Fine Jewels by Cynthia Wolff... Details & Pricing

rings, wedding bands, engagements rings

* 4 ct oval Morganite in a custom cut, one-of-a-kind ring, set in platinum with single cut and rose-cut diamonds, halo of diamonds and bezel $12,000

* Stone set Platinum and 14K white gold bands from $1000-$6000, average price, $2200-$2500.

I met Cynthia Wolff back in 2005 when the husband introduced us to custom design my engagement ring and our wedding bands together. I went to meet her with a diamond in mind, but when I saw that oval pink Morganite ring in the photo above, I decided the pink stone would be more "me" and very different from what anybody else had at the time. My husband proposed on my 30th b-day and we eloped in 2006 {read our wedding story here}. I actually get quite a few emails from women who are interested in a colored stone for their rings as well but wonder if I ever get tired of it and the answer is always a resounding NO. I love my ring now just as much as I did when we designed in 6-1/2 years ago. I wanted something with a classic but vintage feel that would stand the test of time and I adore anything and everything pave, especially micro-pave, Cynthia's specialty. Even though I helped design my ring, I didn't get to see it until about a year later when the husband proposed on one knee and opened the box to "ask" me.

I see Cynthia from time to time now, mainly when she stops by the house to visit and show me her latest and greatest jewelry creations and finds. This is also when I drool over the pieces I've long had my eyes on and convince the husband that they would be the perfect gift for the next-in-line holiday. In this case, it's Christmas. I had been dreaming of a rose gold and champaign diamond infinity band since the last time Cynthia stopped by and I may be just lucky enough to get to open a box and find it on Christmas morning :)

This last visit, I had a chance to photograph some of Cynthia's fine jewels and share with you her collection at the moment. Details and prices are below each photo and if you're interested in a piece, you can contact Cynthia at info@cynthiawolff.com {she's LA based}

But first... another look at my engagement ring, because it was clean, and I had a chance to photograph it in all of it's glory ;)

My engagement ring is a 3 ct cushion cut Morganite set in Platinum surrounded by pave diamonds on all sides and all the way around the band. You can learn more about my wedding rings here and know, if you're looking for something similar, it is in/around the price range of the Morganite ring seen above.

The Evolution of a Room: Game Room to Everyday Room

home decor, union jack flag print, vintage modern chairs, gold stump side tables, victorian dog portraits

When we first moved into this rental house from our tiny condo in the beginning of 2010, we were playing a lot of games with friends like Rock Band, Guitar Hero, etc. so I created our Rock and Roll Video Game Room. But over the past two years, and as I've gotten busier, our plastic guitars and Dance Dance Revolution pads just started to collect dust. My husband still plays his own games, but I rarely play anymore. So the room sort of morphed into a room where mostly the husband spends his time, working, reading, watching sports, and playing games. I finally decided to swap out the guitars on the walls for a bookshelf full of the husband's comic book collection. The Union Jack Flag print is still the same but I've added the Andy Warhol "Pepper Pot Soup Can" art print from Art.com, four Banksy prints, and of course, LeRoy & Bebop's custom Victorian portraits in gold frames to play off the golden tree stump side tables from the Phillips Collection {which I found at the Sherman Oaks Antique Mall}

I've recently swapped out my mongolian hair pillows for a larger, white faux fur style due to the mangled and knotted mongolian hair that combing could no longer fix.

black bound books, pug book ends

I chose only black bound books and used the black pug book ends to create a long dog illusion which makes me smile every time I look at it. {this is at the end of the room above the sliding glass doors, out to the backyard}

brick wall, video gaming area

large flat screen tv and plants

This house really leant itself to some fun, eclectic, and quirky decor, which I really love and will miss when we move. The 3 brick walls in this room add such great color and texture that you don't find often in homes here.

Our new house is more classic in style and design but I still hope I can recreate a similar space in it. We are moving in less than a week and so looking forward to being there and done with the actual "move" part of it. Oh so much ahead of us this week.

Gray, Pink, Oxblood, Plum... Casual Preppy w/an Edge...

preppy with an edge, gray pink oxblood plum outfit

What I'm Wearing...

* Vintage gray blazer... last seen here
* Peachy pink open tank by Miguelina... {also seen here} worn under a peachy pink blouse by Zoe & Sam
* Charcoal gray skinny cords {which actually look plum here} are by Blank Denim
* Dark silver knotted necklace {seen here} and vintage locket was my grandma's
* Vintage sunglasses
* Nicole Miller striped box clutch c/o Nicole Miller {and which happen to match my...}
* Striped tasseled loafers by Dolce Vita

Because I rarely dress in a full preppy style, on the occasion that I do lean in that direction, I find that I have to add a bit of an edge to it to make it work for me. The layered and untucked long peachy pink blouses give it a looser feeling even with the wool blazer and tasseled loafers. This was my original Thanksgiving day outfit... but when we got together with the family later in the day, I traded my blazer for an even more casual sweater {you can see that look here}.

* PLEASE NOTE: if you're viewing my blog posts via a "reader" like Google or Yahoo, etc., you miss out on my first photo, the one above all this text. I'm not sure why exactly this happens but to see my posts in their entirety without visiting my blog, you can subscribe easily via email right there at the top of my sidebar. DIY Idea: Prada Spring 2013 RTW Bracelets...

Yet another DIY idea I've had lingering on my desktop since September; these gorgeous bracelets from the Prada Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear collection. I recently saw the necklace featured in Bazaar's December issue, which I love as well, but maybe something smaller would be a bit easier to re-create. The circles are the easy part... but the diamonds, flowers, and connecting jewels are on another level. I may almost like them better without the flowers...

Princess Idelle Chattre & Malcolm R. Conntint. . . on . . .
. . . The Last Train From Paris . . .

The husband and I were invited as Princess Idelle Chattre & Malcolm R Conntint, to attend and participate in a Murder Mystery Dinner called The Last Train From Paris hosted by our friends {and neighbors} Josh and Rafi.

Having been to a few murder mystery dinners, I knew we'd have to attend as our characters but just to be safe I sent a text to our hosts asking on a scale of 1-10, how "dressed" should we be... and the response was 9.875... and then "Think of this as the most important night of your life. Would you want to be underdressed?" So obviously, we went all out.

I wore a long black vintage dress detailed with rhinestones that I've had for over ten years and have never worn. I was so happy I finally got to wear it! I pulled out my vintage mink coat and piled on layers of vintage rhinestone jewelry and added a bright red lip for even more drama. I used hot rollers for curls and brushed them out for an old Hollywood glam hair style.

When we arrived, late of course, everyone was already deep into their characters, accents, and backstory, and while I was a bit timid at first, I slowly warmed up and used a horrendously over-the-top-british-characature accent for the remainder of the evening.

Honestly, I didn't stop giggling from the moment we entered until the next morning... and then we were still giggling thinking back on the evening. It was so much fun with all of our exaggerated accents, filtering back and forth from our everyday speech, with the exception of the Duke and Belinda, our hosts, who held strong character for the entire night. So much fun was had... whenever a clue was presented accusing a character of the crime we all pointed in their direction simultaneously saying MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURDERAAAAAHHHH...

And if you're wondering who dunnit... it was moi. I was the MUUUUUUURDERRRRRRAHHHH.
