Sexy One Piece Bathing Suits

. . .but I haven't found one that is flattering on me ...though I haven't tried in ages. But usually they are too short and ride up in the crotch then simultaneously flatten my chest. Neither of which are appealing. I think they look best on women with large chests and small waists because those both seem to be where the eye is drawn. Also, I don't actually want too much coverage on the butt because like a bikini, the more fabric that covers the butt, the bigger it looks {and by bigger I mean wider}. I like a big butt but not in width :)

In my quest to find a one piece that works for my body type I've also noticed that a few companies are now making them in a "long torso" variety and that will hopefully solve my riding up/flatting & pulling issue. I never really considered myself long-torso'd but I can't seem to put on a bathing suit or leotard that doesn't feel like it's about to cut me in half!

There are a TON of super cute one-piece bathing suits but the suits shown below I think fit the bill as far as my needs are concerned: long enough, boobacious {doesn't flatten or pull down the chest}, no squeezing {extra skin out the sides}, great ass! ...with links below.

What I'm Wearing
* sheer/silk Walter floral dress ... from Gilt ...last seen here in winter, belted with leggings & boots
* My favorite over sized cardigan from Victoria's Secret ...man I wish they would reissue this. I should have gotten it in all colors when it was still available.
* Fiorentini + Baker chunky Tessa sandals ...last seen here
* Salvatore Ferragamo bag
* TOM FORD Anouk cat eye sunglasses

This outfit is so reminding me of the 90's ...and funnily enough, more and more of my outfits tend to be leaning that way. Maybe it's just the chunky heeled sandals and the bity floral prints. I dunno. Regardless, everything is cyclical and returns whether we like it or not.

It was surprisingly rainy and cold this morning but finally by around 3:30 on my way home from the gallery when I shot these, the sun was shining. I've been rather lax in the outfit department lately. It's probably my mood ...I tend to find comfort more appealing than being 100% pulled together at the moment ...but it will change, as my mood surely will.

Refashion Old Bikini Bottoms DIY

adding ties to bikini bottoms

I love my old tie bottoms {see below} ...have had & worn them every summer since 2003 and it's time to retire them. I bought a new pair sans ties at Victoria's Secret {on sale for $11 now!} ....which reminded me of a bikini I had in the 80's. The front and back are moveable.

As a rule, I buy bikini bottoms a size smaller because less material on the behind actually is more flattering {makes MY butt look smaller anyway}. However, that's in string bikinis that I can resize by tying them differently ... and considering this one is not a string and I bought a small instead of a medium, the sides "squeeze" me a bit more than I'd like them to. My solution: add ties = now it's adjustable!

I wanted it to be a bit unique so I did it to one side only. I love the turnout. Though I would have liked one solid & larger tie than two per each side = 4. But it was EA-Sy! If you don't have an old bathing suit you want to cut up for the material, you can easily grab a yard of bathing suit fabric at your local fabric store {which would make a BIG bow or tie on the side that will make a bigger statement}. You could also just remove the entire thing and add a new piece of different color or printed fabric and you have a whole new pair of bottoms!

Star Trek : Tik Tok

The husband played this short video for me and I just had to share ...it's kind of ridiculous how perfectly it's been edited to match this song ...the phones?!?!? hilarity. Check the awesome styles, the one shoulder dresses on the birds as well and the caftan at 0:15 -amazing! Kind of wish it was the actual video for the song. Too good to be true.

What I'm Wearing
* Paige Premium Denim "Debonair" 11" Jeans in Rebel Without A Cause ...my absolute favorite jeans right now. They are so so so SO surprisingly comfy because they have ample room for the butt/thigh/waist section instead of being tight all the way up and creating a muffin top. {and especially great for the pms situation because I don't want anything tight during that time}
* Husband's white DKNY v-neck t-shirt
* Guess striped cardigan ...it actually has little anchors on the buttons. I've had this forEVER.
* Sam Edelman peep toe granny boots
* Tom Ford Sunglasses - Anouk / Cat Eye ...these have become my favorites ..if you can't tell ;)
* Tiffany lock pendant necklace & white gold hoops & D&G mirror watch

My stylist has a chair at a salon directly above our favorite sushi restaurant, Yen. We ate there last Friday actually and when I called the husband to let him know my hair was done, he asked me to just bring it home to him this time ...so while I waited for it to be prepared, I set up my camera in the driveway parallel and snapped away. I was actually really lucky - not one person walked by while I was doing it. I love that.

