Project: Laundry Room ~ Complete ...for now

laundry room+white+aqua -2, chic laundry rooms, laundry room make over, home decor, laundry room decor ideas, mud room, washer and dryer

. . .when we moved in, it looked like this . . .

Ugly Burgundy Laundry Room -before

. . .and with a little help from my brother . . .

brother+security coveralls+hooking up washer dryer  brother+coveralls

. . . it became this . . .

laundry room before

. . . and with a little white paint & elbow grease
...and cute aqua polka dotted contact paper I made it look like this . . .

laundry room -after

. . . and now it looks like this . . .

laundry room+white+aqua -4-2  laundry room+canvas grocery bags-3

laundry room+white+aqua -5

kitchen+laundry room+guest bath+doorway  laundry room aqua

laundry room+white+aqua -3-1

While it's not the glamourous extreme of the laundry rooms in my inspiration post it is far superior to our old laundry room in our condo I used for the 5-1/2 years prior.

I love the white ...I love the light. I love that it's off the kitchen and leads to a small guest bathroom with hilarious fern wallpaper and out to the backyard. I hung two Tiffany blue small canvases that I painted for our old master bedroom {dog bowls below} and pillow cases {also from our old master} for the curtains to hide the ugly power cords and any mess that might accumulate on that handy little shelf. I found the white tension-rod at Bed Bath & Beyond by Umbra for $14.99 as well as the Umbra Rosetta drapery clips for $7.99 {bought 2 packs} which easily clip on to the fabric holding it in place. The tall cupboard hides our water heater, and above it I hung an inexpensive wall mounted coat rack to hang our eco grocery bags on. Shown is my beSmartbeGreen logo bag but you can find other cute eco canvas bags here. I've also hung random hooks on the sides to hold mesh lingerie wash bag and the striped fruit and veggie plastic bag dispenser, which I found at the market for $3.99 {DIY your own with Dioramarama}.

One thing I would love to add is a top to place over both the washer and dryer that extends to the wall {like in this inspiration photo} ...not only to give me a level surface but to protect the tops of my machines and also extend to the wall & give me a few extra inches of counter space. But for now, I love it.

This laundry room looks great. I really like it. Mine is in the basement and looks far worse than what is shown in your 'before' pics.

Maegan,

Might be obsessive but I read your blog every morning when I clock in to work at 9. I'm one of those creepers who don't comment, ever. Just thought I would let you know you have a fan in New Jersey :P

Have a lovely day,

SUPER cute. And the curtains are a great idea! will have to keep that one in mind.

Looks amazing! You can maybe have plexi glass cut to order from homedepot or online (they have all sorts of thickness options) to use on top of the washer/dryer.

I love the whole look and could imagine looking FORWARD to doing laundry! Right now, we send ours out in NYC ;)

wow, it´s great, oh y god how it changed from dark red to pure white. Congrats to you and your brother. Why don´t you make a post of pictures of your house? I mean, all pictures together, I follow you since you bought the house and If you make an all togheter pictures, that will be great. (sorry for my bad english).
Creo que queremos un super reportaje de decoracion de tu casa ya que veo los grandes cambios que estas haciendo y me parecen increibles y dignos de ser publicados en revistas.
Thank you so much.

la reina cotilla ....I think once I finish all the rooms in the house, I will do a page/post or slideshow of the entire house completed ...but I'm too much of a perfectionist to do it now ...hopefully soon though :)

I love seeing all the before pictures to help me understand how the process evolved. My laundry room in my rental apartment is a fright--pretty sure it hasn't been cleaned/dusted EVER. In my defense I don't know how I'm supposed to move a washing machine to clean behind it, but still, it's gross. Hopefully these pictures will inspire me to get my act together and do a little tidying up in that area of my apartment.

I love the way it looks now! You're SUPER stylish all the way possible! As I said in previous comments, I'm totally in love with your home; tomorrow afternoon I'll share these new updates with my boyfriend, just to repeat again "I still want one of this, keep in mind baby..."

Regards from Spain!

I am so jealous. My laundry room is outside & it has scary spiders in it. Not very inspiring, so the tedious task of doing laundry is even more unpleasant. Nice job!

Just found you and glad I did! What a beautiful makeover ... with a laundry room like that I'd be sending my kids out in stocking feet and telling them to play in the mud!

Gah... I'm SO jealous of your pretty laundry room! The laundry is one of the rooms in our house that I'm totally stuck on. I think it's because there's no natural light, so when I painted everything white, it still didn't feel quite like I'd hoped.

You did such a wonderful job! Love it!

I love the colors. The turquoise in the curtains is a nice touch. Very nice :D

So when are you and the construction crew (your hubs & bro) coming to my house to do a laundry room make over for me? Love it Maegan!!! Gorgeous!!! XOXO

JairMadison said...

This room makes me want to do laundry. Imagine that. As a matter of fact, I think I'd make my peach mint raspberry coolers and a magazine and kick my heels up while my clothes were drying in the crispness that is that laundryroom.

Kristin said...

It looks SO fresh and clean! Loooooove the blue!

possibility for top of machines:
a hollow door is very inexpensive and can be painted or covered in contact paper. A 1X2 along the walls to prop it on. Easy peasy...
