That coat and jacket combo is great. You look like a modern, totally hot Jackie O (minus the blonde hair and all ).

you look beautiful, I love that dress, what a find!

I feel the same way sometimes...I look through like country living and cottage living and see these little gilmore girls-esque green communities and I just want to pack up and ship out. hell, if it weren't for certain family situations right now, I probably would.

southern california, for all of the good here, can really suck.

oh, and I eluded to your diy prowess in my post today lol

take me with you. :( the traffic lately has been making me want to bang my head against the windshield. ugh.

and you look so pretty and cozy and warm. :)

Gorgeous dress color! Traffic makes me boil as well..it's sooo frustrating!

I have those days, too, despite living in a small college town. I think wherever you go, your tolerance levels will adjust and adapt.

But if you do move, I have to say I love (and miss) Seattle. :-)

Love the dress and the shoes, but I'm not in love with the coat. It has a robe like quality too it. I'm sure it's quite comfy though. =)

FB @ FabulouslyBroke.com said...

This is definitely my kind of style!!

Love the big oversized jacket. I know it looks robe-like, but thats the fun of wearing it with a short, tight dress

The shoes.. are m favourite however

I've been noticing you've been wearing your hair in a more "blown out" look the past few outfits. Can you spill on what you're doing? Do you round brush it? I often round brush mine. Or, I'll scrunch the bottom and round brush the top for wavier look. But, usually I pull my fringe across the front and have almost a falsh-bang look. What do you do with yours? (Long comment. It seems I can't help but do anything else. Ever.)

I am so with you about the LA rat race. The idea that life seems so simple somewhere else is on my mind every day!

Love your blog btw! I've never commented before.

Well, come to Spain! Not much work, but the climate is wonderful and if you come to the south (I'm from Cádiz) traffic is usually not too stressful!

I love your blog! A greeting!

YOU need to move to Minneapolis. Great food, fab arts scene, decent shopping, and you can AFFORD it all!

The dress is magnifico ... as is that killer necklace.

Christina said...

I love that necklace. (:

Move to St. Louis! I lived in LA for 15 years and came to the midwest. You can have a huge house for what you pay for a cracker box there, more $$ for shopping and traveling....I work 30 miles from my job and the commute takes me 30 minutes in rush hour traffic!

love the necklace, btw.

Move to Florida, may be humid, but its beautiful and you get your moneys worth on everything!

Hello Maegan!! Your outfit is fab, so are you, I bet you can make a living anywhere you want to, so smile!!!

I thought you were a freelancer, I am one, I don't have to deal with the traffic, so I'm happy, but sometimes I miss human contact jaja.

Xoxo,

I love this outfit, and that you transformed the dress into a mini.

I sugesst FL the weather is great, although you probably wouldnt get much of a chance to wear that coat

Kellie said...

LA weather is great, but to me it wouldn't be worth it. I'm too spoiled up here in Minneapolis w/ a short commute and average mortgage. Although if I were to ever move home to Des Moines it would be even better. You can get a brand new house w/ over 2,000 sqft for under $200,000!!! Amazing!

So really I just want to move somewhere exactly like Minneapolis minus the cold weather!

Lisa Petrarca said...

I'm so over the heat, it's nice to see a coat. Love the whole outfit!

I'm in OC and whenever I have to go to LA I stress out! You should think about moving out here, beach + layed back small town feel.
Anyways, hang in there, it's almost Friday.

P.S. Blogging helps...I've been going through DRAMA lately and after blogging about it, felt much better!

Caroline, no. said...

I hear you. I live in central London and you get to the point you feel like pushing people under the tube. i.e. a little tense. :) AND THE WEATHER SUCKS HERE! at least you have the sun and beaches. and gorgeous shoes. love the outfit. :)

It's like you took the words directly out of my mouth! It's nice to hear another Angeleno say the exact things I've been thinking about living here lately. And morning traffic is a lesson in anger management -- a lesson I keep failing.

Ha, yes. I have the same feelings about LA every other day or so. But the IHATELIVINGINLA precedes, these days. I want to have two lives so one can be boring as all hell and the other can be insanely full and way too fast and busy.

