Take Your Curtains from Drab to Fab!
...and my Ikea dressers makeover

DIY Curtains with tassels+office window nook +bench bookshelf

The other night as I was trying to fall asleep, I caught the beginning of Sex and the City 2 for the 10th time and was inspired by Carrie's tassel fringe trimmed curtains . . .

Carrie and Big's apartment from Sex in the City 2

. . . so while at JoAnn's the other day I picked up some black tassel fringe trim thinking maybe it would add that needed punch of black to my window treatment.

Needless to say, I went with the white silk curtains. And although I did love the metallic as well, my original idea for this room was very white and black and very girly

Ikea dresser before+ikea chest of drawers hack makeover Ikea Dresser Hack+Ikea chest of drawers makeover

The husband and I bought these {there are two, one on either end} from Ikea years ago when we lived in the condo and they both resided in each of our separate closets. The before photo is horrible and I'm kicking myself now for not doing a step by step process of how I upgraded these two dressers you can see another shot of one of them here in my closet post ...but here's a step by step of how I took them from boring to super fun ;)

1. Removed/unscrewed original handles
2. Since they are laminate, I had to hand-sand them to add a bit of texture so my paint would adhere.
3. You're not going to like this but I used gloss white spray paint {because that was all I had at the moment and I needed to get them done} ...and I painted right over the plastic fronts.
4. After they dried, I took the same sanders I used prior to texture them, now, to scruff up the paint giving it a vintage/shabby chic look
5. Went to OSH and found these hilariously awesome little lion's head pulls and purchased 20 of them {the original handles had 2 screws each}. You can find the lion's head pulls HERE. And you can see a close up of them HERE

I adore your new curtains! So beautiful! We actually did the same thing with a horrible Ikea wardrobe - I hated the glass inserts because everything was on a show (brrrr....), so we painted the entire thing white just like you did and I found some antique handles that looked like flowers. :) x

Oh wow, Maegan, the curtains are so much more dramatic with the tassels. THanks for the walk through in refinishing those dressers. I've always wondered how to paint over laminate and now I know! Can't wait to see the finished product.

The black tassles are really the perfect touch on the curtains! They're not overpowering, but they add just a little something.

And holy crap. I didn't even recognize the stand. I was looking at the before picture trying to find it when it hit me in the face.

There are many online stores having christian louboutin outlet, i believe you gonna like it!I like coach designer handbags as well and someone is looking for cheap chanel handbags?
