I'm not the originator of this hair style but I've gotten so many requests for it, I thought I'd give it a go for you. I don't know what it's called either so I haven't researched it and/or found any other tutorials for it ...thus, this is my version of it, and I've dubbed it the Partial French Braid w/ Cascading Hair.
The photos I've seen online show the braid a little more straight across the back of the head and mine sort of braids at an angle, similar to my side/low french braid up-do. I'm sure this is 100% easier to do on someone else's hair than your own but it goes pretty quickly once you get the hang of it ...I mean, it's my shortest hair video tutorial to date. That's gotta mean something, right ;) Enjoy.
Note: Apologies in advance for the yelling of "NOOOO" towards the end, where I momentarily fear I'm going to lose my entire braid and have to start over.

Oh my goodness! I managed to do this with my hair thanks to your tutorial. And there isn't much I can do with my hair (it's not even shoulder length at the moment!) I'm so happy. <3
Lovely! It is so pretty. I am going to try it right away.
Wow! Love this! I really wish I was better at doing my own hair--I can never even to a braid without messing it up! Any suggestions? Maybe I just need my own pocket sized hair stylist! :-)
Maegan! I think you are the culprit behind my new obsession with braids :) I saw this video posted on Shannon Eileen's blog http://thesecretlifeofinvites.com/?p=448 And I tested out the do for myself. Not nearly as good as yours but definitely a hairdo worth trying again! Can't wait to read more blog posts from you!
Such a romantic hairstyle, I love it! Too bad my hair is layered and so dark, I don't think it will look as beautiful as yours in this style.
http://thefoolishaesthete.blogspot.com
i love that yours is at an angle!!
Hey Maegan, I was just wondering if you had any cute braid hairstyles for people who have short hair up to their shoulders. By the way I love your website
i didnt understand it!! the video was soo confusig but i love ur website
So cute! Thank you soo much for sharing!
Hi...I stumbled across your blog this evening by accident(via twitter? Who knows!)In any event,I love it! You are most definitely a multi-talented individual who seems to possess unlimited creativity. I've only looked at a few of your DIY projects, but I LOVE what I've seen so far...This hairstyle/side braid is adorable. I wish that I would have thought of it before cutting my hair...Many thanks for the wonderful ideas! So glad that I found you! Take care!
This is great especially if you have highlights/lowlights. I can't wait to try this on myself! It's fun, flirty and very down to earth!
I love that hair style, my sister did it for me yesterday and I love it! Thanks for pinning!
This is gorgeous, I can't wait to try it for a wedding I'm going to tomorrow. Good luck to me!
You crack me up! "NOOO!" Great tutorial, thanks!!
Thanks so much for this great tutorial! I wore it the day after I watched it and got HEAPS of comments!! perfect for me as I have really long hair with layers and braids have never really worked out all that well!
I did this braid on my mom this weekend and it was so cute and hippiesque on her. Thanks for the tutorial.
Ive linked it to my blog :-P
I wish my hair was that long. It looks really good. I can imagine my whole summer in this hairstyle.
Thanks for the tutorial. Great style with two-toned hair, really makes the highlights pop!
The way I usually finish off the cascading braid once I finish crossing the back of my head is by pinning off the hair once I'm done with the braid, and then using the rest of the hair I was braiding and making it a fishtail braid, and then I usually cover the bobby pin with some sort of flower pin. This is one way I've seen the cascading braid finished off, since you said you had never seen it from the front.
Love the beachy look, great tutorial!! You have gorgeous hair
This tutorial is awesome, I always have problems in doing this ´cause I have short and fine hair but I tried it once again following your rules and it worked it out! So, thanksss! By the way, I am interning for the Pinspire project, a website which is a vision board based social network. We have found content on our site that was originally sourced from your website and just wanted to verify that this was okay with you. We’re a young start up from Berlin and we are eager to grow up! Our project is quite challenging! Here is the link, check it out: http://www.pinspire.de/pin/show/54208 Please, let us know any suggestions you have! Thanks soo much!

thank you so much, i've been looking for this tutorial for ages and here it is
very clear :)
This might be my favorite one! Absolutely beautiful!
I like it. Ii is also widely known as the waterfall braid. But your version is more loose and bohemian looking than most waterfall braid tutorials out there.
Thanks for this! It really helps that you have stunningly gorgeous hair.
Gorgeous! Loving braiding my hair at the moment but not so good at it .
F.Y.I. She said it was also known as a waterfall braid. Dont critisize it is beautiful and nobody likes smart allics..... Your Welcome ;)
