In the Fall of last year, I purchased two Mongolian Fur pillows for our game room (seen above). *our game room has changed a bit since then
And now, just over a year later this is what they look like.
Sad. Mangled. Miserable. Angry even.

Granted, they are not best quality of Mongolian pillows nor do we take care of them as we should. In fact, these type of decorative pillows should most probably sit in a formal living room that doesn't get much action but looks really pretty. Ours were in our game room. The room where mostly boys live. This is no home for Mongolian fur pillows.
And then I had an idea... before tossing them in the goodwill pile, why not just comb out the hair? It couldn't hurt to try considering the shape they were in. So I found my ginormous shower comb {which I never use} and gently combed out the hairs.

And it worked. Swimmingly.

And now I can keep them. All is well. ;)

"Sad. Mangled. Miserable. Angry even." OMG that was so funny!! The pic of the pillow DID look angry.
I picked up a Mongolian fur pillow from TJ Maxx.. now I know what to do if it get's "angry".
Thanks for the chuckle!
Brilliant! I give up way to many items to Good Will and never think to try to revive them. I'm inspired!
So silly but this totally reminded me of when I would brush my stuffed animals' hair -- Then give them haircuts ;)

Those poor pillows!! I'm so glad that you found a way to bring them back to their former glory. Putting them in a room where they would get no use is sad... frankly, I believe that things should be battered and well-used! What's the point of having something if it doesn't get some love? Great game room too :*

Your game room looks like such a great place to hang out! Glad you were able to save your pillows :)

Hi, Maegan......You can occasionally shake the pillows out to keep the fur fluffy and untangled. Also, I love the overhead lighting on wire.....(name and where to buy??). Happy Sunday, Sunshine!
Bless their little mangled dreadlocks! I've done this with mine, but just used an old brush (actually put them in the washing machine first and they still turned out ok!!).
You know what also works great is a dog grooming brush. I used it on all my sheepskin after I have washed it and it comes up looking fluffy and soft.
I have a rug that does this all the time-I wash it every other month or so and it livens right up! Darn dog loves to sleep on it ;)
Great idea!!
wow....who knew!

I have some pillows similar and they could do with a good comb (I washed them and they got all matted) but I'm scared if I do that I'll just pull all the hairs out, they're not real fur and they're not the best quality either!
