I got this in my inbox today and when I opened it the first thing I noticed was not the shoes or the leggings or the red dress you were advertising ...what I noticed was the absolute WORST RETOUCHING JOB I've seen in a while. Look at those feet!?!?! Now, to be fair, the website images are not as bad, in fact, they are fine. But who does your email images? Is he/she on vacation because this is some amateur work if I've ever seen any.
I guess what I'm trying to say, Neiman Marcus, is you should hire me instead ;)

They could also just get models with better feet, so less retouching is required. I in no way look anything like a model, but I do have fabulous feet, so I will volunteer myself. And I only take payment in shoes.

haha!! I'm actually a freelance prop stylist for NM and BG for their main online images and emails. I agree the in-house re-toucher always always overlooks details. Thankfully, I wasn't a part of this one.
As for models -- at least part models - which are the hands, feet, legs, other body parts -- they are usually just cute print models who have super thin legs and tiny feet since we only receive sample sizes for the shoots (35 or 36).
The budget is surprisingly not existent for shoots, so sometimes the parts model is actually the Art Director or me. Personally, I have gross stylist feet from running around all day at the studio -- so thus, sometimes the gross feet are mine. haha.

Consider this a letter of recommendation on Maegan's behalf. Hire her for the retouching bit. And also cause she'll look really cute modeling your clothes. And maybe also because she'll get a crazy discount and will bestow it upon her favoritest of bloggers;)
assuming the leggings have cutouts, which i'm pretty sure is being implied there, the legs are tres horrible as well.

Call me blind but can a savvy retoucher explain to me what everyone is seeing? They look a little gaunt and wobbly to me, and the front foot seems too small for the shoe but she is also leaning on that foot differently. Enlighten me!

you know, the web ones are probably only better because the resolution is most likely a bit lower and so you can't see all the horribleness....
like that one time i got Victoria's Secret in the mail and someone left a men's hand on the shoulder of one of the models... the rest had been cut out. probably the most HORRIFYING thing i've ever seen. ha ha.

And ANON: it's not about the model's ugly feet, it's about the blurred retouching job over the feet. Everyone's veins pop out in high heels ...I don't even try to retouch mine ...but I'm not trying to sell shoes either ..lol.

I used to work for NM and the work environment is awful and the pay is the pits. *Yes I am pissy, I actually took a pay cut to go work at that hellhole. So the fact that the retouch job is shoddy means, they got what they paid for...
ha, I hear you! It's amazing the lack of attention to detail out there sometimes :) I expect more from NM but their site just isnt that great.
