What I'm Wearing
* Vintage large plaid print day dress. Tag says J.M. II New York {have had it forever and almost sold it on ebay twice in the past}...worn once before in the winter with boots here. Yet another dress that if the right gust of wind blows, induces the Marylin affect. Learned it the hard way.

* Wide leather wrap obi belt with raw edges - I made it! ...DIY HERE
* Boutique 9 lace-up pump
* Vintage black plastic necklace doubled with a ribbon to shorten into a collar bone piece learn how here
* Louis Vuitton Medium speedy
* Tom Ford 'anouk' cat eye sunglasses ...seem to be sold out everywhere now.


These are hanging from my mantel in front of my fireplace. It's the same stone in the pillars from my location.

Thoughts on Project Runway last night? I think the most exciting part for me is that it's finally in HD. If there's one show I'd really like to see the details on, it's Project Runway and it made a huge difference. When Gretchen's dress came down the runway I wanted it. Like to wear today. The shape of it was fantastic. There are so many contestants now it's hard to know who is good but I think I can already pick out the bad ones ...and I'm not so sure the right person went home last night.

I'm just happy to have one show on TV again ...I've been having withdrawals since everything ended, including basketball. And that's how I know that I probably watch too much of it.

Tom Ford: Everything he Touches Turns to Gold

The husband brought Tom Ford's film debut A Single Man DVD home for me months ago and I have yet to watch it. I vow to make time this weekend to do so.

If you're unaware, I'm in love with everything this man creates {since 1995 really} so I'm fairly sure the movie will be delicious. And I'm already positive I'll have to watch it several times because how could I ever concentrate on the plot or theme when the movie looks so goddamn gorgeous?

The photos shown here are screen captures of photos looping on his web site background for the time being. And I die for them. And that's all.

Glam Feather Adornments DIY

I gladly accepted New York Design Shop's Create Couture DIY Blogger Challenge who then sent me & 9 other DIYers a box of goodies to get creative with and this is one of mine.




* about 20" of feather fringe {depending on ankle size}
* satin ribbon
* needle & thread




* wearing the shoes you want to accessorize, use the feather fringe to measure your ankles


* snip accordingly


* make sure the feathers curve down not out and up


* cut 4 ribbons about 20" long each & singe the ends to prevent fraying


* fold ribbons over ends of feather fringe & hand-stitch securing ribbon & feathers in place


* wrap ribbons around ankles and tie in back snipping off extra length if necessary



And since the white feathers may look like little feather dusters around your ankles and would best be worn on Halloween with a French Maid costume, I recommend using the black feather fringe and wearing them over your favorite black booties or sandals with tights for Fall.





* layer rhinestone necklaces around the top & wear one or both around your neck




* if they're a little too over the top glam for you, they would be perfect as part of your Lady GaGa Halloween costume

* also may be worn around your head, waist or upper arms, tied onto your bag, wrapped around a wide-brimmed hat, or around your pet ;)

Dear Mary,

It's common knowledge that you got pregnant sans penis and/or sperm. I was just wondering if you had any tips for me in the pregnancy department, most specifically: the getting knocked up bit. Being that I have a perfectly good penis and sperm at my disposal & have been using it/them as such, do you think maybe I should try getting pregnant without the two and see if it happens any faster, like it did for you?

Thoughts? ...oh and, thank you in advance.

* The husband brought this amazing Virgin Mary night light home for me today. It's surprisingly hard to find online but there is one here and three here. It seems as though there is a "who can bring home the funnier item" theme in our home lately ...and he just beat my golden tree stumps.

Antique Mall -ing in Sherman Oaks

Had the prices been right, I may have left with every one of these chairs ...above and below because they were all so incredibly fabulous. The mirror-backed dining set of chairs had a matching mirrored console. It was utterly ridiculous! ...in a good way.




There are a few vintage clothes racks but quite a lot of jewelry booths, estate and otherwise overflowing with treasures, but since my original purpose wasn't exactly for jewelry, I didn't snap many photos of it ...I did, however leave with a few extraordinary gems though.







I have to admit that I secretly died when I was handed this vintage Castlecliff lobster pendant necklace. This was my biggest splurge of the trip. Though I don't think it was overpriced for a unique Castlecliff I almost turned it down. I'm pretty sure the saleswoman knew if she handed it to me I wouldn't be able to give it back ...and she was right. I won't tell you the price but I will tell you that it was 15% off ;)




I'm dying for all that is gilded, bijoux, 90's Versace gaudy gold and bejeweled lately and these two pieces fall exactly into that category. The ring, which was first thought to be D&G but at closer inspection just has the letters DG inscribed {?} was still a deal at $35. This was from the same woman who sold me the Castlecliff lobster. When I went up to the front to pay I found the bracelet at the counter that was such a perfect match I couldn't pass it up. It was $45 and also 15% off ...maybe a bit higher than I wanted but the perfect match absolutely sold me on it.




And the biggest steal of the day, at $25 each, my beloved golden tree stumps {you can see them in the shots above the zebra chair}. As I walked passed them the first time, they literally whispered "psst" to me ...and I did a double take. When I saw the price I folded my arms and stood there for a good 5 minutes contemplating their amazement. And when push came to shove, it was really all about the price. Well, and the fact that they make me giggle and are fabulous. {tweeted from the back of my car}

For now they are sitting in what we refer to as our game room and they may just get a little sheepskin on top of each and remain there as seats ...but they could also have a home by the fireplace, in my office with a piece of glass over them as a desk, or as side or coffee tables around the couch. I'm not sure where they will end up but they have already proven themselves as a conversation piece and that seals the deal for me ...not to mention great props for DIYs, dogs posing, & jewelry in outfit posts. And it must be mentioned that my husband now thinks I am insane.

They're having a storewide 10% - 50% off sale through August 15th. I stop in there every so often on my way home from the gallery just to see what new trinkets I can spy ...or if nothing else, for a little inspiration.
