Custom Victorian Dog Portraits

In late 2010, if you can remember all the way back then, I placed a wanted ad here on this blog for a Victorian Dog Portrait Artist who would fashion my dogs, LeRoy the French Bulldog and Bebop the Pug, into Regal Victorian portraits. And while I did get quite a few email responses, it wasn't until earlier this year, when one young artist in the UK named Luke Jervis sent me a photo of a recent koala bear portrait he had done that I knew this was the artist for the job.

After a few months of emails and mock-ups, I was SO excited to receive a beautiful brown paper package, tied up with strings with my gold framed dog portraits ready to hang. They are 10" x 8" works {framed size is about 13" x 11"} and capture my dog's faces and personalities so perfectly, I was blown away when I saw them in person! They make me laugh in the best way possible... so much that while readying these photos for this post, I couldn't help a few random laughter outbursts in my otherwise quiet house. And of course I included far more photos than necessary, but they are so perfect, words cannot even explain. I'm actually going to hang them above the Union Jack Flag print in the game room you see peeping out in a few photos, but for now, they're resting on the gold stump side tables.

If you are thinking about similar works for your pets, I seriously recommend Luke Jervis for the job. You can see more works on his website and contact him for rates {which include the gold frames AND shipping from the UK}. They are worth every penny.

Is there such a thing as too many dog pictures? I think not. These turned out so good, definitely worth the wait. I love how the guys are posed next to their portraits. Such serious little dogs!
