What I'm Wearing
* Victoria's Secret long sleeved Dolman striped T on sale at the moment for $24 ...this is cut very wide and boxy and when I raise my arms, my entire stomach shows but I love the relaxed fit. I got a Medium but maybe could have grabbed a small instead.
* Victoria's Secret Kiss Capri Red pants ...they were on sale for $23 so I thought, let's just try and I was surprised at how much I liked them really. Other than being a little baggy right below the knee {and I have huge calves so I'm not sure what they were going for} they fit well and true to size. I ordered a 6 ...they were a bit snug to slip on but stretched out to a perfect fit within minutes. Again, I wish they were cut a bit slimmer throughout the lower leg like my J Brand Houlihan's
* Asos boyfriend belt, my vintage/new mix of bangles, a pearl strand bracelet & hoop earrings
* L.A.M.B. Daphine Studded Sandals
* NEW GUCCI round cat eye sunglasses ...loving them
* Louis Vuitton Speedy 30
* Hair: twisted and clipped up into a bun-ish-twisty-thing while wet after my shower.
* Title: lyrics from Madonna "Papa Don't Preach"
Day 3 back at the gallery and I am officially over it ... I only work Tues/Thurs/Fri 10-4, you'd think I'd be capable of handling it. And last week I thought I was. And now, not so much.
The drive to and fro absolutely kills me. I'm afraid it's actually going to kill me one day. It's 9 fucking miles but absolutely kills me and gives me major road rage because 9 fucking miles in Los Angeles calculates as 45 minutes of sitting behind assholes who are doing anything but paying attention to the road and actually driving. Am I the only one who honks at a person to GO because again, they're doing anything but paying attention to the road, and instead of GOING they get out of their car to either hold up traffic by acting a fool in the middle of the street or actually walk up to my car window to yell at me? Do you know how many times in my life this has happened? Do you know how terrifying it is wondering if said asshole is going to put his fist through my window and into my face? Has it swayed me from honking my horn in traffic? No. Why? ...because I'm a total idiot, that's why ...but also I JUST WANT THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. My question is this: Why does a horn honk to me signify GO but to many men signify OH THIS BITCH WANTS ME TO GET OUT OF MY CAR AND SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF HER! ?
Oh and also, the boss has asked me to come in an extra day this week to ya know, cure cancer and shit because SELLING ART IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT and I have nothing else to do as far as he's concerned. yeah, that's sarcasm, because I'M TOTALLY BITTER TODAY. Officially over it. Donesky. Perspective = Gone. Rant over. Thanks for listening.

Hahaha! I can't believe people would actually get out of their cars to yell at you?!?!? CRAZYYYY (and kinda funny)! :)
On a completely different note; love your outfit! I've been wearing stripes waaaaay to often lately!
xxx,
Fashion Fractions
Wow, I've never seen people acting on the road this way where I live. That would have been fun :D
Love those glasses so much!

While I do understand you're frustrated about it, you might want to look at it from the perspective of a person who has to drive 30, 40 or even 150 miles to get to work.
I say count your blessings
Holy crap I would be TERRIFIED if someone yelled at me!
I just want to say, I always feel guilty for wearing stripes so I was happy to see you ROCKING them :) :)
Sorry about the crazies....yikes...
Did you end up seeing a lot of bagging with those? They're cute, color-wise, but it looks like they're too big for you (not by a lot, just a little!).
Love,
Jaime

