As I was browsing through the Vogue Accessory Italy Spring/Summer 2009 magazine last night {which I was lucky enough to receive from an ex co-worker just yesterday ...thank you By Twil!} I stumbled upon this fabulous tassel necklace by Blugirl and fell in love. And then I remembered that just last week I specifically went to JoAnne's to pick up some chains to stitch onto my bikini ...but didn't use them because the ruffle came to me after and clearly, I thought it was better. And then right after that I remembered that the trip to JoAnne's prior to that I snatched up a few upholstery tassels because I was thinking about making earrings out of them ...and clearly, never did!
Voila! I have my new favorite necklace. Here's what you'll need...
If you have a long chain ...or preferably, two long chains that you can hook to each other, then all you need to buy are the tassels {$3-4.99 each}...{or you can make your own out of leather!}
... but the craft chains are only {$3-4.99} each
...they're the FRYE Women's Emily Slingback Platform

...but clearly I'm in love with my new Helmut Lang Silk Romper!
...I knotted the black one twice to shorten the length between chain & tassel
...and this one almost looks like nipple tassels ...lol!

Yes, great and EASY DIY. I will be making these this weekend, for sure. I actually love the shoes. The chunk factor will give a nice edge to girly dresses and skirts. They're also awesome for jeans. Keep 'em!
Cute and easy DIY....i might be able to do this one...even though awhile back i bought something similar that i havent worn in awhile..mine is not a chain more like beads.

I HEARD about that magazine from DG on Monday and I am dying to get it, now even more so! This is a DIY I can do and not jack up!!! I'm not sure about those shoes...I didn't care for them from the front, but I like the side view so maybe!
yeah ...me too ..I love the side view but something is just weird in the front ...like they're not high enough on the ankle or not low enough ...I dunno. I think they may cut my legs off and/or not flatter.

I absolutely LOVE tassels. I bought some cheap ones recently and made them into earrings, but I love this idea too! And it looks like it just might be easy enough to fit my humble abilities.

About those shoes...I love how they look from the side. I know for some, the shoe may appear too heavy -- but I think it works and gives off an edgy look with the romper. I say give them one more try and then see how you feel about them:)

I love the tassel necklaces, they are adorable! And you're right about the shoes, I think they are quite fabulous but maybe there's something a bit off about them. But sometimes I just think that when a fad is just too advanced for me and I am being a square :~)
