This Maeg-it Yourself DIY Tutorial is all FOR YOU! ...you tell me what you want me to Maeg-it myself next. And if I choose yours, I'll send it to you! It will be yours to keep.
Comment on this post or Tweet me a link of a product you'd like me to make and I'll choose the one I think I can DIY the best, post it here as usual, credit you for your idea & link to your blog or shop in the post, and then it's all yours!
So get creative, start "window" shopping and sending me those links {as many as you like}. Posting could be next week or the week after, depending on the difficulty of the DIY chosen.
{if you can't comment here & don't have a Twitter account, you may email me}
And who knows ...maybe we can make this a regular thing, if you're up for it ;)

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 236 Newer› Newest»Hi Maegan!
I'm not too sure if I could ask for a planting DIY, but I am absolutely in love with what this couple did:
http://www.re-nest.com/re-nest/green-tours/green-tour-matthew-and-emmas-eco-environment-084775
I know they have a DIY already on their blog, but I wonder if you could possibly do a mini version of it? Possibly for the kitchen or bathroom?
Thanks!!
Wida

P.S. If the DIY project involves fashion only- then I will be glad to post something else :)
WOOOO!! This is the best idea ive ever heard!!!

Hi Maegan. Here's a challenge.. This necklace is to die for...so if you have any ideas how to make something similar I'd love to know!

Or http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/109851
(I've got a couple of broken crystal bracelets that I'd love to make something with so would love some ideas) Good luck!
i love experimenting with hairdo's except where i live many tools are not available(i am not talking about straighteners or curling irons!)
i saw a tutorial on how to make the topsy tail maker:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV28LSnqhZU
similar to this are the goody tools like spin pins, etc such as here http://www.google.com/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=543&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=goody+simple+styles&aq=2&aqi=g4&aql=&oq=goody+simple+s
it would be great if you could do diys of such hair tools!
thanks
xx

I don't blog myself but I've been following you for about a year now, love your site and finally made my first comment =]
Hey, Maeg...since spotting this post of yours earlier today, I posted on my blog all about it and a suggestion...or 3. Haa haa!

What a super idea! You should do this often! I think it would be super if you made a bauble type necklace that contained gems and buttons and do-dads. Something similar to this: https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=54b8398fa7&view=att&th=12dc7f62d34e0ec7&attid=0.1&disp=inline&zw
Love it.

Hey Girlie! Love your blog :) I would love to see a DIY for this awesome tassel garland, but $130 seems a bit steep for garland, right? I think you could rock it as a DIY.

YAAAAAAAY!! This is a fantastic idea, thank you!
I tweeted this to you yesterday... would LOVE to see you make ANY one of these fabulous knotted necklaces (preferably a BRIGHT, BOLD color)!
http://irmdesign.fr/colliers_ito_101.htm
...And there is a chance that you will make it AND send it to me?? TOO COOL!! :)
well, this one is a little crazy and i thought i would try it myself but since you are great at diy ill give you a shot first! i saw this on one kings lane, http://www.onekingslane.com/Product.aspx?l=00011039071700000000&p=BVD01400, hopefully youll see it before the sale ends!
my name is Sarah, email: thebuffalobaby@gmail.com, blog: thebuffalobaby.com, getting it up and running, all things about my baby, with a little mama style and home decor mixed in!
Such a great idea. I love the idea of "custom" lampshades/hanging lamps. ala http://scrink.com/blog/design/2007/09/use-your-noodle.html
I think that changing out lampshades would be such a great and somewhat inexpensive way to change up a room - and for those who are a bit more tame but want to express their wild side, a lampshade is a great way to do this.
I love the idea of both hanging and side-table lamps. Bases can be found so inexpensively via home goods, thrift stores, etc.
This would also make a great gift.
Thanks!

It's like you were reading my mind... I was going to email you a few days ago and ask if you could DIY this:
http://www.harputsown.com/nyblsw.html
It's called the Swacket! I love, love, love this piece but could not afford the hefty price tag. It seems like the snap placement is the most important feature. The company started in Oakland, Ca and has since expanded. It's one of those classic sustainable pieces because of the versatility of styles you can create with just a few snaps.
I would look to order a DIY of your father n law who buys designer bags.
No?
Think about it...
here is another cute but simple (looking) DIY I would LOVE to see/have!

Could be done very inexpensively with a goodwill sweater, I just can't figure out a pattern???
Love this basic, simple shirt that would go with anything:

Not that you're taking votes, but I love that crystal wrap leather bracelet someone linked to above! And the Valentino bag seems like a fun DIY.
I was JUST thinking of asking you to do a DIY of this amazing tassle wall deco by Confetti System..

