Other jewels: Guy & Eva Joyce & Josephine bauble bracelets + various silver bangles. Vintage turquoise ring & wedding rings
I was asked to participate in a DIY for an upcoming feature on BuzzFeed.com's sister site, "SHIFT" and with some specifications, I headed to the hardware store to challenge my eye for all things crafty and fabulous. While I was looking for supplies, I found these fun external lock washers that look like gears and thought they'd work quite nicely worked into a chain link bracelet. the husband loves it because it looks like the Gears of War logo. Beyond this, I actually found a few bag-fulls of equipment to get my DIY on for the next few weeks. But until then... here's my new favorite silver bracelet... and I'll let you know when my feature is live at SHIFT.
What You'll Need...

* External lock washers {size #10} that look like little gears
* Chain link... I used a dark silver for contrast
* Closure and jump ring
* Beading Pliers
Steps...

* Using your pliers, separate a handful of links from your chain.

* Slide two washers onto your single link and clamp it back together.

* Continue adding link+washer+link+washer until you hit your desired length.

* Attach your closure... I used one of the washers as the jump link... you can also make it longer and link it wherever you like, leaving some chain to hang down.
* Also make earrings and a necklace! It's easy ;)
Voila!

It's surprisingly dainty when worn alone... or mix it up!

I made earrings with lock washers just like those about a week ago. I used gunmetal links and findings to contrast against the silver. Such a fun piece of jewelry to wear.
Thanks for the great idea...made this yesterday and I love it!
