Messy Rope Braids and Low Bun Hair Tutorial

messy rope braids and low bun hair tutorial

* I originally wore this style last Summer with two slightly larger braids *

. . . there's a bit of speeding up hilarity throughout braiding sections . . . just a warning

* Notes: Instead of one large bun, create two or three little buns at base of your head OR swap the bun for a clean pony tail. If you leave a pony tail, you can also create a few skinny braids within it so it seems as though your braids are going all the way through.

...or just wear it long

I love all your hair styles, but I have short hair! Do you know any good hair styles for short hair (like victoria beckham)?

lol.
okay so last night i decided i wanted to wear this hairstyle for my day off, etc etc. loved it yadda yadda. i wake up (about an hour ago 6:15amish) and started watching your tutorial while workin' it out, braiding and such. i got to the ends, was putting my braids back to make my bun.. then realized after 35 or so minutes of work... i have FAT, CHUNKY bangs right smack on my sidehead (forehead but on the side)... ya no ethereal, beautiful hair for me. it was chunky bowl cut braids in a bun look. Ya, FUCK.

however, i did a rendition that seems to suit. i'll try and snap a photo of it today to blog about my "lovemagean..." inspiration :)

xx

Your tutorials make me wish I had long hair. More specifically, your hair :) Mine is fine and difficult and never looks good without a lot of work. If I can ever let it get past my shoulders without cutting it off in frustration, I will be trying all your hair-tos for sure.

K.Line said...

You really have the most gorgeous hair ever.

Ugh could your hair be more gorgeous?? I wish I could do this stuff- my hair is so thin, if I try to get braids that thick I wouldn't have hair left over. It's such a romantic, fun look. I still love your tutorials even though they make me jealous of your hair!!

Very pretty and simple! I love it!! It gives me something else to do with my hair :) Thank you!

Wow! I really reccomend you use spin pins made by goody. They are little pins that you spin into your bun and will keep your bun in all day without all the bobby pins. Just a tip to help you out!

Gorgeous hairstyles and I have to say, whoever is doing your photographs, you aren't paying them enough lol. Lovely photographs I am really impressed!
Will be posting a link to infopirate and other places for you ok?

I wore this style last night (the down-do) and I got complimented on it like crazy! I have a question though...and it's probably really dumb but I still have to ask: those clear hair pin type things that you used for the bun...what are those called?

Anonymous said...

great style, although I was a tad disappointed because the name mislead me, those are mini english braids, not rope braids.

I tried this hairstyle yesterday, and received buckets of compliments. Thanks Maegan!