9 miles?
Maeg, my love, I encourage you to bike it! Your commute will feel 118% less stressful...and if nothing else, go faster...
...and get the booty in bikini-shape (not that it ain't already)...
...anyway...lovin' the R.W.B. & brown...my outfit post today...has me wearin' some heels (not as high), striped sweater, pants that stop at the ankle...tee hee!
round these parts...when i occasionally need to honk, the person in front of my typically jumps into gear and waves a hand of apology. so i can't imagine what i would do if someone got out of their car and acted like a total jackass. i mean, just GO. no big deal people! ugh.
i'm glad i live in my small southern town :)
love the pants, i have huge calves too (well huge legs in general) and was wondering abt these VS pants. i didn't want to fork out the dough for the popular JBrand colored jeans so maybe i'll try them.
thanks & you look great as always!
I honk at stupid drivers in front of me ALL the time! but WTH people actually got out of there car to come yell at you?! Thankfully that hasn't happened to me.. yet! lol
Coming from DC, I totally understand what you're talking about. I drove 25 miles to work every day and it took an hour to an hour and a half and that's with me being able to drive in the HOV lane. My resolution, I finally moved. Just couldn't take it anymore. Not like moved cities, completely relocated, different state. Prioritize what's important, if your sanity is, which I assume it is, then take action! You'll feel so much better.
I have road rage and I live in a small town. I would be the nut that went cray cray on someone.
Just put the pants in my shopping bag! :)
ur newest follower here - haha
i had the SAME issue - gues yesterday wanted to fight with me b/c he wanted the rd to be 2 lanes and it was only 1 - UNREAL ... this was in NY - NY and the bouroughs has such gross drivers! - i get so mad all the time at them!
Oh dear! I hope the 405 closing doesn't affect you too much. I have a few friends in LA that are going to be PISSED!
Cute outfit. HOT SHOES!!! I need some red skinnies like that..*heading off to web surf for some*
Prissy
Gorgeous pictures and AMAZING outfit! I love red pants... pairing them with that top and those HOT brown sandals was so clever.
I know what you mean about commuting to work with the traffic. GRRRR!
I just started taking the train to work (we relocated to the city) and I did not realize how stressful driving was!! At least you only have to drive to work 3 days a week, imagine if it was 5? lol
Crazy man yelling at a woman, how gentlemen of them, ugh! Hope that extra day at the gallery goes smoothly, look at the bright side you are smoking hot! and have awesome shoes like those ones!
Cess O. <3 The Outfit Diaries
im sorry, but what else is so important to do that you cant handle a not-even part time job?
You crack me up! I appreciate your venting! I cannot believe people get out of their car...you should carry mace or a bat just in case.
p.s. love the outfit!
Please be careful driving, honking, etc. Better to be safe and just chill out in your car (doors locked, etc.). About your capris..........Finally someone (you) calling a capri a capri!! The capri/capris originated in exactly that length. Just above the ankle. Now-a-days they are calling true capris many other names. By the way, it's sunny (finally) here, Sunshine! Have a great day, and peaceful driving.
Such a beautiful look Maegan! I love how you styled it so it's not uber nautical, it's kinda nautical inspired but fashion forward, I'm looooving it!!! I suffer from horrible road rage too, I think from growing up in the northeast. People are such dicks and don't know how to drive. It's beyond frustrating. Hang in there doll!
xoxo

Obviously Anon from 6:58 AM doesn't live in southern CA. I'm in Orange County and same deal - nine miles is insane. For this reason, I hate driving and have been becoming a homebody more and more over time. I understand your frustration and don't blame you for quitting. My desire, is to work from home just to avoid so cal drivers. If I won the lottery, forget buying a nice new car, I'd pay someone to drive me around in my dented Escort.
1. I love every part of the outfit. Especially the pile of bracelets. Love.
2. How did it come to be that there are so many people now who have NO IDEA how to drive? B. doesn't like to ride with me because of the frequency with which I use my horn to let people know that they're driving really, really poorly.
3. I totally feel you about work - there are some days where it's not worth it. Not at all.
I live in O.C. and drive to L.A. ALL the time. I NEVER honk at people. Too many crazies! It also annoys the heck out of me when people hit the horn if I don't jump like a jackrabbit after the light turns green.
Mello out Meagan!!! Life it too short!!!
you look gorgeous as always. I wore almost the same outfit the other day!
Thanks for being honest and sharing your true emotions, and your true self on your blog... This is a little bit of a tangent but I will bring it back home, did you know that there is actually a thing they are studying into called "fb depression" because everyone only posts about the wonderful things in their life and no one posts about things like "today I got fired" or "my husband and I got in a huge fight" ect.. being positive is great and all dont get me wrong I actually prefer it most 99% of the time, but I guess it is actually affecting a huge group of people because they start to look at their life, the dirty laundry, the bills and don't understand why their life isn't so glamourous... k bringing it back! SO I am thankful that you do mention the not so beautiful things in life, such as getting annoyed at a boss for not maybe telling you with more of a heads up that he wanted you to come in, or the fact that 9miles could take forever in LA or using your horn could cause you danger.. I personally love it because come on we all have those days! I got your back!
I love your blog, it's amazing and way to inspiring! Am definitely following!

Beautiful and relaxed outfit, perfect for summer :)
White and red never fail together, this combo looks wonderful.
I love this outfit, I need pants that color! XOXO, www.NatalyasCloset.com
I hear you on that LA traffic! Ugh, I hated driving from Whittier all the way to Culver City!! Even though I would carpool with my bf, it still didn't make a difference because there isn't a carpool lane on the 5 fwy.
It's good to vent, and I hope you have a better afternoon. :)
Cheer up, you're way too fabulous to be angry. :)
xoxo,
Mel
love your outfit :)
http://yellowbuttonss.blogspot.com/
I love you so so so much! I'm a firm believer in using my horn to alert idiot drivers of their idiocy. Even though no one has gotten out and come at me (yet), I did once see someone get out of the car 2 cars in front of me, walk to the car in front of me, and bitch slap the driver! I couldn't believe it. I honked cuz the light was green. She got back in her car. True story.
um, your rant made me laugh and laugh. girl, you know i can relate. the driving in los angeles is MADDENING. FUCKING MADDENING. IT RUINS MY LIFE SOME DAYS. but i have yet to have a man get out of his car and threaten my face. let's just say any man that pulls that on me WILL RUE THE DAY! god! fists would be flying! or not. ugh. it is all so infuriating! gah!
Dude, people get out of their car to yell at you?! I never had that happen to me when I lived in SoCal, thankfully. That is freaking scary.
but wait...I thought you were quitting to blog full time. You should because your talents are much appreciate around these parts :)
omg, I'm totally running to Bloomie's to pick up those sunnies. So absolutely cute! I love your outfit posts.
Hello! Your blog is inspiring! Step here every day and am very happy seeing the pictures! You could help a blogger who is starting? I´m from Brazil! =D
Any disclosure, or help will be great!

