In our new neutral living space, with little hints and pops of blue, I couldn't imagine a tree in any other color palette. Being that I've never done a tree in these tones though, I only had a few ornaments that I could use. I grabbed some vintage ornaments in blue and teal, a few Pug and Frenchie danglers and a handful of silver and white balls and snowflakes for the in between. But that wasn't nearly enough to decorate the entire tree with, so I had to get crafty.

I found an old piece of burlap remnant, gathered a few small pinecones, and found some bunches of plastic leaves that would become my new ornaments this year. I also used curly sticks and dried eucalyptus branches sporadically throughout for texture and color.

Separating my faux leaf sprigs into singles, I pulled threads from the sides of my burlap, cut them in half and tied them into bows at the tops of my sprigs. There is already a hole at the tops of faux plants, so I simply ran my hook through it and hung these all over the tree.

I also took pipe cleaners, wrapped them through and around the tops of small pinecones, twisted them to stay in place and then twisted them onto the tree as well.

I found brown stick decorative balls which I tied onto the tree with burlap strings as well.

I cut about 3 x 3/4inch sections of craggy burlap and tied them to the ends of my branches...

Voila...

I made the tree topper out of an old wrapping paper roll. You can find the DIY Tutorial HERE. I used and old champagne colored satin sheet as my tree skirt. I love not spending a dime and getting the desired results... I love our rustic tree this year {and have to say that it looks even better in person ;}

I have now decorated three trees this year. And that's a little insane. See my Holiday Dream Tree Challenge tree in our old house, which I had to take down and put up again in our new master bedroom. Next year we'll get a bigger/taller tree to fit our new space. While we were at the tree lot, we couldn't remember how high our ceilings were.
