You're correct about the sandals you did the DIY from no longer being available, but I thought I'd let you know what I was able to dig up.

They are by Ruthie Davis and they were called the 'High Line Platform Crisscross Sandals'. I think they premiered in the spring or summer of 2009. They were available exclusively at shopbop.com:
