gotta get back in time : 1996

1996 bro and I

This is totally random but I came across these photos from my brother's 8th grade graduation at the beginning of Summer of 1996 and mostly wanted to share this...

1996 hair and style

...and also admit that it's the very first time I ever noticed it in the background. You know, something about only looking at yourself in photos. But when I saw it I thought this guy must have been the inspiration behind Kenny Powers' fantastic hair.

I was 19 ...no wait, 20

1996 style -bros grade school graduation

...and wearing a dress that was my mom's from the 60's and my mom is wearing a dress that was mine from a few years earlier.

vintage polka dotted dress

And I still have the dress. It was one of my favorites in my late 90's, Drew Barrymore phase ...maybe I should give it a try now?

Hoarding only applies to smelly old junk, not cute clothes...that's what I tell myself. :)

Omgosh!!! I was 2 in 1996!! Amaaaazing pictures! You were and of course you still are extremely beautiful! I was thinking that you looked a bit like Drew Barrymore and then I read the last lines ahhaha! Awesomeness, no?? :D I think that you should really give it a try! :D

Haha, I was 1 back than...
That guy with the big hair is hilarious. Did he curl it or what? :D
The dress is really pretty! With some modern jewellery and heels it would probably look super stylish on you!

You totally remind me of Gwen Stefani in her "Tragic Kingdom" days in these pictures :) <33333!

Wow, you actually really look like Marilyn Monroe - in her younger years, you know before she cut her hair short? I realise you have short hair in these pictures but your face looks a lot like a younger Marilyn's! <3 Gorgeous!!!

I had that exact hair back then. I was 21. You look cute!

I love Eastbound and Down...and I feel incredibly dirty after every episode...and I don't know why! He was "winning" before Charlie Sheen ever considered his meltdown.

That is a TOTAL Drew Barrymore Mad Love/Boys On the Side hurr-do. I LOVED her like that (but then, I love her all the time, so that's non-unique). Love that dress, and that you still have it. I came across a vintage dress recently that I got years ago and couldn't even get it pulled up, much less zipped. Sigh.

P.S.
Dude in the background is the KING of Mulletville.

merci,
Shan

Ah, I love these pictures, thanks for posting them! That mullet is a thing of beauty.

Love your look, very Drew Barrymore/Jennie Garth/Gwen Stefani. Man, I loved the 90s :)

You look just like your mom who is beautiful-love that you share clothes. So cool.

Oh my gosh I absolutely love that you found these photos!! It brings me back to the good old days, although in 1996 I think I was 7 years old! I would love to see a modern updated outfit with that dress, now that it's practically vintage! :)

you are adorable. mullet man not so much but it's too good to pass up. and speaking of hoarders...I'm with you my friend. we just moved and holy chit (like my sister and I always say) - I have issues. I need help. I was practically crying bc I made myself get rid of things that I haven't worn/used in years. there's just no space for all of it!

i love your dress btw....this is why you need to keep everything. xx

These pictures are so cool, you totally looked like a typical 90s girl. Reminds me of myself, during the 90s.
I'm happy to read a blog from a 34 years old women ;0), because these blogs are less. Don't want to read girlie blogs all the time, because I'm a 31 years old woman