What a fantastic idea! I'm obsessed with these shoes, but the $3K price tag not so much... I'd love to know how to DIY!
http://us.christianlouboutin.com/shoes/samira-strass-100mm.html
So this season it is nearly essential with a great felt floppy hat! but everywhere i look the pricetag is pretty high, if its 100% felt like it should be...
so thats your challenge from me!
i know a hat like that is craftmanship! but you are so creative, you would probebly have the solution!
so heres a hat like the one Im thinking of:

Brilliant idea! Here are a few things I'd love to see you take on.
1) I would love to see your own version of Kurt Geiger's Corso Como pumps!

3) There's also a gorgeous necklace I saw on Gilt Fuse awhile ago, the "Adia Kibur necklace." Of course, it was too much for me at the time, but I wish I could've gotten it. It's no longer being sold, but there's a picture of it on Holier Than Now's blog. It's the 2nd necklace posted under "Five < Fifty."

I've seen your DIYs and love your attention to detail and the fact that they look high end! Would absolutely DIE to learn how to make an infinity wrap dress. But I'm at a loss where to start.

The last photo on Etsy is to show more ways to wear them- if that makes it easier to make. Would like to see them with more coverage on top like the Donna Karans. Pretty pretty please!
Id love to see a DIY of a necklace like this:

Can you refinish a piece of wood furniture, to make it look antique? I know I can find this elsewhere, but I would like to see how you spin it.
Would love if you could DIY this gorg garland. It looks quite simple and fun to make and would love to see how you would do it!

Oversize clutches are so perfect for everything and would love this one!
Funny that you posted this, because I had something last SPRING I almost sent you to see if you wanted to give it a go. But, I never did. Eventually, all things somehow find their way into blog posts. So, here it is: http://www.stilettosandgrace.com/2011/01/diy.html.
(Pick mine! Pick mine!)
Great idea! I have to admit I went through every single comment and hope to try a few of these DIY suggestions myself. I look forward to seeing the winning Maeg-It-Yourself.

Is there any way that you could DIY me a winning lottery ticket, lol? Or perhaps a relatively large bank account? :)
Other than that, I think I'll leave the DIYs to all of the crafty people!
I am in prom mode! I need a clutch for prom, I don't know what color my dress will be yet, and I'm having a hard time finding a cute and not grandma looking black or white clutch.
Some ideas would be

Valentino Bow Embellished Pumps
http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/79212
or a maybe a Floral applique satin clutch for Christine (above in a prior comment) for her to wear for prom.
Just found another one I would LOVE to see!! this coach tangle ball chain bag, but perhaps with a different style shoulder strap (the one it currently has looks super uncomfortable!)

Hi Maegan! Long time lurker who loves your blog. I live in Milan and work in Paris in the fashion industry so I see a lot of stylish people, and you epitomize a truly fashionable person who blends high, low, DIY, etc to create your own unique style! Anyhoo...
Saw this today and think it would be a great idea for a DIY. Cause seriously, $395? I know you can do better!

I am sooo excited to see all the DIY's you pick! My idea could be too expensive? It involves feathers I think - but I thought about making it maybe with tissue paper? For some reason it reminds me of your dining room light fixture and would look good in your house. I posted pics of the idea on this post:
http://couldbemetoday.blogspot.com/2011/02/poof.html
Love this new feature!
Hi Maegan,
I'll be very pleasured if you taught me how to renew suede shoes... Cause a have some flats that used to be gray, and now they are just ugly!!! Any idea of paiting, "attaching" or glitter surface would be great!!
Hi Meagan,
Love all your Diy's and this idea is awesome!
I love Nicole Richie's jewlery line House of Harlow but being a student it's way out of my budget.
Anyway you can DIY the head pieces from her collection?

I love this idea, and I admit to obsessing over all your DIYs while bored at work.
Milly's newest collection is all nautical! (This automatically means that is all gorgeous and amazing.)

I feel like it'd be a relatively easy DIY. It'd also be cool to do it with red rope and the gold/sparkles. YUM! (This is coming from a domestically challenged girl though, so who knows?)
Thanks, and hope you're doing well!

