Chain Tassel Earrings ~ DIY ~

You can trim chains to hang at an angle ~ Try them on and make adjustments from there.
NOTE* I used the pliers to adjust the loop on the earring base
it was facing sideways and I wanted it in front.

I planned on doing these at the beginning of July but ended up doing the chain tassel long necklaces instead. So now I've done both.
You can get creative with this project and leave the tassels long if you wish and even add beads to the chains. They're really fun and while they do take a bit of patience as the chain links are very tiny, it's a pretty simple project. Have fun!

Dear Neiman Marcus,

I got this in my inbox today and when I opened it the first thing I noticed was not the shoes or the leggings or the red dress you were advertising ...what I noticed was the absolute WORST RETOUCHING JOB I've seen in a while. Look at those feet!?!?! Now, to be fair, the website images are not as bad, in fact, they are fine. But who does your email images? Is he/she on vacation because this is some amateur work if I've ever seen any.
I guess what I'm trying to say, Neiman Marcus, is you should hire me instead ;)
With kind regards,
Maegan

* Tan Lines : Love *

I LOVE tan lines. I can't be sure sure but I think it has something to do with my first Barbie ...who just so happened to be from Malibu, and very tan . . .

While I'm not a fan of them peeping out and ruining the look & line of an outfit, when completely undressed, I think it's 100% sexy . . .

. . . and spotlights the parts that make a woman's body different from a man's . . .

. . . which I think men like too ;)

And really, tan lines just remind me of the warm glorious freedom that Summer brings
. . . and I love Summer!

HAIR: second day curls - hair-to here - My husband is DYING over my hair right now. DYING. He just stares at me and tells me I'm pretty. It's really sweet but when I'm trying to have a conversation with him his eyes just glaze over and he cuts me off just to tell me I'm pretty ...so I started thinking, hey, I can use this to my advantage. Needless to say, you may be seeing the curls more frequently ...lol
As I was driving to the gallery this morning through Benedict Canyon, I realized the car behind be was following REALLY CLOSELY and driving a bit erratically ...and when I looked in my rear-view mirrors, the driver and passenger were sort of giggling and acting a bit crazy. When we stopped at a light, they pulled up really close and started taking pictures of my car with their cell phones and giggling even more. At this point I was 99% sure they thought I was a celebrity ...I wonder who they thought I was?

What I'm Wearing
* American Apparel loose gray tank top
* GAP green wide leg pants {I took the hem out to make them longer ...and like them rugged at the bottom. have had these for years}
* Pour La Victoire Women's Fanny Open-toe Platform
ummm, these little oxfords I just spotted are ADORABLE!
* Leaf necklaces ...gift from BFF Thanks Kell!
{I knotted the chain today to make it shorter - but the big gold leaf keeps flopping in front of the little silver one.grr.why can't everything be perfect all the time?}
* Tom Ford "Yvette" sunglasses
* Zac Posen handbag ...gilt.com
Hair ...see my hair-to here {and really, I just cringe watching vlogs of myself -so bad} ...I'm definitely happy with the way the curls turned out today however, I didn't pull all the curls out -there are still ringlets ...meaning, this could be two times bigger - and it probably will have grown by the end of the day! Today it feels very natural actually, as if I had really curly hair. LOVE IT! {and it kinda feels like Flashdance hair}
Isn't it funny how we constantly want what we don't have? I mean how many of you curly haired girls straighten your ringlets out daily? I would DIE for a big curly mane!
Very excited for Project Runway tonight. Gives Thursdays a whole new meaning!
We watched 17 Again last night and laughed almost as hard as we did while watching I Love You Man. Totally unexpected and totally funny.

How To Curl Your Hair With Sponge Rollers
...for Big Afro Curls!
* apologies for the blurring in and out.
and the lighting. and the fan. it's annoying.
. . . here's how the curlers look ...& the tight ringlets after you take them out - you may choose to leave the ringlets intact for a cute Shirley Temple look ;)

To get the afro, separate the curls with your fingers, one ringlet at a time. Do not use a brush. You can use a pick if you have one but I've found fingers do the trick quite well. After pulling & separating each ringlet, use your entire hands, fingers spread open, at the base of your head, to fluff from the root out. Continue separating curls until you like the look. It will get bigger over time, and fall a little.
. . . it's going to look something like this

Jane Iredale vs Bare Minerals
I've been using Bare Minerals powder foundation for over four years now and have loved it so much that I may or may not have overlooked the tingling/itchy sensation that occasionally occurred during and after application {and whenever it was hot enough to break a sweat ...I mean, glisten}. I never really thought to look further into it because I figured it was not a big deal ...it was one negative to a hundred positives.
Over the past couple of months though, my skin texture just had not been what it once was and I had been breaking out more than my normal PMS pimples. The realization that I'm in my 30's now and not my 20's didn't make it any easier to accept what I saw in the mirror and I thought maybe I could make some changes and help it look better.
I'm not sure how I stumbled upon it, but I found a review {which OF COURSE I cannot find now} from a woman whose skin was breaking out due to Bare Minerals use and that she switched to Jane Iredale and has not had a problem since.
So I googled a bit more . . .
Apparently, the itchy/stingy feeling I would occasionally encounter was due to the ingredient Bismuth {also the main ingredient in Pepto-Bismol} which also tends to clog pores ...in some users who are allergic to it.
But because I love the ease and coverage of mineral/powder makeup, I wanted another, Bismuth-free alternative. So I looked into Jane Iredale mineral foundations {because of the above-mentioned review I can no longer find} ...which I've been using now for about 2 months. I wanted to share the goodness with you but I had to truly test it before I raved about it, right?

Jane Iredale Mineral Foundations are a bit more expensive {$40 vs $18 - but since the powder is finer, it seems like there is actually more makeup per jar} but unfortunately not sold at Sephora. So I took a risk and purchased it online and have been pretty happy with the results
Why I like Jane Iredale:
* Powder is finer
* Brushes are softer
* No itchy/stingy feeling after/during application
* Less under the skin bubbly cheek breakouts
* Husband approves! {Actually says it looks WAY BETTER ...which means he can see my skin through it!}
* I do like the transparency but sometimes I feel like the coverage is not quite as good as Bare Minerals {I have some splotchy discoloration on my forehead from tanning while on birth control in my mid 20's {I'm guessing}}

While I haven't seen a MAJOR skin improvement, I definitely have had less breakouts and the texture is almost back to where I'd like it to be. However, I think it's definitely time to see a dermatologist ...an appointment I have avoided my entire life.
If you are not experiencing itchiness or breakouts due to Bare Minerals, then chances are you are not allergic to bismuth and there is no need to switch. But here is a list of ingredients in Bare Minerals just in case you're interested.
* I haven't made any other makeup changes since this post except for new mascara Kelly @ My So Called Fabulous Life sent me ...which I LOVE. It's Loreal Double Extend Waterproof Lash Fortifier and Extender Mascara, Black - 1 Ea