I used to wait about 4 months between salon visits but I cannot seem to handle my roots lately at all. I think I've been three times this year already ...and that blows my mind. I like to blame our shower & water pressure because it's so bad I don't think it rinses the shampoo/conditioner out properly, thus leaving my hair lackluster and heavy ...making my roots stand out more to me. But it also could be that I may or may not be getting a few more random gray hairs popping up than I'd like to see ...and so I run to Nikki and tell her to make me pretty again ;) lol ...and she always does. I leave the salon feeling like I'm in a hair commercial ...all slow motion and shit. She's amazing! {her number's on my sidebar ...go see her and tell her I sent you :) }

I can't stop thinking about getting a little pig ...though my french bulldog is very similar to a little pot belly ...but the tiny baby goat is now in the running as well. I cannot handle the cuteness.

Hem Gems are JEANIUS!

Like the many amazing things I find via the internet, I'm not sure how I happened upon Hem Gems. Maybe I received an email. Maybe I searched for something and they popped up on my radar. Regardless, the point is, I found them ...and they are literally JEANIUS!

I got so excited about them I tweeted and stumbled and tweeted again and because of my enthusiasm, the lovely ladies of Hem Gems sent me a pair of my choice! {I chose the simple & classic gold/brass rivet but the studs are equally as cute and for $19.99 for 8 -in a pack, it's worth it to buy both styles}

Here's how . . . look. how. simple.

Picture 5, hem gems, jeans, customizing jeans, denim, temporary tailoring, hem your jeans, wear your jeans with heels or flats

Picture 6

Picture 7

Why didn't I come up with this?

While I love ridiculously long jeans and buy ridiculously high shoes just to wear with them {because let's be honest, they make my legs look longer, and I like that} I have friends who have to take every single pair of jeans they buy to the tailor to have them shortened. When buying ridiculously priced jeans in the first place, the last thing you want to do is spend another $10-$20 on tailoring them and have to wait to wear them, right? {I do stand by the fact that higher priced "designer" jeans do fit better and last longer and if you buy a classic style, you will wear them for years, thus worth every penny} I digress. The point here is if I typically buy a pair of jeans to wear with heels, I can't wear them with flats without dragging them on the ground, ruing their nice hem. Or, I tuck them under or cuff them up. Sometimes I like the cuffed look, but sometimes I just want them shorter. And today, when fashion is all about showing off your shoes & cropped/ankle jeans are all the rage, Hem Gems make it so that you don't have to buy a new pair to get that look. . . . I even think these would work at keeping "pegged" jeans in place.

This 30 second video makes it look even easier!

Silk Scarf Safety Pin Tank Top DIY

Vena Cava silk safety pin tank top DIY

This fun and easy scarf DIY top would be adorable over a pair of shorts in the Summer! You can also wear it as a halter, if you instead turn the scarf from square in front of your body to diamond shape with corner at your neck and working out with safety pins from there.

* Notes *
* EASILY do this exact DIY with an old T-shirt ...which I am going to do as well.
* If you're a pro ...you can easily create the exact pattern of the Vena Cava top in any silk fabric. OR remove the straps of a camisole you already have and replace them with safety pins.
* If using a silk scarf, know that pins will leave minor holes so use a scarf you're probably not going to use again otherwise.
* The folds in the front give boobies an extra layer so they are not at all exposed if going bra-less ...also they will not fall out of this top UNLESS a safety pin comes undone ...but what are the odds of that? If you're worried about that, use a needle and thread to stitch pins to fabric at bases.
