Thanks to a tweet from Amanda @ Static Image and an old email from a reader last January I somehow missed but happened upon the same day {both wondering if I knew I was featured in two different issues of the fabulous Australian magazine, CLEO -both of which I did not know} I emailed my contact & she sent me virtual tears …and now I share them with you. {I would love to have the entire magazine issues …so if anyone knows how I can get them, I will love you forever!}

    I remember seeing that now. Well done!

    I may still have my copy of the March 2010 issue hanging around.

    Otherwise maybe contact Cleo Australia, they may be able to send you a copy.

    Long-time reader, first-time commenter! :)

    Two questions:

    While flattering, isn’t it a little weird that the editors put you in two issues of their magazine without contacting you? I would think they’d need permission before using your pictures. Hmm…

    Also, since you have awesome DIYs and are endlessly creative, I’m wondering if you have a fashion solution to the following dilemma. I have recently lost a little weight, and my work slacks are too loose around the waist. HOWEVER, they also happen not to have belt loops. (Ugh, annoying.) Any suggestions for how to make them fit without expensive tailoring (since I’ll inevitably gain the weight back at some point) or the old cinch the front with a safety pin trick (which is what I have been doing but am not loving)?

    Thanks!!!

    I can’t believe that I didn’t recognise you in the Feb issue. If you have no luck with Cleo themselves I’d be happy to post you my copy (if you’ll excuse a few folded pages).

    You’d think they could have given you a quick email!

    Another one who thought it was odd you weren’t contacted — but maybe it’s the norm that once you put something out there, it’s out there. Would have been a nice courtesy though.

    Congratulations and keep those DIYs coming. They’re one of my favorite features of your blog.

    That’s the only thing I would be worried about.

    Thanks for all your concern ladies …I love it! …I do have a contact at the magazine and allowed her to use my content last Fall 2009 …but never really heard back from her. So I gave her permission …but I think she just forgot to tell me she finally used my stuff in a feature.

    ALSO …ANON: If there are no belt loops, you could probably stitch small darts up the back …two actually ….right about where your pelvic bones poke out …here’s what looks like an easy tutorial:

    Very cool! By the way, a couple of weeks ago I was at Michael’s craft store browsing through some DIY books and as I flipped through I was like, “Wait a minute! I know that necklace!” and I turned back and found your necklace, the Tom Binns one, I think? The one with lots of multiple strands and vintage rhinestone costume jewelry mixed into it. It was funny how I’d just seen your post on that necklace not too long ago and then there it is in a beading book in Michael’s. :-)

    CLEO was the first Australian women’s magazine to feature non-frontal nude male centrefolds in 1972, with Jack Thompson as the magazines first Playmate of the Month. Other playmates were Alby Mangels, Eric Oldfield, Peter Blasina and the band Skyhooks. The centrefold feature was discontinued in 1985, the last being a bare-chested picture of Mel Gibson. The centrefold feature was reinstated in 2005 as a permanent feature of the magazine and has featured such celebrities as Daniel MacPherson, Jake Wall, Michael Sullivan, Shane Watson, Jamie Brooksby, Michael Witt and Koby Abberton.