I like the pairing of the necklace with the dress, by the way

RE: "life shouldn't be this hard." We left California 6 years ago for Austin, Tx. Best decision ever. We can afford LIFE here. The people are wonderful, the weather is great (minus a few warm months, but you can wear sundresses half the year,) we still have a strong economy, cheap homes and open minded people. We would love to have you!

Suzanne said...

i love the design of the dress, it look really good on you!

Felicia said...

I totally agree, and I think this comes with age too. I wish I would have spent more time living in L.A. when I was younger, because now I'm too old to deal with that shit. That's why I like Minneapolis because you get both the big city and small town feel. Although there is a ton of shit I hate about it too! HAHA!

Watkins Wackiness said...

You can move to Texarkana and be my friend!!! its cheap, growing, not far from Dallas, Little Rock, Memphis!!! Fun times!!!

if i could pay for you to shop for me and pick out all my clothes, i would in a heartbeat ;)

You are adorable! I never tire of seeing your cute outfits and your rockin' legs. Love your style...

Marbella Jewelry Designs said...

Where did you get those legs! wow!
I know how you feel about living in LA. When I was in my 20's, I used to commute from West Hollywood to Long Beach every morning and night. The stress of the bumper to bumper traffic really caused my health to suffer.

i freaking LOVE your outfit! everything the dress the coat! obsessed!

I love everything about this outfit! the dress is such a pretty color and the shoes and necklace look perfect with it!

I don't live right in LA but I know how the traffic is. I don't think I could deal with that every day. I interned in LA last year and got a little taste of it, but it wasn't too bad because it was only twice a week and not in downtown...

still, even living in Simi (you know where I am? :) I can understand the woes of a small apt (shared with two boys!), paying too much rent with not enough cash flowing in! though, despite all that, I still dream of moving to New York one day (I've never even been!)

I guess Frigid Toronto is out of the question!

gooooooorgeous,.. you make me wanna go buy a coat haha

Saskia said...

I know exactly what you mean Maegan. It's the same for us - living in London is extortionately expensive. We'd never be able to get a bigger house here without completely screwing ourselves over financially - and there's not a chance I could stay home with children in future if we're here. Our house is the size of a shoebox and the traffic makes me want to scream. We will definitely move somewhere cheaper and quieter in a few years... Bring it on.

I love the necklace and your hair! I just recently found your blog and I pretty much love it! It has gotten me through a-plenty of boring days at work ;) Anyway I live in Rhode Island only a couple of hours north of NYC its awesome and truly never does sleep...but I feel exactly the same way about it as you as far as living there goes. I also spent some time in LA a few years ago but too many people for sure! You would hate our weather but honestly the sub-urban life of peace when you need it and also have to have it is totally worth the cold!

jennster said...

i'm from LA and i'm currently living in nor cal. i freaking hate it and i miss so cal everyday. yeah the traffic sucks, but for everything else that i love about it- it's all worth it.
i do really dream of having a beautiful southern home with laid back attitudes and pleasant neighbors and shit that probably doesn't really exist except in movies, so i should know better... but i can't imagine living that way RIGHT NOW. when i retire, yeah. but right now, i still like being where shit is happening. i still like being in the know, surrounded by my industry, etc. and i totally hear you about new york. LOVE that place! want a loft there for weekend getaways!

Clorivak said...

I am like so in love with this dress..it's hawt. It reminds me of 60's ladies.
I hear ya on about the traffic..there is nothing more freaking frustrating and it makes you want to rips head off. I don't think its healthy or normal for someone to be that stressed but that if what being stuck in traffic does to people.
Hmmm...Hawaii??? hahah..for some reason you talking about moving made me think of there...dunno why..hehe.

this look is fabulous!!!
and i know what you mean about nyc. i live in nyc now...and after a while it starts to get to you. my husband and i can't wait to move far away and have a big house and MORE SPACE.

Absolutely Not Martha said...

like the saying goes...grass is always greener. my 2 cents? we did the small apartment in nyc AND the big house with huge yard thing in small new england town--now we're back to apartment living in the heart of LA, and i must say i'm really loving it. you'll figure it out. xo
