Dear Emu of cozy Australian footwear,

emu-australia-boots-ad

I just want to commend you on your model choice for this ad found in the latest fashion magazines like Elle, Vogue & possibly Bazaar {I can't remember which one I yanked it out of} ...for you chose not a ridiculously skinny 12 year old girl to represent today's woman, you chose a healthy girl and not only that, you chose to display her nice round healthy butt in it. I can't tell you how much I adore this ad, not only because I too have a similar backside, but for what it represents ...a real {or closer to} real woman.

Thank you.

In searching for Emu, I found that this model won a competition to be the ass face of Emu ...and they're having another model search contest for 2010. Click here to enter {not sure if it's still going on though}

Thank you for highlighting what the industry is doing RIGHT. Thank goodness for a bit of meat.

Juicy! Finally.

Except isn't it unfortunate that some of that brown sand somehow ended up in that spot...either that or the shading is just off.

i do like this add but the first time i saw it i thought it was a misprint because it looks like she started her period in those white bottoms. then i realized it looked the same in all the other magazines and must just be a reflection

Yay, she doesn't look like she's about to collapse on the spot! Good work Emu. Although I agree with the comments above. It's a little unfortunate about the shadow...looks like a little accident :D

how crazy, I don't think I noticed the shadow looking anything like a shadow/butt crease. how funny! This is the image from their site which is a bit harsh/red ut the magazine ad {in my flickr} is a bit more washed out.

I'm Australian and a lot of our ads are like this. We love a meaty behind! What I really love about this is that it's a HEALTHY body. I love that athletic, solid, strong bodies are considered attractive in Australia and it's what us Aussie ladies are famous for! xxx

seriously, what is that login above? ...it's me.

and for the record. I HATE WORD VERIFICATION...but get mad spam if I don't. :/

also, love the comment in between my two. direct from Australia!

haha yeah, when I first saw this ad I thought... "Skid mark...?" but it is a nice photo, love the non-toothpick model

How wonderful! I am currently writing a paper on photoshopping and the models that are used in ads and whether it is protected "speech" (it goes deeper than that, but gets complicated in the legal terms).

The face of Emu, or the BUTT of Emu?

Wish I had a rounder butt like that.

*sigh* We all wish for what we don't have... I guess.

Style on a String ..because style has nothing to do with money.

Had other ladies not pointed out the spot, I would have never seen it.
I love that the model has a woman's body, for once I don't have the immediate reaction to try and feed a model. Give it up for the booty!

I love this ad! Plus Emu is an authentic Australian company, not an evil offshore bully pretending to be Australian just to trade off our culture! Yes, I am talking about Ugg Australia. Eeeevilll.

I love it. I love the fact that she looks super healthy, and that she's normal (though I hate that word, it's actually normal to be super-skinny for some women). Plus she reminds me of me, hehe... (don't we all just want to get confirmation that we are ok as me are?).
But I must also add that to me, most pictures in ads in glossy magazines are nothing but imaginary dream-images, and if the models are super-perfect, well, I wouldn't expect or aspire to look like that anyway (hey, who has a team of makeup-artists and stylists + the best photographers and light tecnicians in the world at hand all the time, or ever...?).
