From T-Shirt to Fringe Necklace
recycle your clothes ~ DIY ~

tshirt-fringe-necklace

What you'll need . . .

tshirt-fringe-necklace-1

everyone has an old T-shirt, right?
....these happen to be GAP Stretch

tshirt-fringe-necklace-2

cut shirt . . . either way works . . . I made the green fringe larger

tshirt-fringe-necklace-3

leave full length or cut to desired length

tshirt-fringe-necklace-4

. . . pull over head . . . voila!

tshirt-fringe-necklace

tshirt-fringe-necklace-9

. . . or wear them on your arms

tshirt-fringe-necklace-8, sweat pant dressing, fashionable sweat pants, fashion sweatpants

. . . or around your head . . .but I forgot to snap a shot of that

*note: I wasn't planning on doing a DIY this weekend but this idea popped in my head yesterday afternoon while I was cleaning out my drawers . . .and knowing that these t-shirts were not going to get worn in original form, I turned them into something new. I have a brown one I'll probably DIY as well ...because seriously, this post is taking longer than the DIY, it's so easy.

*disclaimer: while I have been cutting up old t-shirts for decades {as many of you probably have too}, it has always been into another style of t-shirt to wear ...as a t-shirt. I have seen many fringe necklaces {and made one} but not like this. IF however I am wrong and this idea is not my own, please do let me know so I can link to another previous version of this DIY.

Those are super cool, i am always re-constructing stuff to make them into new things as well, funny enough, last night as i was going through a directory of sewing and crafty blogs, i found some handmade necklaces that were made out of fabric, and they looked awesome, as well as a really cool scarf that i plan on making, i plan on making them all! i love them so much.

I am always excited to learn a new way to cut up a Tshirt. haha. some girls and I get together for "Craft Night" - we drink and craft. haha! I will have to suggest this idea - we're having one this friday!

Omigosh, this is sooo cool! I really love rehashing things, as it also keeps your planet green. I know, I know it's cheesy and mushy, but that's the way I put it as a "green planet" advocate. ;-)

I always wanted to deconstruct my old tees. Aside from using them as "pambahays" (Tagalog slang which means clothes used only at home), now I think I know what to do. ;)

Iva said...

I really LOVE those pants! and I mean LOVE. I have a similar pair (although def not as cool) and my husband is so not a fan of them either....but my mom hates them even more. HA, is what I say to that!

as for the DIY, were do you come up with this stuff?! Ah if only I could be so creative!

I just made one of these and it is really cool. I used a never-worn olive t-shirt. Once it was done, I paired it with a deep purple silk scarf with long fringe and they look great together. This is, without a doubt, one of best diy t-shirt surgeries I've come across. I'm so glad I found your blog!

I made this today! Can you say easy. fun. cute. I used the same shirt to make a scarf, headband, and this necklace. I actually went to Goodwill and found a nice men's size medium black top, brought it home, and my guy stole it and gave me one of his shirts. If I would have only known I had shirts in his closet to do this with, it sure would have saved me a trip :o) Thanks for the DIY, I love them all! Next is the army green military shirt, just got the dyes and cut up the shirt!
