Boots with Chains ...& a baby ball bag

dolce-vita-boots-with-chains-2

I didn't realize when I purchased both of these items that they would match until this morning when I decided to post about them ...and now seeing them together makes me like each even more.

Originally I was going to ask you if I should keep both ...when usually I am sure, both of these had issues ..that is, again, until I saw them next to each other.

I got the boots from bloomingdales.com ...they're Dolce Vita Gray Flash Bootie {10$ cheaper at amazon & still have many sizes in gray} ...and in theory, I love them. They have two problems however. 1. The left bootie arrived with a defect on the heel. They were rubbed somehow after production ...and I can only tell that because the plastic heel topper is rubbed as well. Now, I don't really mind the look of this and thinking of sending them back and waiting for a new pair is the number one reason I still have them {two weeks now -sitting in my office}. The #2 problem is the angle at which they arch. You sort of sit back on the heel which, I must admit, makes them more comfortable, but less flattering on the legs. Now, I'll probably be wearing them with more pants than skirts so it may not matter ...but still, do I chose comfort over looks? Not usually. But I do like these.

The leather baby ball bag is Olivia Harris {by Joy Gryson} which I snatched from gilt.com and was just delivered a day or two ago ...and really didn't love it until about 20 minutes ago paired with the shoes. They are a perfect match. I'd actually love to add a few dark silver chains to it and I think that would make all the difference. The straps are really long so it's perfect over the chest as a little messenger style ball bag.

I am now definitely on the keeping them side of the fence ...what do you think?

*also noted after photoging this -my tan is fading ...which is a true sign that summer is indeed over. boo. hoo.

**also. Happy December.

***also. Thank you for your comments yesterday. :)

Well, I'm head over heels for those boots (no pun intended), but the bag ... not so much. It's cute, but so TEENSY!

I've been drooling over those boots for some time now, but I'm on a budget right now, so I just have to hope santa brings them for Christmas. I say keep both. I love black, leather, and chains.

The boots are great - I have been eyeing these ones from bebe for a while now and they are identical!

Both items are gorgeous Maegan, and your photos are beautifully sharp and clear. Er, and sexy! The items are a great match as you say, and would be an even better match if you add a few extra chains to the bag like you were thinking. As for the left boot, I wasn't really able to make out the heel defect from your pics - we could've done with a close-up there - so I doubt it would notice to anyone even if you don't get a replacement pair. Your talk about the arch angle making them less flattering on the legs was a bit of a mystery to me. You're making it sound like they're not proper sexy high-heels or something, but they definitely fit that bill from where I'm standing, and I'd say they're looking plenty flattering on you. It was frustrating not to see them as part of a whole outfit though. Maybe next time? Replacement issue aside, I therefore say keep 'em! And the bag too.

Hey, I've just noticed a zipper handle on the heel. So there's a zip down the back? Should've shown us! Oh, hold on, I've just clicked the shopping link you gave; yep, zipper confirmed. I guess you would've had a hard time getting into them otherwise! And gosh, Dolce Vita do some great looking boots; you must've had a hard time choosing. Anyway, please give us a completely gratuitous outfit post featuring these items soon; that would be fabulous!

PS: Have moths got to your pretty pink carpet? There's not much of it left now…

Love the shoes and the bag Meagan, I read your post yesterday and I today happen to come across this movie and i think that you should watch it. It might help your anxiety.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjhT9282-Tw

Its the story of Rick Simpson. He found out using Hemp Oil it cured cancer and other diseases. Maybe if you ingest it it will the help anxiety more.

Well hope this helps,

Love love those boots, definitely for keeps!

About your post yesterday, the only thing I can say is that I honestly hope you can find happiness in your life. Personally I´ve found a great therapist and my life totally changed. I understand if you had bad experiences that you don´t trust them, but also you want to stop feeling depressed.

Wish you all the best!

Hey Maegan! Hope you're feeling a little better - or at least deciding to see a professional has helped you along that path back to wellness:-)

As to the scratched heel lift on your boots - you can buy a new one for like $5-10 a pair - at a number of places, like online, Sears, or any cobblers'. Or a cobbler can replace it for you. However, the extreme angle of the shoe cannot be fixed - not even by a cobbler - since the shoe was formed on a last with that angle and the sole now anchors the upper permanently in that position. Abaete had a pair of heels for Payless this Fall that were really similar with the chains over the front. It's too bad - your dolce vita shoes are really cute.

Hope you can check out my Christian Louboutin for Rodarte super-spiked heels DIY tute that I posted on my blog!

The boots are cute as heck. Wondering if one could DIY something like that for unfortunate boots with no nifty chains.

hmmmm i'm loving the shoes. also heel defects don't really bother me because they always get them eventually.... well, at least mine do. heh. i'm such a klutz.

FashionAddict said...

OMGosh, don't you dare get rid of those...unless you are a size 9, then feel free to send them my way, LOL. You have thin enough legs that you don't need any extra arch. They will look fantastic with your clothes, I'm sure.

I see what you mean about the heel sitting back, but they look great. I feel in love with Steve Madden's ruffle bootie the other day. At $99 at nordstrom.com, they're still out of my price range right now. (I know. It's just where we're at currently.) But, they're one of the first I've found that doesn't gap horribly around my foot! And the ruffles are SO adorable.

On these, I do love the chain detailing. I bet you'd wear them way more than you realize.
