What I'm Wearing
* Eryn Brinie silk sleeveless shirt dress from Gilt. I've had this for a couple months now actually, hanging on the back of my closet door in its plastic bag. It claims to be black but it came with a black ribbon tie belt and against that, it looks navy. So I'm going with navy. And I swapped the belt it came with for this brown studded skinny belt which I found at a thrift shop ages ago. {seen here on my wrist}
* Vintage silk scarf knotted around neck
* Burberry Trench coat ...never did I think I'd need a coat in July but it was FREEZING all day until about 3:30 ...then chilly again at dusk.
* Via Spiga lace up wedges ...and I would have almost preferred a flat lace up oxford {which I don't have in a brown leather but is now on the "need to buy" list} or even a sandal may have worked but the weather prevented open toes and bare legs. I chose legs.
* Tom Ford Anouk - cat eye sunglasses
* Louis Vuitton medium {30} Speedy
* Leather backpack ...mine from the 90's
I bought this leather backpack in or around 1995 for $75. I remember the price because at the time I was 18 and thought $75 for a bag was outrageous {my mom still thinks $75 for a bag is outrageous}. It was one of the first things I splurged on really that wasn't necessary and I also remember how good it felt to buy such an item and carry it proudly. I actually had quite a bit of a bank account at the time because 6months prior I had done a Burger King commercial {@ 2:40} and residuals were pouring in ...every Saturday to be exact. I would so look forward to Saturdays because my mail box would be full of envelopes with checks in each of them. It was a fun time to say the least.
I'm not sure if it's the 90's vibe in the air or what but this backpack has been popping in and out of my mind for a while now so I was giddy when I randomly found it the other day while unpacking the guest bedroom. Admittedly, I can't decide which bag I like better with the outfit ...they both give off a different quality: Louis Vuitton being expensive and a bit snooty & the backpack, well I'm just not sure. What I am sure about is that many of you will turn your nose up at it. But just wait. In a couple of years, you'll probably want one too ;)

While I'm partial to the LV I do love your backpack with this outfit. I think it's funny that your first splurge was this bag. My first splurge was a drawstring brown leather bag. It wasn't technically a backpack but I sure wore it that way more than once. :) XOXO

Not turning my nose up at all. I really like that backpack. I always prefer things without logos splashed all over them.
I really like the backpack with that outfit. It looks more laid back were as the speedy, though classic, looks a little stuffier.

I just picked up a white leather cross-body bag for every day throwing around in my Wrangler (it's cute - got it at Marshall's - I think it's B. Makowsky and I got it super cheap, about $69.
My girlfriend nearly had a heart attack. I kept to myself what some of my other bags have cost. Good grief!

I love the outfit except for the shoes - just not very flattering to your legs or the lovely outfit as they seem to dominate the look.
Maybe with a longer skirt or slacks the shoes would be cuter.
I love both the backpack and the bag. The backpack give it a much more casual look and the bag classes it up.
LOVE the shoes! The dress is cute too! I also like the backpack because it has a sort of timeless quality to it. I'd say it was well worth the $75!

I have to say, I ADORE the backpack with that look. It is so classy and refined. Almost unexpected, where the LV bag is kind of....expected? Is that wrong to say? I think the backpack just brings a lot to the entire outfit. Love the look!

I LOVE the backpack. I love the LV too, but I am totally digging the backpack. I actually have an old backpack too {probably from around the time you got yours as well!} that I love. It's a black Armani and wore it to death for a few years straight. I love that things always make their way back around full circle.
They are both beautiful, but I love the backpack with the outfit most.
I think the first thing I ever splurged on was a pair of Steve Madden's. I was 18 and moved to a big city.. You can't buy anything nice in the small city where I'm from.. so I thought it was just sooo cool haha =)

Though the speedy is classic, the backpack looks best, in my opinion. It just works! (with the trench especially, which I ADORE). Hopefully this will be the year *I* get a Burberry trench. :) Great pics!
