Feeling 90's Floaty Florals for Spring... & more

90's movies, Reality Bites

After being bundled up in layer upon layer of clothing, I cannot WAIT for warmer days with less of the aforementioned, layers. Also, being lake-dwellers now, Spring and Summer are more like month-long events here vs seasons, so it's really the first time in my life I've begun thinking about and cultivating what I'm "planning on wearing once the sun comes out" because back home in LA, I'd just wear it, because it'd be warm enough the same day I was in the mood to wear it. There is definitely something more exciting about living with actual seasons. It's strangely refreshing and reinvigorating!

Even though I was around for it the first time this trend popped up in the 90's, I'm so feeling it this year for Spring/Summer. I love the idea of floaty florals and babydoll dresses with boots and oxfords and sneakers... in dress-lengths appropriate for my near 37 year old self, of course. I wore a uniform to school until 1994 but definitely donned my fair share of floral dresses with boots and little baby t's underneath. In the later 90's, I was all about vintage dresses from the 60's and 70's and was undoubtedly inspired by Drew's carefree look {and Gwen Stefani as well}, wearing lots of baggy men's thrifted pants and Levi's jeans and tiny baby tees.

{See this completely gratuitous outfit post from 1996 in vintage polka dots}

Aah the 90's! I have fond memories - but as I was an adolescent my "fashion" memories are dungarees (overalls) and chapstick - so chic ;-)
