Jade is the New Black

OPI Jade is the new Black nail polish fruit bowl

OPI Jade is the new Black nail polish

Remember when that Chanel chalky minty colored polish was all the rage? I have to admit, I hated it. I mean, I thought it looked adorable on 20 something hipsters and the like ...but it wasn't for me. The other day I just happened upon a post on Gwen's blog, Confessions of a Control Freak, wherein her nails were painted a much darker version of this minty trend and almost died for it. I commented my love for it and the lovely Gwen sent me the lacquer! Thanks Lady!

The arrival of my new Opi Hong Kong Collection Jade Is the New Black quickly prompted the removal of my chipping Parlez-Vous OPI?, a quick file, two coats of jade plus a top coat of Chanel's Extreme Shine and voila! Green with envy nails ...and when I showed it to drollgirl this morning at the gallery she reminded me it was just in time for St. Patrick's Day ...and really, I hadn't even thought about that. I also must confess that I have purchased at least three dark foresty green items from thrift stores lately ...so maybe jade IS the new black indeed.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Chanel either, but then I liked Essie's version that they came out with in their winter collection.
Liking this new OPI as well. Need to check out the Hong Kong collection!

It IS the new black! I have a dark green Barry M shade, and it's amazing. Still dark and tough, but not as harsh as black.

Still love black nails though!
