STYLE // Poolside My Go-To Waterfront Outfit (Summer 2011)
This outfit post features an effortless, relaxed poolside look styled in San Diego and Santa Monica, designed as an easy go-to waterfront outfit for warm summer days. The look centers around a casual yet polished swim-friendly ensemble, layered for comfort and movement between the pool, beach, and social settings. The styling captures a laid-back California summer vibe, blending practicality with a feminine, put-together aesthetic that feels natural, unfussy, and wearable for real life poolside moments. // Originally published: September 7, 2011 // Last updated: May 27, 2026

wear to the pool

If you caught a glimpse of me out by the pool in San Diego at BlogHer’11, you may have already seen this outfit… and I wore it again over the weekend in Santa Monica with the husband. It’s an easy and {what I think} adorable poolside or beachfront ensemble that I just throw on for such an occasion.

Here’s why: I LOVE this silk tunic but it’s REALLY short… too short to wear as a dress {unless you’re 20} but works as a bikini cover up swimmingly . . .you like that pun? …it’s by Tucker.

My favorite summer slip ons, Avarcas again, Kooba “Jonnie” bag for toting all my magazines, Tom Ford cat eyes and an old straw fedora. Easy. Cute. Done. Great for poolside drinks at the bar at dusk as well.

Hello sand. Hello sea.
