It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas

At the christmas tree lot 2010+cold
This is what happens when my husband takes my photos ...lol

Wearing thrifted chunky knit sweater, {yes the one in my last outfit post} over Trovata plaid shirt/tunic dress with leggings, thigh high black socks from American Apparel, Jeffrey Campbell over the knee boots {that don't actually stay over the knee - got these in 2008 :/} and a black pashmina scarf & gloves. IT WAS INSANELY COLD

Last weekend, we went out in the freezing cold & met my brother and sister in law and niece at Ray's Christmas tree lot in Sherman Oaks to spend a fortune on a couple of Nobles we could get in Oregon for $10 ...but who wants to drive 2 days to get a Christmas tree? Not us.

Delilah was just a few months old last Christmas when we got our trees and now she's all grown up! ...well, almost ;)

I was sooooo excited to get an early start on Christmas decorating this year and though we did put our lights up before Thanksgiving, the tree has been sitting in our living room for a week with only the lights on. {We placed it where Jesus & the palm & encyclopedias were residing} I just haven't had a free moment to decorate it. I think I also had a bit of a Thanksgiving hangover and sort of allowed myself to relax and take it easy last week. But I finally finished it yesterday, using my vintage ornaments mixed with a few new ones that seem to have a vintage vibe. There's something really different about the way the lights reflect off of the vintage ornaments and we're loving it.

we used these LED lights in warm white - they're a bit bigger than the regular small lights that aren't LED, and the star topper is a recent find from OSH {Kurt Adler 10-Light Multi-Color Capiz Star Treetop}surprisingly, because it had a vintage feel {it's pretty in white too}. I can never find a good topper but this year I lucked out

And in case you don't follow me on twitter {though I'm not sure why? :} here's our house in all it's Christmas light glory. It's the brightest house in the neighborhood, lol, and sort of slaps you in the face as you drive by ...but it makes us smile every night when we turn them on.

I hope you're having as much fun this holiday season as we are ...which I'm so grateful for because I was miserably depressed last year at this time. What a difference a little or big change makes :)

Even overly tacky, ridiculous, Santa-lives-here, Christmas obesser lights and decorations can't help but make anyone smile. Your lights, I assure you, are on the classier spectrum. :D

Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I live in Oregon and I just paid $45 for a noble. Haha. It was a charity lot so I know the money is going to something good, but seriously, I really got ripped off! Love your tree btw!
