Mixing Floral & Leopard Prints

What I'm Wearing
80s-60's-hair-bow-leopard-coat-2* Vintage leopard coat. My grandma made this in the 1960's. It's one of my absolute favorite pieces I own. The last time I wore it was at our wedding reception ...oh wait, and the following New Year's Eve. Leopard was huge in 2006 and clearly in the 60's as well. It's a staple and a pattern that always makes a comeback. It's classic. {also seen here}

* Cynthia Steffe silk dress ...snatched this from gilt.com last week!

* Steve Madden wooden heeled booties ...from 2006 ...and I'm not thrilled with them for this look but a more classic shoe was too much of a vintage throw-back. This needed a more modern shoe but again, I'm not 100% with these.

* 80's beaded hair bow barrette. This was actually mine from the 80's. I'm sure my mom and I shared it actually. But this morning I pulled my hair to the side and thought to myself "...I wish I had one of those big barrettes that would just hold this mass in place" ...and then it came to me.

* Tom Ford Yvette Sunnies

* Vintage earrings ...grandma's

* Vintage Gucci handbag ...found this on ebay about 10 years ago.

* Necklaces : My Gold Baubles DIY necklace, Vintage pearls and rhinestones all layered on top of each other

I'm 99% sure my Grandma is channeling me this week ...although I do love to use the entire month of October as a chance to dress up a bit more. It's a combination of the weather ...still warm but with enough chill to add new pieces into the wardrobe rotation and of course, Halloween. {all of which you already know if you follow me on twitter} I've been dying to wear this coat again and when I returned home yesterday to find a Gilt box on my doorstep, I knew this was the perfect opportunity to not only wear it but to jump head first in the pattern on pattern trend that had escaped me prior. What's funny is that any other solid jacket or blazer I paired with this dress just looked boring and so usual ...but I may try again later this winter. However, shooting my outfit shots this morning with leafy and colorful trees behind me was a mistake ...because they just added another pattern to the shot ...another something you already know if you follow me on twitter

I love your grandma. She had some fab style...and clearly you follow in her footsteps.

Can we just be BFF's and you can make one of each of everything you DIY?

That'd be great, thanks.

Ohmigod you look amazing in these pictures, like Jackie O meets Brigette Bardot!! Love the Leopard Print coat, I'm dying to get my hands on one this season, but I don't want to buy one from a high street store that 100,000 people are going to have, you're so lucky yours is an individual!! The sleeves are gorgeous too! You are also so lucky that it is warm enough to wear bare legs or even step outside, it's freezing here! Anyhu just wanted to pop by and say thanks for your comment! These pics really are amazing!! Love them! Sequinsandbangles xx

So funny. I'm totally channelling my Grandma this week as well. Totally not meaning to self promote here but lookit:

I have her taste and it is so, so lovely to be able to wear her things. Your Grandma's leopard print coat is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

My mum and I used to share hair bow clips back in the eighties too. No lie.

Thanks - this post has made me feel very nostalgic. :)
