Note the face here ...there was a guy who stopped his car to watch me. I mean, traffic was building up behind him! I finally was like ...GOOOOOOOOOOO ...and he rolled down his window to blab something at me which I did not hear. I mean, I get that I look like a freak, modeling all by myself, and it's embarrassing enough but come on with it!

What I'm Wearing
* Vintage teal dress ...no label, could be hand-sewn. I found this little gem a couple weeks ago while hunting down a coat for my sleeveless diy. For some reason it was on the Halloween rack ...and I almost didn't try it on. The color is amazing ...and the eyelet design almost looks like little hearts. The lining has faded to a grayish purple and it's just so right peeking through. It was a tad tight in the shoulders and thinking it may rip, I thought I'd alter it by removing the arms and opening the side seams a bit. I love the turnout. It's a bit more contemporary and versatile this way. I made the matching belt out of one of the sleeves. Today is a very classic look but I really can't wait to wear this dress in a completely different way ~ See DIY.

Love this color and I even like the sleeves on this dress. But it does look a little younger in the sleeveless version. Great DIY post.

You are so crafty! I love reading your blog.
And as annoying as men can be with their ogling, we just have to remember that they're just men (and you're hot)! XO

wow, great job taking the sleeves off the dress. I love how you used some of the material from the sleeves to make a belt. I think the dress is a gorgeous find and you are very creative! Also, whenever I shoot photos near the street I get men yelling at me too, some pretty obscene things like 'take your skirt off' and stuff. Scares the crap outta me. People are so lame. Anyway, you look amazing as always and I love your DIY necklace!

OH I love it! It's timeless! Ugh, I hate when guys yell unintelligible things...the only thing worse is when you can understand them and they're saying, "Hey toots" which is what happened to me in the subway station yesterday. Um, thanks?

I really, really love this look. I want to do that necklace, but have so little time right now! Maybe I should make a mobile DIY station that I could take in the car with me while I'm running kids to sports practices. =^) But, that would mean I need to go shopping to find stuff for DIY. Ugh. Everything is just a huge cycle!!! But, I love my life. I guess I'll go without this necklace for a little while longer. Boo.

J-Diggety said...

That color is delicious!! As usual, I'm hella impressed with your DIY skills... to pay the bills... :)

New reader, LOVE your style! I find myself totally identifying with it - wants to have a classic style, but find myself a little more eclectic.

You do have a very classic-looking style, and your blog is awesome with so many tutorials!!! I'm tripping over myself to find a thick, tweedy coat! And, the rose disguising the jacket-cincher - pure genius!

Maegan, first of all, the dress is totally bombshell, and I couldn't be any more jealous.
Secondly, your subtle sense of humor totally cracks me up:
tights-old,
the ending story of telling that guy to Goooooooo,
the necklace diy that ends with "or you could just layer them", haha, priceless. : )

Beautiful. And very inspirational. I have a similar dress but in black, which I found in the Salvation Army in Miami. (Was on holiday, I'm from london and a vintage fiend that always thrift shops on holiday - it was scary in the SA but worth it for the dress!)

It has short sleeves and i'm very tempted to try this. Thanks!

You're looking so gorgeous here Maegan, and I think these photos are really good with four great poses. My favourite shot is the last one, apparently taken in the face of adversity. Not that I'm surprised to hear that you caused a traffic jam! Anyway, bravo for that (er, for getting the pic that is, not causing the traffic jam - though I'm happy to give you a cheer for that too). I wouldn't have guessed that you were under pressure or anything; you have an interesting and appealing expression, looking serene and beautiful with that graceful arched pose. Pose number two isn't far behind on my list though, where you're gazing at the camera and looking so seductive. Definitely another traffic hazard, that pose. :)

I love all the elements of your outfit, but especially the cardie with sleeves going just past the elbow. You've got such a feminine look here, sexy and classy, like from a bygone era. The shoes are a lovely design - I like the sturdy heel shape - and that blend of necklaces looks so good on you. Your hair meanwhile is completely dreamy. Smooth hair is my favourite and you've got so much of it! Reading your text, I see that you cunningly DIY-ed yourself the belt using the arms of the dress. Great result! It's all so lovely, and compliments again on the photos and posing. Fabulous work!
