you. I do have some awesome flat sandals though, haha. And actually there's no reason I couldn't DIY on some old ones I don't wear anymore... a Sunday project perhaps?
You know, i think you could probably pull off those Carrie CL shoes without a sewing machine...don't ask me how but I'm living my DIY fetish vicariously through you, so let us know if you end up trying :-)
I can not wait to see them!
and so funny because I just spent way too much money on a pair of royal blue Dior pumps and thought that I was crazy because who spends that much money on blue pumps right? But since you say blue pumps are cool than i feel better already!
I am a little late to the party and already saw the final result...totally fabulous! as I said before, you should totally start a side business doing these!
I am in awe of your do it yourself talents & anxiously awaiting what you make of your blue shoes!
My favorite pair of heels is an electric blue Ralph Lauren set that I picked up at DFW for something like $20. I live in them (when my feet can handle it). Just saying that I totally agree on the color choice - it's surprisingly versatile. And I love the finished product!
