Good For Her

2010-01-04-jenniferhawkinsnudeunairbrushedcover1480x610

While she is beautiful, tall, thin, and young, I’m sure she’s got {what she thinks} are her own flaws, as everyone does. So good for her. But what you may be insecure about, someone else may not even notice.

In all honesty, I don’t think I would be able to commit to posing nude without any retouching …a blemish here, a dot of cellulite there, although I’d like to think I would. I’m such a perfectionist that once shown the final photo, all I’d see were the flaws and I’d have to “fix” a few things.

So would you? Would you pose nude without going under the Photoshop knife? {Supposing you’d go nude in the first place, that is}

The picture still looks amazing! the photographer must have used bad ass lighting, and skills.

I agree good for her, I no way have the confidence to pose nude!!! But if i did it would be scary to see the process of how they eliminate all your flaws, it’s crazy how an un air brushed cover makes news lines, surely it should be the other way around!!!

I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to go with the real thing without any touch ups. I’m Pre-tee sure I’d vomit. Like you said, all I’d see are the (many) flaws. But she looks great – it’s refreshing to see actual skin, huh? It looks so real. :)

Hope you’re well, and happily involving your beautiful mind on creative decorating – all my love to you.

i suffer from plaque psoriasis, and have lesions covering my entire body. just started UV treatment, and after seeing the results – good, of course – i’m debating having a nude taken when my skin is completely clear just so i can document the fact that i’ll be psoriasis-free.

would i want to be touched up?
probably, but i think my imperfections make me unique and special.

if only all models wouldn’t be touched up and photoshopped, i think we’d all be a teensy bit happier with ourselves.
that, and we’d really REALLY enjoy eating cheeseburgers.

The chance of me ever posing nude is slim to NONE. However, if I did, I’d want some photoshopping done …nothing huge, not changing my shape, or making me look like someone I am not… I would want things like a blemish or thigh dimple removed, as much as I wish I didn’t feel like that, but that’s the truth ..OR maybe if the lighting and makeup was THAT amazing, it could take the place of the ‘photoshop knife’ ? yes, maybe that would be the way to go! ;)

Hope you are having a great weekend!!

Good on her (even without airbrushing she is still stunning!!)

The thought of me on the cover of that magazine in the buff makes me cringe!! It would take a week of fasting, copious amounts of self tanner, and the most skilled photographer in the world. But she looks AMAZING and Im sure she feels very accomplished for being that hot naturally.

I would pose, airbrushed or not, if there were a nice royalty for my effort.

Besides, I have learned to appreciate my flaws. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts…or something to that effect.

    She looks awesome.

I like the way she did this, some people do this and stand in a way where there are no fat rolls or anything.
I like that she did this in a womans mag to. I hate hate hate when girls pose nude in a blokes mag and say they did it for their self esteem. So you can’t have self esteem unless your naked for a guy?

I totally understand I am a photo retoucher and I am a perfectionist about a picture I see everything !!!
I couldn’t pose naked without retouche neither that sucks lol but it’s so difficult to find a pose where all the body parts look great at the same time lol =)

Oh sure I’d do the nude thing, it’s just a body, BUT, like you, I’d like to think I could do it without airbrushing, but I’m not a big fan of my thighs naked, with dimples that are there… and they’re there… yes I’m tall and thin, but I’m still hella conscious of my parts when I go out on stage in tight leotards and booty shorts!

i would never get naked in an magazine- however much money i got. and i don’t understand why everybody else needs to strip off either.. i don’t buy an magazine to see naked girls..i buy it to see clothes/shoes/accessories.. i seriously wish there would be an change from today- that nude girls stay in men magazines- and that the clothes stay on people in womenmagazines.. but it feels like im the only one who thinks this nowadays.. and i dont consider myself very conservative..

Pose nude in a magazine? That people would see? Oh, God no! I don’t even like to look at myself nude in the mirror before I take a shower…I don’t think I would put it all out there for everyone to scrutinize. If I were to pose in a mag, give me some awesome clothes, good makeup, good lighting, and a skillful photographer. What’s the point of being photographed if you can’t put something out there that you are proud of?

I’m glad The Skinny Girl is okay with her body enough to pose. She is the “ideal” afterall. What’s she got to worry about? No one is going to say anything bad about her.

I think she looks great unairbrushed. We are human and naturally we all have flaws.
    Nobody is perfect!!!

I would do it…given many shots to choose from that is. I would have the final say on which went on the cover for all to see :) -

I hate to rain on her parade but although she may not be photoshopped like we are used to seeing but theres some magic going on there. Great lightening really works well. I did a photo shoot in lingerie and I wasn’t photoshopped but I did have great lightening and the photos turned out really nice. But I think its refreshing not to see a model overly airbrushed.

I could pose TASTEFULLY nude (like her). I do have a thin frame but I’d need about 2-3 weeks notice to hit the gym before a no-photoshop shoot! lol

Gorgeous picture. I’d prefer this over all the airbrushed fake perfection they splash on the covers of everything.

LIGHTING! It does a lot of wonders! I’m sure she actually does look this good naturally but still…there is no way I MYSELF would pose nude without a LOT of photoshop lol. Even if I was super thin, toned and tan, I would still have ugly lumps and bumps that would need to be eradicated NOW.\

As I said though, the right lighting can help, and maybe a filter.

Just look back at all of Katherine Hepburn’s closeups in The Philadelphia Story – no photoshop there but they did have an insane lighting team just for her.

Jennifer Hawkins has received so much criticism here in Australia for the shoot – I think good on her. No matter what shape or size you are, you are always going to be body conscious and insecure in some way. I think good on her, she looks fantastic!

what a beautiful cover! I´d never pose without photoshop. If the pics was B&W maybe. It´s pretty sad actually but nowaday´s everyone is photoshopped to death. people are not used to see flaws anymore. Real beauty is nothing worth because everyone can have it with a computer program. xoxo

    interesting.

this makes me think of the nude models I draw. A lot of them don’t have the “perfect” body, but they feel free to bare themselves live and in the flesh. In that kind of environment nudity is not sexual but natural and biological. And I care less about how their body looks and more about their skill as a model and how they pose. A lot of the models actually seems very non-superficial and more into health and living.

I’m not sure why I’d be requested to be nude, but sure, I’d do it. No airbrush, either. Of course, I’d then burn all of those magazines and assure people it did, in fact, look awesome.

Isn’t it interesting how startling it is to find out someone did a magazine cover without a touchup? That it’s a big deal?

Like most of you i dont really think it is that brave that a supermodel takes her clothes off… people tells her 100 times a day how great she looks, and if she is in doubts she can just look at her contracts (the number on her paychek probably resembles her looks)…. i thought it was more brave when the front singer from the band “gossip” (whom i have major respect for as a singer), Beth Ditto, posed naked… she had to face that comments like “disgusting!!!!”. I cannot believe anyone even dare say that about jenni’s pictures… (btw…if i ever feel the weight issue closing in on me,i just watch tyra banks “Kiss my fat ass” clip on youtube, it alwaysmakes me laught)

What does this girl has to do with reality anyway?

Editors thinks that if they sending a SUPERMODEL on a cover without airbrushed they’re sending the right message and average women will feel better about themselves?

    It’s ridiculous…

By the way I think it’s not an achievement to look gorgeous without airbrushing when you are young and beautiful…repeat this 20 years later…then maybe I will buy it.
