This is totally random but I came across these photos from my brother's 8th grade graduation at the beginning of Summer of 1996 and mostly wanted to share this...

...and also admit that it's the very first time I ever noticed it in the background. You know, something about only looking at yourself in photos. But when I saw it I thought this guy must have been the inspiration behind Kenny Powers' fantastic hair.
I was 19 ...no wait, 20

...and wearing a dress that was my mom's from the 60's and my mom is wearing a dress that was mine from a few years earlier.

And I still have the dress. It was one of my favorites in my late 90's, Drew Barrymore phase ...maybe I should give it a try now?

very pretty dress, love it
Hoarding only applies to smelly old junk, not cute clothes...that's what I tell myself. :)
Omgosh!!! I was 2 in 1996!! Amaaaazing pictures! You were and of course you still are extremely beautiful! I was thinking that you looked a bit like Drew Barrymore and then I read the last lines ahhaha! Awesomeness, no?? :D I think that you should really give it a try! :D
Haha, I was 1 back than...
That guy with the big hair is hilarious. Did he curl it or what? :D
The dress is really pretty! With some modern jewellery and heels it would probably look super stylish on you!
You totally remind me of Gwen Stefani in her "Tragic Kingdom" days in these pictures :) <33333!
just love the dress!
Wow, you actually really look like Marilyn Monroe - in her younger years, you know before she cut her hair short? I realise you have short hair in these pictures but your face looks a lot like a younger Marilyn's! <3 Gorgeous!!!
I had that exact hair back then. I was 21. You look cute!
I love Eastbound and Down...and I feel incredibly dirty after every episode...and I don't know why! He was "winning" before Charlie Sheen ever considered his meltdown.
That is a TOTAL Drew Barrymore Mad Love/Boys On the Side hurr-do. I LOVED her like that (but then, I love her all the time, so that's non-unique). Love that dress, and that you still have it. I came across a vintage dress recently that I got years ago and couldn't even get it pulled up, much less zipped. Sigh.
P.S.
Dude in the background is the KING of Mulletville.
merci,
Shan
My sister's hair was exactly like yours, how cute! That is totally Drew. I love the dress. I think you need to model it for us!
Megan
My first thought was Kenny Powers, too!
I said to myself "Drew Barrymore" when I saw you, I love her! You looked so pretty with short hair, so cool that you still have de dress, polka dots are a classic!

For sure give it a wear now! Navy and white polka dots never go out of style!
Very Drew! And I agree, a young brunette Marilyn. Girl you got some good genes! AND hand-me-downs!

WOW you look good! ;) I remember desperately wanting to be Drew in the Batman movie (the Riddler/Two-face one).
Ah, I love these pictures, thanks for posting them! That mullet is a thing of beauty.
Love your look, very Drew Barrymore/Jennie Garth/Gwen Stefani. Man, I loved the 90s :)
You look just like your mom who is beautiful-love that you share clothes. So cool.
love it! look at that hair! very gwen stefani-esque. i would love to see the dress in an outfit post. it would look totally different with how you style it now!
I was just going to say you remind me of a young Drew. ;) Would love to see how you'd style it now. :)
LOVE these pics and love this dress. I had one very similar although a bit longer, I got it from that old sister catalog to J Crew called Tweeds. I adored it! Very Drew B on you :)
LMAO!When I saw that first pic of you,I totally knew you were going for a Drew look,a la "Mad Love".My sister and I were OBSESSED with her after that movie.
Oh my gosh I absolutely love that you found these photos!! It brings me back to the good old days, although in 1996 I think I was 7 years old! I would love to see a modern updated outfit with that dress, now that it's practically vintage! :)
I was thinking Drew Barrymore in Batman, as Sugar. :)
You look gorgeous. You remind me so much of Kelly from 90210 (the original version). Love the mullet, classic haha.

I love these pics! Your look is so perfectly 90's, I love it. I def think you need to bring that dress back!
Total Drew Barrymore hair and dress! Super cute!
and so weird, I went to St. Charles too! Your brother graduated the year before me. No wonder he looked familiar!
You look just like Drew Barrymore!
I immediately thought of Drew Barrymore.
you are adorable. mullet man not so much but it's too good to pass up. and speaking of hoarders...I'm with you my friend. we just moved and holy chit (like my sister and I always say) - I have issues. I need help. I was practically crying bc I made myself get rid of things that I haven't worn/used in years. there's just no space for all of it!
i love your dress btw....this is why you need to keep everything. xx
Omg you look like "Kelly Taylor" from 90210 :)Ohh the 90´.....!
Hoarding does not count if you use the items. I hope we see this dress in a outfit post soon. I love that you went through a Drew Barrymore phase! I love her. And I still can't believe how much you and your mom look alike. :)
wow that dres is sooo pretty!! love your blog ♥

Welp....I went through a Drew phase as well. I love her!!!
FYI: I was 21 in 1996 and she was the bizznass back then. That dress is awes!
thanks for sharing, made me laugh! and that dress looks really awesome.
These pictures are so cool, you totally looked like a typical 90s girl. Reminds me of myself, during the 90s.
I'm happy to read a blog from a 34 years old women ;0), because these blogs are less. Don't want to read girlie blogs all the time, because I'm a 31 years old woman
bye, from Germany
Sara
Wow! You still have the dress. Amazing! And it still looks great. :)
Yes, give that dress a try!! And now, I'm regretting giving away some of my favorites. . . . Darn!
