While I will be taking care of decorating and furnishing our new home, I thought maybe the husband and I should pick out a bed together, since we will both be sleeping on it. And, while I tend to lean toward a vintage feel, the husband likes mostly new things. However, I'd like to find something that isn't super modern just because I'm bored of that look it's everywhere. So, Tuesday evening we decided to venture down Ventura Blvd on the hunt for a new master bed frame for our new master bedroom.
Just as we were walking out of Dwell in Studio City, the husband spotted a restaurant almost directly across the street ...and since you don't know my husband, I'll just tell you that he is far more interested in food than in furniture. And since most of the shops were beginning to close, we decided to stop for the evening and check out this new restaurant.
Now, I'm not a huge fan of snapping photos in public places {I hate looking like a tourist in my home town} but because of the rain, it was rather quiet this particular evening and because we were the only sat table other than the bar, I decided it was the perfect time to document our new favorite restaurant in Studio City, Bokado.

The drawing on the chalk wall was strangely reminiscent of a sun I painted in the entry way of my very first apartment in Hollywood in the late 90's.

...the best cream of cauliflower soup without any cream ...entirely vegetarian. ~ potato-like fries in a spicy ketchuppy yum sauce. I'm not a huge drinker but I love a good Mojito ...and they made it to perfection!

...tapas ...mmmmm

...tiny burgers

...and mouth watering filet. The veggies were even good ...and the macaroni was for the husband.

...an outdoor seating area complete with fireplace & wall-mounted wide screen

...and chocolate Crème brûlée for dessert. Um, yeah, ridiculous good.

We ate it all ...and we'll be back for more.

I just went to Bokado for the first time a few months ago. Such great food and ambiance!! If you like Bokado, try the owner's other spot up the road called 'Next Door Tapas Lounge' (it's connected to La Loggia's patio). Also a tapas bar with a nice lounge.
Wow, all that food porn makes me so hungry! Looks delicious! xoxo

That chocolate creme brulee looks amazing! Yum!
I have to agree with everyone. All the food porn has made me hungry!
Hey Maegan, have not heard from you in a while!!! How are you doing? How is the house coming along?
Living the good life, eh? You make me wanna jump onto the next freeway that says LA 1 gazillion miles!
is there anything on the menu you guys didn't order?! perhaps my husband and i will head over to sfv some time and check this place out, as we have yet to discover a fave resto in our hood.
Total yummmm...that mac and cheese just melted my heart!!
The atmosphere looks fun in there - trendy but not pretentious. That macaroni and cheese looks amazing. I have a soft spot for comfort food.
xo
this place sounds so good!!
holy crow that food looks amazing
More food reviews from LA please?! :) That looks delicious!

mmmmmmmmmmmm foooooood.
this is not a good time for me to be reading this post as it's before lunch and i'm starving. everything looks delicious.
Is it wrong to feel this jealous? Not only of the cool restaurant, and the fact that you can actually afford to go there, but of the quality time you are getting with hubby.
The whole meal looks amazing!! (except for the meat part -- I mean, it still looks good, but I don't eat meat.)
But that dessert looks SO yummy!! Crème brûlée is one of my favs anyway, but chocolate crème brûlée? Yes please!
that place is great! Have you heard of Indigo? Or been there? It's this amazing furniture store in Studio City (between Colfax and Tujunga). They do a lot of their own woodwork and they also import. But they have some amazing things there and I definitely recommend that you check it out. They have these beautiful romantic Spanish style coffee tables and benches. I want everything in there!
I LOVE BOKADO!!! So yummy! Their salads are huge and so good. So much better than crappy Tommy Ray's that used to be there.
If you like Argentinian, you should also try Malbec on Riverside, right next to Lucy 51. It is where Eight 18 used to be. Uber yummy as well.
Have a great weekend! Hoping for some sun...
From one Valley girl to another, thanks for the new restaurant info, looks great can't wait to check it out!
mm delicious!
we eat there all the time. and i agree w/the previous commenter...try the other place - la loggia/next door. they have mini sliders that are tdf (not on the menu - u have to ask for it).
