...was a new computer. In fact, both the husband and I desperately needed new computers and agreed earlier in the year that we'd hold out until Christmas and splurge then ...and that's exactly what we did {he got this one & I got this one}. Yes, they're big ticket items, but what else are two people in their 30's with no children going to spend their money on?
To make things even more fun, neither of us stuck to the one gift rule and the husband surprised me with a Nikon D5000 Digital SLR Camera
So obviously, below {and above} are a few photos I've taken since Christmas ...mostly of gifts & things but some just because. What's even more amazing about these photos is that I don't have Photoshop on the new computer yet which means that the photos were so awesome, I DIDN'T EVEN NEED PHOTOSHOP. *huge sigh* I know it seems lame but it's so exciting really. you have no. i.dea.

When the rest of the family joined us on Christmas day the amount of white porcelain figurines and vases my mom & sister in law bestowed upon me were fit for a queen! {the French bulldog bank was a gift from Timmy & Becky & the kissing pugs, a gift from my cousin which you may have seen if you follow me on Twitter in my Twitpics}. And do you know what all these fun little trinkets mean?!? I can finally decorate our Ikea Expedit shelves/room divider & finish the living room. So exciting really.

Natalia

Isn't the camera AMAZING!!!! I don't even own photoshop yet so I totally know what you mean!!! I'm still learning the camera but I think a class is in my future!!! Love all of the white pieces you received especially the owl. Totally loving owls lately. So happy you had a wonderful Christmas and so glad to have you back!! XOXO

When you locate that town that doesn't require an income to live comfortably... mind letting me know. ;-)
Glad you two enjoyed the holidays, and WOW to the camera and picture quality! There are a few people who love you lots!

what a difference the camera makes with the photos, totally worth it!
Totally jelly of your new camera! Cant wait for more photos!
xx
So jealous of your new camera and your gifts! I immediately recognized the Modcloth book ends and UO Terrier bank, they have both been on my wish list for a while now (I have a Boston Terrier and think all the squished-nose breeds are the absolute cutest!). You will love the Mac and wonder how you ever lived without it; they are SOOO beyond worth the extra money.
What realistic photos.......wow! It is as though I'm right there. I need a new camera......I now found one!! Can't wait to see more photos! HAPPY, HEALTHY, AND SAFE NEW YEAR TO YOU, YOUR HUBBY, YOUR FAMILY, AND ALL OF YOUR WONDERFUL FRIENDS HERE ON THESE POSTS! AND ALL PETS, TOO!
Happy new year! Now I'm totally wanting a new computer too, I've been a devout user for PC's but really want a Mac now for some time...so crossing my fingers!
Upgrading the camera really makes a difference. I see it from when I use my Canon rebel to when my bf uses his Canon 7D!
I'm drooling over all your ceramics!!
ps. As in regards to Vegas (from my blog), it's not all together that awful. And there are some pockets that are really good. But it's so far from other cities that I don't think it's worth it if you don't have to. Houses are really cheap though. My good friends just purchased a home in Downtown Henderson for $50,000 cash!
So excited for you and your new camera! What made you decide on a Nikon? I'm torn between the Canon and Nikon...such a tough decision!

Wow, what an amazing camera! And those bookends are adorable :)
Merry (late) Christmas!
Congrats on your new DSLR! It is like a whole new world. Enjoy!
Happy 2011!
I love the bookends & gun vase, very nice.
My S.O. surprised me with a Nikon D3000 for xmas - but I dont have that fancy lense. I need a tutorial on this beast! live in NYC and took lots of randoms of all the stores on Madison and the Rockefeller center tree...but shit, I really need to learn ISO settings and the like. Any links on that?
Lovely! I have the same gun vase, I nearly died when I saw it, the ultimate vase...for all occasions?
