* My Favorite DIYs for Summer *

Since Summer is JUST AROUND THE CORNER and since I LOVE SUMMER I thought I'd revisit my Perfect-for-Summer-DIYs because... why not? So without further ado...

* * *

DIY-v-neck-t-shirt-dress-8

* Drop Waist V-neck T-shirt Dress DIY this dress is super easy, and if you don't have a sewing machine or serger, you can easily hand-stitch it together. I love this dress for around the house but did wear it out here and here.

* * *

ruffled bikini top+diy

* DIY Ruffles on Your Bathing Suit ...easily spruce up an old bathing suit, using an even older bathing suit, to add ruffles! {wore this last Summer & still in perfect ruffly condition} Would also be cute on a triangle top or across the top of a bandeau one or two piece.

* * *

cropped tank diy gray and neon watermelon pink cropped tank diy gray and neon watermelon

* DIY an Oversized Cropped Tank from an old T-shirt This one may be trendier now than it was when I DIY'd it. I wore it over a fitted t-shirt here but if you're a youngin' just wear it over a lace bra or bikini and a pair of cut-offs and you're good to go!

* * *

Bra Top+Sports Bra+Bralet+pink and black bra top+DIY alexander wang underwear

* Alexander Wang Inspired Bra Top - Sports Bra DIY Uber 90's & uber easy! Refashion an old wife-beater and wear in with a high waisted skirt, pants or shorts ...or under overalls {yeah, I'm totally serious ;}

* * *

DIY-Jersey-T-shirt-skirt-17

* DIY a Jersey Skirt from a T-shirt ...another great piece for around the house! It's so comfy, I die ;) ...Easy with a sewing machine or serger, or even to hand-stitch.

* * *

handbag DIY+beach bag+how to make a bag out of a tank top-1

* Refashion a Tank Top into the Perfect Beach Bag in a Snap! I honestly LOVE this easy DIY ...no, it won't carry your books to and fro class, but it will hold all of your beach essentials as you make your way from the sand back to your car.

* * *

Cotton T-shirt bathing suit cover-up-DIY-pool-1contrast

* SUPER Easy Bathing Suit Cover UP Only materials needed for this one are an oversized V-neck and a pair of scissors. You decide how low you want the sides!

* * *

blue-ruffle-shoes-flats-1

* DIY Ruffles on your Sandals MORE Ruffles? Yes :) ...add them {or create smaller, separate flowers} to any of your strappy sandals for Summer. I used satin for this tutorial but would be great in terry cloth for summer so just cut up an old beach towel. {jersey from an old t-shirt would be adorable as well}

* * *

Refashion Sweat Pants DIY-8

* Refashion Old Too-Short Sweats into Cute Cropped Harem Pants ...and this one's great for the girly kiddos too! No more high waters with this easy DIY.

Have Fun
...and Happy Memorial Day

oh girl, I wish I had the skills to do it! love reading it! I love love that white dress, it looks amazing and so chique, beach wear can look so dull, but I love this simple dress. smashing with the heels, they are so interesting and bold. Black shoes can be tricky for summer, but the way you have combined it! smashing. yep you are ready for summer. oh and the sandals look so phenomenal with the blue

I have a pair of french terry (light peach color) pants that were too tight, and years (yes, years) ago, I let out the darts and took off the waistband........now I know exactly to do with them!

This is a great little reminder post!!

I loved your Alexander Wang DIY and just recently cropped a striped camisole but I have yet to stitch the hem and now I'm glad I didn't! Adding a strip of elastic will give it just the look I am going for!

Love it!

Hi Maegan! First off, I LOVE your blog. Question, what black sandals are you wearing with the 1st picture with the white dress? I love them :)

...love Maegan said...

Anon: they were from Aldo in or around 2008 :) ...Thanks!

LOVE your DIYs and tutorials! Going to try the beach/market bag and cropped tank today :) However, what kind of sewing machine do you recommend for a sorta-beginner? I used one about 9 years ago for a Home Ec class, but I would love to get back into it without having to struggle for hours to get it working. Thanks!!
