At The Movies ...Take Me Home Tonight

254695434

I love movies. I do not love movie theaters. I hate crowds.

We went to see Take Me Home Tonight {which, if you've been following me for even a short period of time must know that I'm kind of in love with all things 80's} at 5:30 on a Tuesday evening. Perfection. And when we got there 10 minutes early the theater was empty. And when the lights dimmed and the guy came in to tell us to shut off our phones, etc, he shrugged it off and just said "Enjoy your private viewing". This made me happier than you might imagine. {wow, Maeg, just put yourself out there why don't you, tell the whole world just how insane you really are}. AN ENTIRE THEATER TO OURSELVES!??!?! A serious dream come true. So I took a few minutes to walk around and take some photos. Because uh, my dreams had just come true ...on my husband's birthday.

My feelings exactly! (re: movie theaters)........Used to love going to the movies.....not so much anymore. It just isn't the same as it used to be......Anyway, I enjoyed the clip.........maybe a matinee on a dull/rainy day. Have a great weekend, Sunshine!

I absolutely hate going to the movie theaters! I get so freaked out and panic stricken by the whole idea of it. SO glad Im not alone on that! I average about one movie a year in the theaters. Last year was Inception. This year is TBD.

I absolutely relate with the panic and agoraphobia. I've struggled with it for the last 12 years, and though it's nowhere near as bad as it was, it's still something I battle with every day. Sitting in traffic triggers it, so I have to chew a Xanax still. But that movie looks sooo good! I can't wait to see it!

We have VIP seats in Canada now. Big leather seats that rock and the waitresses bring you drinks. Five dollars more but worth it!

I understand about your anxiety. Stange how it can happen in certain situations and not in others. I was like this in my 20's and now its all but dissapeared. But my daughter has the attacks fequently but she is always in the public eye.

The #13 shot is my favorite. 13 just happens to be my lucky #.

Haha, it's awesome that you guys had such a good movie-going experience for your husband's birthday! I went on a date with a guy once to see Elf. We were the only couple in the theater and Elf wasn't super funny (You know, it's funny the fifth time you see it when it's randomly on cable). It was slightly awkward ... . This, however, sounds really relaxing and romantic. I'm happy for you! Good times.

Having a whole theatre to yourself is fantastic! Even in Lansing, and even after the movie has been out for awhile, it rarely happens, but it's kind of wonderful when it does!

I also don't like movie theaters, but mostly bc I have zero patience for the annoying teenagers that hang out at the local AMC. I was SO excited when I found the local, small, almost abandoned theater (Laemmle's Fallbrook). They do cheap movies and concessions on Tuesday nights, and the only other people there are senior citizens. I can't wait to see this movie if it's playing there, otherwise I'll wait until it comes out on dvd.

A trip to the movies can be a bit overwhelming. On a side note, how did you become a member of SAG? Can you give any pointers on obtaining a union membership??? Thanks in advance.

...the last time my husband and I were alone in a movie theater...well, it gets a little "R" rated...

Because of my panic attacks I was afraid of going to cinemas. Before I was soooo often. I although lived next to a cinema. And because of that I wanted to fight againt my anxiety. So I went alone to the cinema. I could have left if an attack got me - without leaving someone back there. And it worked out. The first thirty minutes are really bad. But then the movies gets me. Nowadays I can go with friends. But I try to go with 2plus friends. If I have to leave then nobody stays there alone. Thats although the way I'm going to bars and parties. Dates are impossible, but for the moment thats okay.

It's wonderful that you two had a great evening. And it's wonderful that your husband support you!
