Silver & Gold Glitter Manicure ~ Nails for a New Year

glitter nails - new years eve nails

My husband LOVES when my nails are painted and if you're a long-time reader, you know why ;) so doing them to share here, with you, is just an added bonus. Sometimes I need dual motivation to succeed at certain tasks or it's just not worth my time. But I'll admit I've been loving all my fun manicures as of late.

I wanted something bright and festive and fun for New Year's Eve and didn't want to stick to just gold or just silver so I combined the two by painting half of my nail with one and the other half, with the other. It's similar to my glitter stripe manicures but covers the entire nail. I'm sure you could also layer one over the other but I thought it'd be a bit too thick... and anyone who has used these glitter polishes knows what a headache they are to get off so I thought I'd do half and half. I love the turnout!

oh my your manicure is amazing. I have silver sparkle polish on right now but didn't think about mixing it with the gold and then on top of the white base... brilliant!

That OPI glitter is fab, but as you mentioned in a previous post, a real pain to take off. I think I will pair the gold with a very dark blue for NYE. I really like your combination!

I love all the glitter manicures! I have a huge collection of glitter polishes, but didn't use them often until I discovered a trick to take them off. I cut five cotton pads in half, soak them in nail polish remover, and wrap them around my fingertips with tinfoil on top. Have weird alien hands for 3 minutes, them slide them off. It's easier when you do all your figers first and then do the thumbs seperately.

I love it! Since seeing the OPI glitter polishes here I've really wanted to get one but can't find them in the UK (even on ebay) - so sad! Maybe I'll get out the glitter pens instead!x

I love the glitter manicures and I saw that someone mentioned an easy removal tip... just wanted to say that it works perfectly!

again, soak cotton balls in nail polish remover, place one cotton ball on each nail and wrap each nail with aluminum foil. let it sit for about 5 minutes. pull the cotton ball and foil combo off your nails and you'll pull ALL of the glitter off with it. amazing!

Seeing all of your recent nail polish posts has inspired me to use all of my colors at least once this year!!! I actually just bought a silver and a gold effect from CND. I think even though the New Years is over I'm going to do this manicure. Or maybe I'll do it on my toes. :)

I must be a long time reader! My husband likes it too. :) Great color combo, its gorgeous. To remove glitter polish I followed this blog's example and you don't have to fuck with aluminum foil.

Not my blog...hope they don't mind.
