In 2006, when shopping for my wedding shoes, I bought a pair of to die for leopard print calf-hair Gucci loafers thinking I could sneak them in under the guise of wedding gift to self. However, the husband wasn't too happy with the $800 price tag, so I reluctantly returned them. The thing is, I'd still be wearing them - almost 5 years later, and I kick myself at least once a month for getting rid of them. Yes they were expensive and no, I don't usually spend that kind of money on shoes {I wait for the sales} but they were so perfect and so classic that they would have been a proper shoe investment - if there is such a thing.

Since that sad and lonely afternoon when I had to part with my classic Gucci's, I've only found one other pair of leopard print heels that have even come close to the standard of greatness I set that day: the Alexander Wang leopard print wedges ...which unfortunately sold out immediately - meaning, there would be no sale and they would never be mine.

Last week when I saw these Casedei peep toes available in my size on GILT I almost fell off my desk chair trying to hit the "click to buy" button before anyone else snatched them up. I was unsure they were going to fit the width of my Cinderella's Stepsister's sized feet so a few days later when they arrived and like Cinderella, I slipped them on with ease, I didn't care that the heel was so high I might just topple over if a strong gust of wind blew past me.

Stiletto heel height aside, I'm still very much going to keep these lovelies because they are just about the sexiest pair of shoes I've ever slipped my feet into ...and if it weren't for my painfully swollen left ankle and my inability to go have it checked by a doctor, these actually wouldn't be that difficult to walk in ...they just look like they are. My Alexander Wang ankle boots are 10x's more challenging to walk in, even though the heel is much much thicker.

Maybe I'll keep these beauties on display like artwork ...just to gaze at them every now and again.