It sounds like we have the same commute! Although I live in North Carolina and you'd think that bumper to bumper traffic would be non-existent here...it's awful. I have been called every name imaginable as a response to my honking at someone to move. The constant reel of commentary in my head is viscous and road rage is in full force! Hang in there ma'am!
I wonder if the weekly jackass comment is always from the same anon person...hmmm anyway...human emotions just are what they are and we all have moments like this for one reason or another. I loved everything about todays post. Let it out girl! And tomorrow will be GREAT!
Love this outfit, the red pants are perfect with the striped tee. And the bag is to die for :)
xo
Unfortunately, I have experienced that as well :( Chill out girl - no more honking!! It's not worth it - some of those folks are psycho for real!!!
Quit for job - full-time blogging - muah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha :)
First off...you look fabulous while ranting!!! I love this look on you!
Second...I watched a guy on a motorcycle almost get run over by an asshole in a giant truck last weekend only because the guy in the motorcycle was slowing down instead of stopping. I thought I was going to have to be an eye witness. People that are willing to jump out of their cars are crazy!!! How do they know you don't have a gun? I grew up with one of those people. My Dad used to do that all the time. Even came to blows with a guy in a pizza restaurant parking lot once.
I'm a honker too (that sounds so funny now that I've typed it) but please keep your window up when doing it and stay safe. :)
This is my favorite outfit of yours ever! You look perfect and laidback! And as for the driving, I live in a rural town, and I hate people more than anything when I drive, so you have my sympathy and respect for driving in the city!
ewwww a motorcyclist once followed me all the way to where i was going (to drop my baby sister off at school) and got off her bike, in front of the school, to come knock on my window and scream at me. rude.
those days where you are just over everything are the worst :( i hope things start looking up for you!
xo, holeh

Lol, oh that's terrible - people are so dumb sometimes!! It's almost worse to only have to go a few miles in LA than like 50-60 miles, cuz you're already ready for a long ride and expect traffic, but the short trips get me every time too! At least you look adorable!!! :)
http://sweetandsassy-sherry.blogspot.com/
uh whoa. That scares me!
However, I love the outfit :)
Maegan, that's it...I am going today after work to try to find me some color jeans....Been dying to try them and I hope I dont look like a cow...LOL....Another great inspiration look for casual Friday :)
A) I live in DC. I'm sure it's not AS bad. But it's bad. I feel ya, girl.
B) *And more importantly* This post is most amazing to me because I am pretty sure my most favorite-in-the-whole-world article of clothing when I was in 5th grade was this fabulous pair of red jeans that I ruined by accidentally washing with a felt-tip pen in the pocket....and I've searched for an equally awesome pair ever since. You win.
Thanks for being lovely.
awesum outfit!! love the colours.. you got amazing blog ♥
http://msminik.blogspot.com/
Again i always love your jewelry... love the bracelets!
So, I had to have the pants. I hope they look half as good on me. Thanks for the info!
Donesky. Love that, gonna use it ;)
I don't know how anyone drives in LA without losing their minds. The one time I've been there, I was wiht a group of friends and we went to have sushi, and when we left the restaurant it was bumper to bumper... at 11:30 on a Sunday night!! Definitely a wtf moment. More power to ya girl, I couldn't do it. And people getting out of the car to scream at you!?! WTF indeed! Be careful, that's scary.
xoxo J
Super cute! Im dying for a pair of red pants like these!
jemappelleshen.wordpress.com
Please before blowing your horn think of all those innocent people who live there around and have nothing to do with your problem but will be agressed by the noise you are making. 10 years ago driving in LA was so relaxed, nobody would blow their horn at you and you learned to accept other peoples slowness. Now people are just a pack of excited freaks. They drive like crazy, stick to your butt and blow their horns for no reason. When you live in a city like LA you consider living not far from your job or finding a job not far from your home. And please stop taking car driving lightheartedly, each time yo drive out of your home your life is in danger. Driving is no game.
And by the way, go to Barnes & NOble and get some books about the law of attraction. It says that what you give a lot of attention to you attract...I never had any problem on the road with anyone...
love the red pants! ps - bought these shoes on gilt and don't know HOW on earth you last all day - they kill me haha :)
xx
Effortless chic. Your photos have always been great, but the artistic factor has really been ratcheted up a notch! Bravo!
I ran into this post again and wanted to say how much I LOVE the layered bangle look. You are so chic!