I feel like you might have done this one already, but if not, then....I think it is a good example of something that can be made at home.
http://us.asos.com/ASOS-ASOS-Vintage-Style-Lace-Bow-Short-Necklace/vvsr5/?iid=1440877&cid=4175&Rf900=1528&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=200&sort=2&clr=Gold&mporgp=L0Fzb3MvQXNvcy1WaW50YWdlLVN0eWxlLUxhY2UtQm93LVNob3J0LU5lY2tsYWNlL1Byb2Qv
So.. I think I know how I'd manage to do this (crackle on the main), get some mirrors, and cut them with a glass cutter (or take them to the glass cutter in the area)... antique them... and go from there... but I'd still very much appreciate seeing how you would DIY the mirrored dresser from Anthropologie.
P.S. it looks WAY more antiqued in person...

Hi Maegan!
I have been dying for some feather earrings - but all the ones I find are either too cheap looking or really expensive.

Hi Maegan! I stumbled upon this necklace online and I love it. It is semi-affordable as it's not "designer" per say..but not in my budget at this time! I hope the DIY requests don't have to be of designer items :)

Hi, I am a big fan of your blog and your ideas. Though as I am from Austria, I am not sure if you also accept my maeg-it-yourself wish. I loved your post about the new D&G collection of feather skirts - but I also liked the shape (and color) of the shirts, especially the pink shirt which is worn by the model with the pink skirt. Could you show me how to design a shirt with that neckline/shape?
Thanks a lot! You are a great inspiration :). Because of your outfit photos i started to get interested in photographing and now I have new hobby!

Hi Meagan,
I am a huge fan of your blog and love all your DIY projects. You have inspired me to really get my creative juices moving!

Recently discovered these necklaces here http://ludowomi.pl/sklep/galeria/kategoria/naszyjniki-korale-wisiory/kolekcja/do-koloru-do-wyboru
and couldn't get them out of my head. They seem so easy to make, because the colorful strings are plainly made of cotton, but I totally have no talent for any DIYs! Maybe yours is also enough for this one? ;)

Dear Maegen
I love your DIY projects and creativity. I saw a jacket embellished with safety pins and studs on page 9 of the website below. It looks like it is a leather jacket, but doesn't have to be. I am sure you could make something chic with safety pins and a bedazzler.

Hi Maegan!
I found this picture on tumblr and thought it would make a great DIY! I really want to try to glitter an old pair of heels but I'm thinking I'd love to see you (a seasoned DIY-er) try it first. I think old cheap black pumps with a busted up heel would see a second life with a little glitter and mod-pogue.
Love your DIYs

hi, i'm not asking you to make one for me, just that the recent leather lanyard you made is similar something I used to do! (long forgotten how to, though)
just add some bells and some loops? on top.. and it's a cute thing to hang.. haha

I love your blog btw!
This bracelet is not expensive at all, but it just looks like it would be really simple and fun to make, and you could make it with any colors you wanted. I'm just not creative to figure out how to make it

Just bought this super-cute shirt in steel gray and am loving the brooch the model is wearing, but they don't sell it. Any chance you could make it as a MIY? You can zoom in a bit to get a closer look. Would love it!
I am obsessed with the Masai necklaces by Padma Lakshmi. She wore one to the 2010 Emmys. I haven't been able to find a direct link, but it was part of the fall 2010 collection-- http://padmalakshmi.com/
I would love to see a DIY!

Hi Maegan! I love this blog and all of the amazing things you have done to your home. My husband and I are going to be renting an amazing house and we love it except for one thing....the horrible massive green marble fireplace. It will clash with all of my decorating and furniture and is such a strong focal point in the house. This is not a DIY for you to do, but I would seriously be so grateful if you could give me some advice on how to make it look better or paint over it is possible? The landlord said I can do what I want, but it has to be pretty inexpensive for us. I have included the link for the home. Thanks a ton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Maegan!
the link I posted before was incorrect :(
I have been dying for some feather earrings - but all the ones I find are either too cheap looking or really expensive.

I'd love some neon ones like Gwyneth's. Whatever you think! Thanks! :)

Bonjour Maegan!! Such a great idea :) Loving all the ones you have done already!! I think this necklace is really cute & versatile, & even though it's not too expensive to begin with, I think it would be a fun DIY & is on par with the color-blocking trend for spring!

Is this as simple as it seems?
hi!
i recently made the marabou feather vest you made a DIY for (and love it!), however since initially i couldn't decide on a colour i have quite a few left over!
i was wondering if you had any other ideas regarding what one could make with them
Hi Meagan!
I recently stumbled across some really cool necklaces and wondered if you could put your own spin on it, here's the link:

in pink

in lilac
and I also hope you could teach your readers how to make this:

or this:

I know the last ones don't have anything to do with fashion but I just think it's really unique and might count as home decor?
