Lakeside at Lake Arrowhead... our first day adventure

Lake Arrowhead
View of the lake from our hotel room

After an easy hour and ten minute drive on the flat freeway, we reached the base of the San Bernardino mountains and began our 20 minute incline to Lake Arrowhead. The first 7 or so minutes of the canyon twists and turns were not so bad... and then as the mountains opened up and my passenger side which was closest to the cliffs of the road had me feeling like we were going over the edge at every turn, I suddenly became terrified, no PARALYZED with fear.

If I distracted myself with my iPhone, I was okay, until I felt sick from the roller-coaster-like-twists. But in all actuality, it really wasn't that bad. I think I was nervous to begin with and I think my last experience up a road like this years ago wasn't a pleasant one, so I equated the two into one insane scenario, which of course ended in our unfortunate and untimely deaths.

And then we reached the top, and the 20 minutes of terror were just a distant memory. We drove slowly through the mountain town a little fearful that it was in fact, smaller than we had originally thought, but once we hit the Lake Arrowhead Resort we quickly realized that was just the outskirts of Lake Arrowhead and there was a whole village to explore in the woods.

We settled into our suite and decided to venture out and walk down to the lake to take in all that Lake Arrowhead had to offer {in the Summer, of course} and god was it beautiful... I mean breathtakingly, stunningly, awe-inspiringly beautiful.

Almost immediately we began wondering how on earth we would ever decide what to do with all this beauty around us. Before we had even begun our house hunt, we were terrified and excited at the idea of actually moving there -because we knew we couldn't not.

I have been to every single spot in these pictures. We were married January 2005 at Chateau Du Lac in Lake Arrowhead. I absolutely love it up there.

PS I think you should move out my way. You can get a huge piece of land with a little tiny house and build on it. That way you can have the house EXACTLY how you want it. People think it is out of budget, but not if you really search it out. There are some hidden gems out here.

Hey, if you can, just spend a vacation month there every year! (Since you hinted that you wouldn't be buying there, if I'm not mistaken). I'd better re-read your post.

Turned out, I wasn't pregnant. But it also turned out that we were excited by the thought of having a baby so we started trying to conceive... For the iPhone
