Think Pink : Honeysuckle to be Exact

Untitled-1

I call it Watermelon. Pantone calls it Honeysuckle. No matter the name given, with a hint of peachy redness, it's one of my favorite hues of pink. It just so happens to be 2011 Pantone's Color of the Year.

And if your computer monitor is set to the same color settings as mine is, you'll see that many of my font colors are set to a very similar shade ...set before Pantone deemed it worthy & most likely to remain hereafter. And though they announced it just before the new year, the trend didn't really start to peacock until Spring. And Spring it has all over well... everywhere. And now that it's Summer, I am finding it impossible to pass up.

But back to its professional name for a moment while I get lost in a Honeysuckle haze ... which until Pantone's declaration I thought of only as a flower but more particularly, a scent. A scent of lotion I wore when I was 17 years old ...mostly around the time when I worked at a skate/snow/surf shop in the Valley called Val Surf. And to this day, the name Honeysuckle, and sweet scent of it, swirl fond memories of youth and exploration and rebellion and oh so much fun around my head. Those who were there with me during that time are that of a ghost now but they should know they introduced me to a world I had only read about in books & magazines. Much fun had. Many lessons learned. More memories remembered from that time than any other before ...and some after.

Honeysuckle haze over ...let the color story begin.

Pink in all its glorious shades, is a very important part of my life, stylistically and psychologically.

FYI... Pink was originally the colour for boys. Being a variation of red and red was the colour of assertiveness, aggression and blood...which is pink when sprayed on a battlefield.

What's freaking me out is that I know that photographer girl in the pink jeans! She is the floor caretaker for the designer space I work in. The very funny thing is she never wears colour! She was attending Australian Fashion Week as a street style blogger.

I really love pink. It's my fave color. I actually want to do my bedroom in pink. But I don't want it to come off juvenile.

Can you give any suggestions?

Ahh! Valley girl, holla! Honeysuckle is one of my favorite scents. So sweet and lovely. I always thought honeysuckle were whitish/yellowish flowers (they grow in my backyard and we used to pick them and taste their sap - it was SO sweet).

The girly girl in me loves every shade of pink and this one is one of my favorites as well. I dress Charlie in way too much pink probably but I just love it too much!

I love this color. It's the color in between too pink and too red, but not too much of any of them. I am not much of a pink girl but I do however love this color and would totally include some of it at home and to my clothing. Beautiful photos by the way, very inspirational.

Hi! This doesn't have anything to do with Honeysuckle, although I loooove the pink color as much of a tomboy as I am.
I do have a hair question though, and I figured I'd just ask you while it was on my mind.
I've seen it often in your hair tutorials that you'll just blow dry it before doing anything. Whenever I blow dry my hair, no matter what product (including frizz serum) I may use, my hair will volumize to the size of a lion mane. I wish I was exaggerating. I've always steered clear from the blow drying for that reason. Tips? Or suggestions?
Thanks darling!!

Very cosmetic pretty colour. My daughter just modelled a $700.00 jacket for Holt Renfrew in this signature shade. Looks great on anyone but particularly blonds.

So... my friend keeps a tiny apartment on the border of Nice and Cannes. It is one room where the bathroom is bigger than the kitchen, and the balcony serves an ocean breeze dining room.
The entire place was painted in what she called 'cerise', and she served us a bowl of fresh cherries, and the insides were the very same rich pink.
We are as wild as the fruit we eat.
Cheers!

I just found your blog today and have been reading it while at work (I'm working too, just you know). You have made me incredibly homesick for the valley today and this post in particular. I bought my very first pair of Van's at Val Surf (the black and white checkered ones)... good times, good times...
