I've mentioned before that cooking is not my strong suit. It's not that I'm a bad cook, per se, I just hate the act of cooking. Okay, "hate" is maybe too strong a word. I'll put it to you this way; I cook for our dogs twice a week because I have to. The husband and I order in or go out to eat almost daily. We're both lazy when it comes to cooking anything more than soup or making a salad or a sandwich. {But that is going to change soon... more on that later.}
Confession: I did NOT know how to cut a pineapple before this day.
While I love pineapple, I've always gotten it pre-cut to eat. But since our friend Timmy was so kind to bring a pineapple to our Crocs party, I thought instead of watching it rot on our kitchen table, I'd cut it and eat it. And since I didn't know how, I googled/found and watched this video on how to cut a pineapple and quickly learned this easy technique.
I thought I couldn't be the ONLY one who didn't know how to cut a pineapple... and thought I'd share the process with you through this long series of pretty photos. ;)
But first, a few tips...
You can tell if your pineapple is ripe by tugging on the leaves {or A leaf} nearest the center. If they pluck out easily, you're ready to cut.
Here's What You'll Need...

* Knife
* Peeler
* Cutting board
* Bowl :)

Serve...

Or Eat...

Or just look at it...

Sure you could have just...
watched the video I watched to learn, but wasn't this so much more fun? :) Happy Hump Day!

Yumm! Thanks for the tutorial! I'm gonna try this!
You're so sweet :)
But there is an easier way and less longlasting way to cut your pineapple. I used to cut it the same as you described but simply cut the pineapple in quarters like an apple, cut off the hard inner part and then cut it along the skin. You have less waste and the untasty hart part stays in the skin.
I also love pineapple, but I hate cutting it.
So I just bougt me a pineapple slicer like this: http://img.alibaba.com/wsphoto/299998502/easy-pineapple-corer-slicer-peeler-parer-cutter-excellent-quality-100pcs-lot.jpg
:)
Of course it is much more fun with all these cut pics ;)
Haha it is a tricky fruit to cut!

My father cuts them into eights and then cuts off the hard inner and outer parts.
But why do you cook for your dogs, and don't just buy the dog food?
Awesome tips! How do you get your photos to look so professional? Do you use a certain camera?
Very helpful:) some of my favorite fruit!
ha ha you nut! can't believe you'd never cut a pineapple! That being said I didn't know the ripe leaf test or that the sugar sinks so thanks for sharing and for the lovely photos :)

Oh I just bought this pineapple cutter tool and it craves out the middle and slices it and leaves a outside cup. It's pretty awesome. Great pics
Hey Meagan you need to get the pineapple slicer...so much easier plus you can use the outer layer of the pineapple to put a fruity drink in...I have had this one for years and love it..http://www.qvc.com/Stainless-Steel-Professional-Pineapple-Slicer-Search-Results.product.K37059.html?sc=K37059-SRCH&cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION-_-1-_-K37059&catentryImage=http://images-p.qvc.com/is/image/k/59/k37059.001?$uslarge$

Aww Maegan, I ever wasn't in this situation to cut a pineapple too! :)
The headline reminds me of "FRIENDS", the TV-Show. Was it your intention?
<3 Michelle
hi maegan this looks great ive always cut this way!! but I want to tell you that here in mexico we used all the fruit incluiding the cover, some people use to make "tepache" which is nothing else than the fermented shell of pineapple with some sugar I dont like it at all but it's very popular here!!; but in my family we use to make pineapple tea with pinneaple shell with enough boiling water to cover them and drink like a tea, warm or cold and with some sugar, maybe you like to try it its dellicious!!
XOXO,
Fabi
You make it look so easy! I'll give it a try because the prices for a tiny cup of cut up pineapple in NYC is getting ridiculous! :)
In line with what Fabi was saying, my friends mother who's from Peru, drinks that same pineapple tea. But according to her, it prevents/cures cellulite (and she doesn't have any!)
